The gourmet kitchen, fully stocked with cooking implements, dishes, and cookware for any meal, is adjacent to the Great Room, the cook is never left out of the action! Nearby is a wet bar, dining area and powder room.

We are part of an association which boasts a large deep water U-shaped dock with a slip available for a boat up to 20 feet in length. As well, we have 6-8 kayaks for our guests use, along with two, recently purchased, kid sized kayaks. Swimming off the deep water dock is a breeze due to two sturdy ladders making it easy to get in and out of beautiful Lake George. Guests with small children may wish to visit the town beach. Gull Bay town beach is a five minute drive from the house and is located in Gull Bay. It is a clean and quiet sandy beach that slopes gently into the water.

About Marta Kolman

As a child, I spent my summers in a boys camp that my Father ran for many years. Although I loved the lake and all the water activities, I did not like being the only girl in the camp (besides my mother)! Since that time, it became a fantasy of mine to have my own spot on Lake George. Having this home has far exceeded my wildest dreams. I cherish every moment I have on Lake George and cannot believe my good fortune. I love being able to share my dream & joy with people who value and appreciate Lake George and the Adirondack mountains, as I do.

Marta Kolman purchased this house in 2010

Why Marta Kolman chose Putnam Station

As Thomas Jefferson once wrote to his daughter.., "Lake George is, without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw...," says it all!

What makes this house unique

We designed & built our home to capture the natural beauty of Lake George and the surrounding mountains whether it be from the great room or from the decks. We have focused our efforts on providing many modern amenities for our guests to make their experience that much richer and memorable.

Pefect Lake House

  • 5 of 5

We loved our 3 nite stay at The Red House. Located in a quiet little bay on the east side of northern Lake George, straight across the lake from the Waltonian islands. The bass fishing on the east side is terrific. My family an I have been coming to this area for the past 25years and found Gull Bay to be perfectly located to enjoy all that LG has to offer, including an easy drive to Ticonderoga for anything you need, much easier than the lower, more crowded sections of the lake. The house has everything you need, just bring your food, the kitchen is well equipped. Nice boat house too. Marta was a tremendous host and very attentive to all of our communications. Can't wait to return!

Owner's Response: Excellent! I know our home is situated so that it's easy to enjoy much of what beautiful Lake George has to offer, but not being one who fishes, I had no idea about the bass fishing. That's great information! Thanks and looking forward to your return :-)

Great house, awesome dock, quiet corner of L. George

  • 5 of 5

Gorgeous house - overlooking Lake George. Cozy interior with tons of modern conveniences. Kitchen is great, lots of custom touches. 3 decks at the house in addition to a very large dock/boat house on the water. Firepit on a ledge in close proximity to the house but within eyesight and earshot of Lake George's waters. Marta was incredibly accomodating and open. Stargazing (weather permitting) is a must. Tons of firewood for outdoor fires or indoor wood burning stove. Modern TV with dish and plenty of stations. Marta went to great lengths to ensure her tenants are taken care of. Photos throughout the kitchen on where things are stored, and information cards throughout the entire house for guests to operated the multi-zone heating/cooling/lighting/and entertainment. Would highly recommend this house to anyone visiting the northern part of Lake George. Bring food/drink/music and truly unwind.

How do you spell perfection? The answer is "That Red House!". Are you looking for a home with a million dollar view? Check that off your list. A Chef's kitchen with everything (and I mean everything) that you need. The beverage bar was a major plus. My family of six, and our Yorkie arrived to find freshly cleaned home, ready to host a fun filled week. Not waiting to unpack, everyone headed down to the dock, and ventured out on the kayaks to check out beautiful Lake George. Our fisherman enjoyed heading out early in the morning to fish. We took Marta's advice, and rented a boat for a day from Dockside Landing Marina. They picked up our boat driver to fill out paperwork, and he came back with the boat. Toured all of Lake George, and did some tubing. At night we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets from the sun deck, and then s'mores at the fire pit. Also enjoyed many of the games provided, and laughed until we cried. "That Red House!" is an easy one hour drive to the town of Lake George. Enjoyed a tasty lunch at the Adirondack Pub & Brewery on Rt. 9. (Also noted shopping outlets!) Marta was so responsive, and helpful throughout the entire rental process. Really looking forward to our next vacation at "That Red house!". Thank you Marta and Tim!!

Look no further for the perfect family getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We looked for a house to rent on Lake George to accommodate our family (two daughters, their husbands and children) for our family vacation and found the ideal place. “That Red House” couldn’t have been more perfect! We walked into a meticulously clean, comfortable, spacious home with breathtaking views from every window. There was plenty of room for everyone to do their own thing or spend time together. We spent most of the week down by the lake swimming and fishing off the dock and kayaking in the several kayaks provided, which also conveniently included swim vests for everyone. Our quadriceps got a good workout as we climbed the hill from the dock to the house every day—a hike not for those out-of-shape! The large table on the upper deck served us well—for having meals together, playing board games or just enjoying the incredible views. The kids loved the triple bunk beds! In fact, all the beds were very comfortable and there were plenty of fluffy towels to go around. My daughters and I love to cook and we were in heaven cooking in the well-stocked, magnificent kitchen that could easily be featured in “Better Homes and Gardens.” There’s so much counter space that we had plenty of room to move around without getting in each other’s way; and enough cooking utensils to prepare several dishes simultaneously. Do bring enough food to last your stay, though, because once you’re at “That Red House” you won’t want to leave. The nearest store to buy groceries is Walmart, about 20-25 minutes away.

Marta, the owner and ultimate host, was very attentive making sure we had everything we needed. All the ‘fixin’s” for s’mores awaited us to make at the private fire pit, which was a welcomed treat! Her kindness and thoughtfulness right from our first contact never ended and went well beyond our expectations. During our stay, she purchased two kid-sized kayaks for our young granddaughters to use. (They had been kayaking with their older cousins because it was a little awkward for them to maneuver the adult kayaks alone.) The high point of the week for them was the first time they went kayaking solo! For the rest of us, the week was filled with so many unforgettable memories it will keep us talking about it forever. So, if you’re looking for the perfect getaway for a family vacation—look no further than “That Red House!” Thank you Marta and Tim for sharing your spectacular home and providing everything we needed to make our family vacation a dream come true!
