Everything about our stay was perfect. The house was clean as expected, check in was a breeze, Larry was an excellent host (even took our kids on a nature walk to find fossils), and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool in the hot Texas heat. Can’t recommend this property enough!
We enjoyed a quiet and relaxing getaway at Mountain Breeze which was exactly what we were looking for. Thanks to Larry for sharing his beautiful property, cozy cabin, and for making us feel so welcome. His sweet dog, Dottie, was a friendly hostess and companion. The cabin is well appointed, clean and comfortable. The location was private and peaceful, but also convenient to the Canyon Lake area, Guadalupe River, and Gruene. A very pleasant stay and we hope to return.
What pleasere it was to spend our time here. Big thanks to Larry and Joyce for all the little things they did to make our stay special, our daughters even learn to swim in the pool. We will always look back on these days with a full heart. We appreciate all the generosity and hospitality.
We so enjoyed our stay!
The property, accommodations and location were everything we could want!
Larry is a wonderful host and bent over backwards to accommodate our needs!
We also enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and the wine as well as the tranquil serenity of the place!
Drinking coffee on the front porch each morning, while watching the cardinals and hummingbirds always started our day off so peaceful!
Definitely will be back!!
Larry and Joyce were wonderful hosts during our stay at the cabin. We enjoyed the pool, to get out of the hot weather, as well as, the porch at night to listen to nature sounds and watch the fawns playing in the pasture.
The property is conveniently situated between San Antonio and Austin, so we visited each metropolitan area. I wish we would have left some more time to explore the surrounding area around the cabin, as there seemed to be many things to do and see.
Dealing with a very stressful situation, my husband is in the hospital and I came to Texas to get him settled and visit my daughter and her family. My grandson and I stayed for a week and we were in paradise. This is the place to stay. My grandson will NEVER forget our stay. Larry and Joyce are fantastic hosts. Our every need was met and they went over and above. I will be back. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality and memories!
We are from the Houston area so we wanted a family vacation to get away from the city for a few days. We have two daughters ages 7 and 9 and a 21 year old son so we wanted something that would be fun for everyone. The poperty was private yet centrally located to everything. We were within 30 minutes of the natural bridge caverns and within 10 minutes of everything else. The owners were wonderful. Great communication before, during, and after the trip. We will definitely be making a return trip. We have stayed at quite a few locations over the years and this location was by far the best. 5 stars all around. Thank you to Larry and his family for helping us have a trip to remember.

Surprisingly different!
Great value for what you get. The donkey is a treasure and loves bananas and carrots. This was an absolute hit with the kids. The cottage has a lot of space and was perfect for what we needed, ( family of 5). There is no maid service but there is a washer and drier which made it nice. We were able to float the river, tubed on the lake all day, went to Gruene for dinner one night. It is a location that makes everything easy to get to. Would absolutely stay here again. Owner is on premise but not obtrusive. Like having a neighbor around. Awesome find!
Driving through the gate for Mountain Breeze took us away from the busy calls of life and into a sanctuary of quiet and relaxation. We had a great time hiking the 20+ acres, relaxing in the pool, enjoying the deer and birds. We set up our projector and screen and had an outdoor movie each night- just like going to a drive in movie when we were young. We enjoyed the moon and stars. Everything we needed to grill and cook our meals was available in the well stocked kitchen. We played board games and connected as family. From 8 to 71 everyone had a good time. When we drove back out that gate at the end of our stay I realized how removed we had been from all the demands of daily life. What a wonderful relaxing escape-
I can never properly express how incredible this little piece of heaven is!
Larry was an absolute joy as a host. That perfect balance of engaged, friendly, but you never felt like you lacked privacy. He even generously shares from his garden which made our final dinner a special treat.
We were there during the hot summer, so while there was plenty to explore on the property, we mainly went to destinations, had our late evenings/early morning fun in the cabin, and enjoyed the pool.
