About Debra Varner

We love our home in South Carolina! Having family nearby, we share meals and good times together. We live in San Francisco, also a beautiful place, but when we go to our So. Carolina home, we simply feel the stress of the everyday life melt away no matter what time of year. We have spent all the seasons and all are equally beautiful. We love beach combing, meeting and sharing a meal with our neighbors and lazing on the decks with a good book in the heat of the day. Family members visit and we take in the local catch of the day - the shrimp, clams, oysters and crab that our brother-in-law catches himself! We want you to enjoy our home as much as we do.

Debra Varner purchased this house in 2004

Why Debra Varner chose Low Country & Resort Islands

We have family and friends in No. and So. Carolina and Florida. We knew we needed to have our own home to share with them. We were fortunate to find this special place that brings such joy, and we are delighted to share with our guests.

What makes this house unique

We love the food, beaches, shopping, neighbors and quiet that makes us feel rejuvenated at the end of a stay.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"We stayed in this house for a week and did not want to leave! We had everything we needed for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. Thanks so much for the pet friendly home, it is great to be able to bring our dogs because they are a part of the family. We enjoyed Hunting Beach and trips into Beaufort. We do plan to return next year."

Welcome to Las Brisas! This cozy home sits at the end of the drive and overlooks the serene beauty of the Carolina Lowcountry. No other homes to block your view of the natural preserve that you wake to each morning. Two screened porches, plus a third private observation and sunning deck with views of the ocean takes you above the trees and close to the open air. Enjoy your morning coffee listening to the birds, and your afternoon libation watching the deer quietly meandering through the marsh. You'll find the tranquility soothing and welcoming. We include the Hunting Island Year-Round Park Pass for your added enjoyment. Come and go to the beach as you wish.

Perfect in Everyway

  • 5 of 5

The house was exactly as described and exceeded our expectations. It felt home-like within an hour. The tides mesmerized us as did the views from every angle. The observation deck was our main hangout providing us with cooling breezes and panoramic views. Late at night the sky was dark and clear enough to be able to astro-photograph the Milky Way galactic clouds as well as the abundant stars.

The neighbors were welcoming and very informative. We learned of places to visit that weren't on the map such as Fort Fremont and, of course, the local eateries. Penn Center and the Gullah Festival were on our itinerary and did not let us down. Once we were oriented we covered most of the roads on St. Helena, paved and unpaved.

The house was impeccably clean and had all the amenities necessary for a very comfortable stay. We had all the room we needed between the 3 decks, the 2 dinner tables, the large kitchen and the huge property.

We rent homes in Michigan and Jamaica and will add this one to the list for next year. We are already planning to drive down for a 2 week stay next year. Las Brisas is the perfect late spring vacation house for us.

Really nice!

  • 4 of 5

Initially we had a difficult time finding the home and I would strongly suggest renters follow the directions from the landlord. GPS was not successful. But a nice clean home and just the privacy we needed.

A cozy, secluded getaway

  • 5 of 5

The property was amazing!! We loved exploring the marsh and walking the secluded sandy trail beside it. The yard had a great low country feel to it with live oaks and palmetto trees. There was a secluded beach within walking distance that was the perfect place to walk or sit and read a book. The house only a short (5 mile?) drive to Hunting Island State Park. We made the drive there every day but one. That place was beautiful and the kids loved the beach! Debra includes a pass to the state park with the house; this was such a perk! She was so helpful through the whole process of booking and staying in her home. The house was so cozy and had wonderful views through the big windows. Coffee tastes better with a view! We spent most of our time enjoying the breeze on the screened porches. The kids were at home here and had plenty of room to wander and play. We had a great week here and hope to visit again!

Fun location

  • 5 of 5

Took family. Four kids ages 7-12. This was great. Went to hunting island. Thanks for letting us borrow pass. Went paddle boarding. Horse back riding. The house was great. My kids liked the outdoor portions of home. Was clean and neat. Had plenty of kitchen ware. And down the road to Hunting island was free ice cream. They loved that part.

It was great for relaxing. And the crows nest was awesome!

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 people stay and had no problems. This house was perfect for a relaxing beach trip. They had everything we needed to kick back and forget our worries. I never heard any of my 4 kids (7,9,15,16) complain about being hot or board or anything for that matter. Weather they were playing games on the decks or running around the property, it was all smiles all week. And that my friends makes me happy. We were close enough to Bay street that my wife and i could spend a day walking the shops. And there are so many small shops and great places to eat that we caint wait to go back again. Hunting island had just opened back up so we were lucky enough to go spend a day on the beach there and see the light house. All in all i wish it wasnt over!
