A traditional fishing village with local amenities - restaurants, bars, beaches, a local square with live entertainment and Catalan dancing, diving clubs, boat hire, fishing, train station, vibrant markets, fantastic coastal/countryside walking, fabulous cycling. Visit the beautiful medieval towns of Collioure and Carcassone, Andorra for tax free shopping or Spain only 4 kms away with its pretty coves and historic towns like Roses, Cadaques, resorts of the Costa Brava. Local trains go to all the towns along the coast or further afield to Barcelona or Perpignan. Kitchen with Aga, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher. Dining area, lounge with 2 sofa beds, TV, DVD, video. Downstairs 2 doubles with en suite showers, 1 double, 1 small room with bunk beds, bathroom, toilet. The 4th room with bunk beds is connected to the 3rd bedroom via the ensuite bathroom and is really only suitable for children. Outside heated swimming pool surrounded by decking, two sun terraces, BBQ, ample parking. The villa has stunning views of the sea with magnificent sunrises with vineyards 50 metres away for beautiful walks.

Stunning views, beautiful appointed property in a very quiet village. The views are breath taking.

Views here are amazing. It is quite far out of the village. It is possible to walk to the village but in the heat it is rather a long walk!!! The village is beautiful but a little quiet for teenagers but the train service is great. We loved the villa, it was really beautiful and so well equipped and Margaret was hugely helpful throughout. I certainly would love to return.

Fabulous stay

The house is clean, spacious and well equipped, set on a really quiet road with hardly any passing traffic so very peaceful. The views are breath taking and can be seen from nearly all the rooms of the house. We loved the local village which is a 15 minute leisurely walk down the hill. There is a bakery, bank, newsagent, small supermarket with a fresh butchery stall, bars , restaurants and take away pizza bar. Perfect location to tour both the french coast and also the Costa Brava. We were in Cerbere attending a party with friends but will definitely look to return.

Lovely stay in villa with view!

We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely villa. In particular, the pool is fantastic and the view amazing. The kitchen was really well stocked and the living area comfortable. Although the living area is not air conditioned (the bedrooms do have air conditioning) it received a decent breeze through the windows so we were not hot - we actually preferred it that way! We did not bring a car (we arrived by a slow but direct train from Barcelona to Cerbere which was hard to find out about online but does exist and was only 18 euros/person!!) and did find the steep hill a bit of a challenge (and we like walking!!), but this would be nothing if you had a car (and is obviously the reason it has such a lovely view). Cerbere village has an adequate grocery store, a few good restaurants and a couple of nice hidden bays to visit, and the station means you can easily visit other towns in the local area although the train is only every 2 hours or so.

Yes there were a couple of cranes not too far away and some building rubble around, but this did not distract from the stunning view of the sea you see in the photographs. We thought the villa was beautiful and the children made the most of the pool. The air conditioning at night made for an excellent night's sleep under warm duvets, as did the shutters. The downside was that the villa is at the top of a very steep hill, after climbing which even the fittest in our party felt quite faint! It's a fair whack to the beach. Also we much preferred neighbouring Banyuls-sur-Mer to Cerbere, as it was slightly bigger and more atmospheric. We also got in a pickle trying to get a train to Barcelona, as the timetable just didn't fit in with our requirements and we ended up driving there. I wouldn't recommend that anyone unsteady on their feet stay at the villa; there are some steep, slippery winding stairs from the ground floor to the first floor, and all the floors are tiled. One of the bedrooms leads off a bathroom, which itself must be accesed via another bedroom and feels more like a closet and rather claustraphobic. However, as long as you've got transport, the views presentation and facilities at the villa make up for these gripes.

Es war ein sehr schöner Urlaub in einem tollen Objekt mit großartiger Aussicht. Die Küche mit ihrer sehr umfangreichen Ausstattung und der große Pool haben uns besonders viel Freude gemacht. Cerbère ist ein ruhiger, kleiner Ort, wo man alles Nötige für den Alltag und sehr nette Restaurants findet. Der Auf- und Abstieg zu Fuß ist herausfordernd, aber die fantastische Aussicht bekommt man eben nicht ohne ein bisschen Anstrengung. Die weitere Umgebung bietet zahlreiche Ausflugsmöglichkeiten für verschiedene Altersgruppen, sowohl für sportliche als auch kulturelle Aktivitäten. Besonders die Tauchreviere waren eine tolle Erfahrung. Für uns eine klare Empfehlung.

Très belle villa perchée sur les hauteurs de cerbere

Située à Cerbere, à 2 pas de l'espagne et nichée sur les hauteurs de la ville, cette villa offre un panorama à couper le souffle sur la mer méditerranée. Elle est très bien équipée et parfaitement conforme à la description faite. Les amis venus nous rendre visite ont comme nous été frappés par cette vue magnifique. Cerbere est une station familiale mais il existe pas mal d'activités possibles (kayak, plongée, réserve naturelle, randonnées..) réalisable et d'autres supplémentaires à proximité immédiate. Des vacances parfaites

Heerlijk verblijf met een fantastisch uitzicht

We hebben genoten van een heerlijke vakantie in dit prachtige en goed uitgeruste huis in het rustige plaatsje Cerbère. Het was erg warm toen wij er waren en het was dan ook superfijn dat de slaapverdieping airco heeft en er een heerlijk zwembad is. Vanwege die warmte zaten wandelingetjes naar het dorpscentrum er helaas niet in (te veel klimwerk). Maar het fantastische uitzicht over de Middellandse Zee maakt alles goed. Communicatie met de eigenaar en de geboden service zijn prima te noemen. Een aanrader!