The cabin had plenty of space for two of us, but could have slept more. Master suite has a king size bed, en suite bathroom, closet, and laundry room, all on the ground floor… it was perfect for me and more space than I ever needed.
The second bedroom was upstairs with two queen size beds and my friend enjoyed it. There was enough ‘soundproofing’ and doors between that even though the bedrooms are over one another, no sound bleeds between the two.
The kitchen is modestly sized, but had everything we needed and enough space to both occupy/cook at the same time…even space for Dottie, the resident doggy welcome committee to come in and partake of the fun. Plenty of ice trays, so the cold drinks can always be flowing! (Sounds silly, but really appreciated)
Larry was so kind… even offered to come and get us should we have any issues when driving in late from Houston that first night. You can’t put a price on that kind of genuine care!!!
100% would return here ❤️
It was a few days of absolute rest in beautiful nature. The pool was perfect for keeping us cool, the view was beautiful. There is a large stone rock under a live oak, perfect for early morning meditations. Saw several deer. The house was clean, the beds very comfortable, the shower had great water pressure. All in all, it was a lovely, relaxing, peaceful weekend.
This is an outstanding property in a secluded but convenient area near New Braunfels. We so enjoyed meeting the owners of the cabin who provided solid guidance about local things.....and their adorable pet Dottie added so much to the warmth and charm of the comfortable & quiet place. We appreciated the abundance of coffee, linens, etc. and felt so safe yet quite close to restaurants, the amphitheater.
Perfect cottage for a small group of 2-4 individuals. Very nice property, serene & peaceful. The pool & Dottie (owners dog) was an extra bonus. Would definitely stay again.
We had a great time here. It was big enough for us, but not too big that we had a lot to clean up when we left. And it was conveniently located close to the Whitewater Amphitheater, which is what we came for (Parker Mccollum concert)
The property is also very beautiful.

About the host
Hosted by Larry & Joyce Maroney
Hi, we are Larry and Joyce, and we were high school sweethearts (I finally convinced her I was the one). We've been married for over 54 years (we're both hard-headed) so I guess the marriage will last. We live up the hill from the property (but not too close) with and Dottie (maybe one of the most famous dogs in Texas) - read our reviews), and we love the Texas Hill Country. We are proud of our FIVE STAR rating and will do all in our power to provide you a fantastic stay with us. Come get to know us. You will enjoy your time at our "Mountain Breeze".
Why they chose this property
When we found this property, We loved it...large scattered oaks on 23 acres, less than 30 minutes from Gruene, New Braunfels, Comfort, Blanco and Wimberley...the best of the Texas Hill County with deer and turkey and fantastic sunrises and breathtaking sunsets. Sometimes the creek even ran crystal clear water. But we knew we couldn't afford it. We scraped together every penny we could, and made our best offer. It was just barely enough!
What makes this property unique
There are several things we love about our property. First of all, we are smack dab in the middle of the best part of Texas. Less than an hour away: . San Antonio and the Alamo and the River Walk . Austin and the state's awesome Museum of Natural History, Austin City Limits, South by Southwest and 'Keep Austin Weird' . Luckenbach ("Willie and the boys" hangout) and Flores Country Store . Fredricksburg and the heart of the Texas wine country
20 minutes away: . Gruene Hall, the oldest dancehall in Texas, and the shops of Gruene . Schlitterbahn Waterpark . San Marcos and the Outlet Mall
4 -5 minutes away: . Floating the Guadalupe River . Whitewater . Canyon Lake
So, it's easy to see that we have a very unique location. We are in the right place, there's always lots to do.
Finally, and maybe most importantly, you can always just chill out and relax. It's really quiet and peaceful here . An old resident of the area said it best, 'The nights are shorter here.' There are no sirens or car alarms or trains. It's quiet. We are not isolated, but whether you are floating in the pool or napping under one of the oak trees out in the pasture, you can enjoy the beauty and peace of the Texas Hill Country. Come join us and relax... Come enjoy the Mountain Breeze.
