About Andy Kaufman

I am a CPA with a beautiful family that likes to stay active. We love to ski in the winter and ride bikes, hike and fly fish the ponds and rivers in the summer. Training for Ironman competitions in 2017 mostly in beautiful Grand County!

Andy Kaufman purchased this condo in 2011

Why Andy Kaufman chose Winter Park Area

My wife and I bought this condo to spend more quality time with our two children, ages eight and ten. We have loved Winter Park for years, mainly skiing and hiking depending on the season. I am a marathoner, and in recent years, a triathlete so training at altitude has provided benefits. Over the years we had stayed at Hi Country Haus in many different units but most often had rented one of our good friend's place. We loved the amenities in the clubhouse making that a tradition and a must do every time we went up. The kids would sled down the hill in the small park there in the evening, enjoying the evening activities as much as the skiing. They had never been so active outdoors as they were at Winter Park.

Therefore, it was a no brainer to buy a place and to look in Hi Country Haus. We love the ruggedness and authenticity of Grand County and the town of Winter Park not to mention skiing Mary Jane. But any time spent with our family up in the mountains away from the distractions of life in the front range are memories we will carry with us. Renting helps offset the payments but it's more than that. We want to share our joy of spending time in the mountains with others as we can't be up there every week.

Let us share our place with you. But be warned, after spending time here you'll want to return soon and often.

Please contact us with any questions or recommendations for enjoying your time in Winter Park and Grand County.

What makes this condo unique

The range of activities in the summer are seemingly endless. There's hiking, biking, swimming, fishing and if you don't mind a quick drive, kayaking and boating in Grand Lake is 45 minutes away. Our favorite activity in the Summer and Fall is hiking the many trails any time of day. Having our bikes is also a key part of the stay.

In the winter, skiing and resting by the fire are an absolute musts just about every day we stay in Winter Park. The hot tubs provide the needed apre ski comfort for any wary muscles and luckily the newly refurbished clubhouse has three tubs available. We rest while the kids swim. Perfect for our family of four.

Recommendations for restaurants nearby -

Hernando's Pizza is the place to go in Winter Park for thick crust thin pizza. You can decorate a dollar bill and they will put it with the rest of the 20k bills on the walls and ceiling. It gets extremely crowded on the weekend but is fun for all.

The Peak is a brew pub also very close to Hi Country Haus. It is great for adults as a large airy sports bar but with tables. There is pool and games upstairs.

Fontenot's is a really great Cajun place for a nice dinner. A bit more upscale than the other place but not expensive. I love this place and would definitely recommend it for a night.

The Smokehouse is fairly new BBQ place in what used to be the Pizza Hut (still looks like one). They have been so accommodating every time we go, we keep going back. The BBQ is awesome.

The Foundry is the movie theater, bowling, and pizza place. Awesome for a beer and movie with state of the art stadium seating and decent food. If there's a movie playing there that you like, it's a fun night's activity. It has become one of the most popular places in the WP.

The Hideaway Park Brewery is a must stop by nano-brewery if you like tasting beer. The friendly atmosphere and craft brews keep me coming back most runs up the mountain.

The Grand Park Rec Center is awesome.

We could have moved in, loved gathering here with our family.

  • 5 of 5

This condo was a home away from home for us as we gathered with our scattered family for a week in the mountains. We stayed here with our two young grandchildren; our children and significant others (four) stayed in a condo on the first floor.

We love to cook together and shared cooking duties. This condo has white dinner plates, bowls (service for eight), pots, pans, cookie sheets, a drawer full of extra utensils, even a food chopper (our 8-year old granddaughter helped make chocolate chip cookies and crust for quiche, used the chopper to shred potatoes for a potato crust on one quiche). We brought cooking utensils from our daughter's home, but didn't need them.

We especially appreciated the large table on the deck that seated eight. We had every dinner out there. There were even votive candles and a larger candle for the one night it got late before we ate. I brought a couple of table cloths.

For the non-cooks out there, we had a plentiful supply of towels, games and movies, extra blankets and pillows and plenty of drawer and closet space. The condo is renovated, clean and tastefully decorated. We slept well!

The pool and game facility was a bonus. We used the pool, hot tub and pool tables a few times. Our grandchildren spent idyllic hours with grandpa playing in the creek that runs behind this building.

We would come again in a minute. It would have been cozy to use the fireplace, if it was wintertime. Thanks for a great stay at a reasonable price.

Great location, updated and neat inside

  • 5 of 5

First time staying in Winter Park and could not have been happier. Condo is in a great location in town but off the main road. Lovely balcony for cool evenings. Interior is updated and was spotless when we arrived. Blackout curtains made it easy to sleep in. We would happily stay here again.

Clean & Cozy

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay in Winter Park over 4th of July weekend, partly due to Andy's condo! Ask Andy for a map before you go, the building numbers do not go in order, so it was a little hunting to find it. But once we did, his place is clean and very comfy. There was enough of the simple things like dish soap, paper towels, trash bags, etc it a bonus saved expense! This is the first place I've stayed and didn't have to go buy 100 coffee filters for a 4 day stay! Thanks for that Andy you thought of the little things! There is a pool on the property and a trail head to a great hike! Its about a blocks walk to a good pizza place Hernadoz's, thats right on the main street, then walk on down the main street to shop. We shared the place with my son and daughter-in-law who is expecting, so we gave them the big bed and my hubby (who is 6'3") & I took the bunk beds (bottom bunk) and incredibly he didn't feel cramped! There is a table and chairs right outside the front door where you can eat, visit, play cards all while being able to see the beauty of the mountains. I would defiantly recommend. Thanks for a nice place to enjoy a visit with my kids Andy!