Heerlijke villa, rustige omgeving

We hebben een week genoten! Heerlijk luxe met 3 slaapkamers, 3 badkamers en uitstekende airco beneden, en een ruime woonkamer plus keuken boven. Plus diverse terrassen en balkons en een privé zwembad. Ook prima contact met de zeer vriendelijke eigenaresse. Cerbère ligt wel wat afgelegen en is een vrij basic dorpje, om in het iets gezelliger Banyuls te komen (voor bv boodschappen) moet je 20 minuten langs de kust kronkelen. Kom je voor rust, dan is dit een perfecte keuze.

superbe vue sur Méditerranée

Maison agréable grâce à son emplacement. Accueil super de Stéphanie. La maison nécessite quelques petites réparations : WC, ampoules, et renouvellement du linge de maison ainsi que de la batterie de cuisine. literie à changer également. A noter que la "chambre" avec lits superposés manque d'aération. Si tout est remis en état, je recommande cette location.

Ideal base for exploring Southern France and Northern Spain

The Villa is situated on a hill with views over the Mediterranean. It is well equipped with all that you may need for a perfect holiday. Everything was clean and in working order. After a day out sight seeing it was lovely to take a dip in the pool. We will definateley be returning at some point.

A little piece of Paradise

The views and the location were what attracted us when looking to book a holiday in this area. We wanted somewhere just off the beaten track. The Villa is situated in a lovely quiet area with other villas, it was just what we wanted. We really enjoyed a very lazy time, making the most of the Villa and pool, and having the hire car meant we could explore the surrounding area. The Villa was very spacious, well equipped and clean. It was our little paradise for a week. Looking to book another holiday there next year.

Vi havde en skøn ferie i Cerbére, men en storslået udsigt fra boligen. Området er fantastisk, men man skal dog være opmærksom på, at ikke ret mange taler engelsk/tysk, så kan man ikke fransk, så kan det give nogle udfordringer 😎. Hjælpsom og imødekommende udlejer. Business & Pleasure. We stayed in this beautiful Villa that over looks the Mediterranean Sea. The views were spectacular and so very calming. The area is wonderful with lots of places and small towns and villages to explore. A car is recommended. We live in Dunstable, Bedfordshire where we have lived for some 45 years! We always holidayed with a touring caravan in Europe when our three children were young and came to love France having toured all over. Having watched the TV programme 'French Leave' where Jean Bertrand Race brought his family to spend a year in the Languedoc region of France we decided to explore the possibility of buying a holiday home. We were amazed at the choice but were completely blown away when the agent showed us a plot of land overlooking the Mediterranean. The views were spectacular and we agreed to buy it there and then! It took 18 months to have all the plans and permissions approved. We worked with a local French architect to design the house to optimise the views and it took a further 18 months to complete the build which was finished in March 2008. We absolutely love it!! and are delighted that our family and friends do too.

Why they chose this property

The house has amazing views - pretty much 180 degrees of sea views but it is set in such a peaceful location at the top of the hill overlooking the sea. We love to sit on the terraces and watch the boats passing - fishing boats, diving school parties, liners and cruise ships, sailing boats. We can see as far as Narbonne to one side and Cap de Creus in the other direction. The house is spacious and airy and is designed with the bedrooms downstairs and the upstairs one huge room which we find great for families and parties. From the pool you can look directly out to sea. Cerbere is a beautiful traditional uncommercialised French fishing village with a few shops, banks, bakery, restaurants and bars. The recently rebuilt pontoon is very picturesque in the harbour with tiny boats bobbing around in the sparkling waters

What makes this property unique

We love the ease of visiting both Spain and France with all the lovely resorts along the Costa Brava perfect for a day visit - Portbou, Calella, Llanca, Estarit, Palomas, Cadaques, Roses, Empuriabrava, Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar.

You can also enjoy all the French resorts along the coast Banyuls with its numerous restaurants and bars, Portes Vendres with its busy harbour, Collioure - without a doubt spectacular, Argeles sur Mer for its lively shops and activities and vast sandy beach and beautiful port. The local transport, both bus and train are very reliable and reasonable so you don't have to take the car if you don't want to.

The local walking is amazing with coastal paths going from the village right the way through to Argeles sur Mer in one direction and from Cerbere through Portbou and onwards in the other direction. To the rear of the property is a beautiful vineyard walk through the mountains behind the villa.

For keen cyclists the routes are undoubtedly challenging with the Trans Pyrennean Route from Biarritz ending in Cerbere! There are always lots of enthusiastic cyclists in the area.

There are two diving schools in the village for people of all capabilities and the entire coast line is a national heritage reserve so the diving is spectacular.
