It was big and comfy, rustic for sure. Great porch! Had everything we needed and location was good-more like 20/25 minutes to Kings Canyon though (not 12 minutes). The entrance road to cabin was better than expected though could be bad in rain or snow. We made it fine in a Honda Civic. Communication and entry was perfect.

If you want to be away from the tourists in the park, this is the place. So secluded, in a beautiful country rustic cabin with all the comforts you would need. The porch is a gem with outdoor seating and table to enjoy the sunrise or sunset. You truly feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, with fresh mountain air but you are just 7 minutes from the main road to Kings Canyon. Great for a family to feel like explorers. Be slow on the dirt road, but otherwise our minivan had no problems.

Awesome cabin minutes from Kings Canyon entrance. Exactly what we needed after a long day of driving from Sequoia NP through Kings Canyon. Complete respite. Beautiful blue oak tree at the deck. Enjoyed watching the deer on their morning routes through the property.

It sounds like you had the perfect park itinerary, and we're happy we could provide a relaxing landing pad after all that driving. Watching the deer from the deck is one of the best ways to start the day out here. Come back and visit us next time you're exploring the area!

Beautiful remote location! We decided to spend some time in the snow and this place delivered! We stayed cozy with the wood burning stove, and the internet was strong, and the kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. The hosts were very responsive to questions. My daughter loved the loft bedroom, which was the coziest room of the house. Make sure your vehicle can handle a slightly dicey road where you will need clearance and good traction.

This is a great place to stay just outside Big stump entrance of Kings canyon(15 minutes) Very private. Clean. Cozy. Quiet. Had everything we needed. Enjoyed the wildlife and view.(Even the frog living in the bathroom sink!) Nice king bed. No ac but we didn’t need it on Labor Day weekend. Hope to come back!

So renters beware: when you read "rustic cabin", think one notch up from YMCA cabin. There is a Betty Crocker sized oven/stove top for cooking. When we used the oven to heat dinner, the entire cabin filled with raw propane fumes so we ate outside. The bathroom really was gross: stunk terribly of mildew which was coming from an old tub with long cloth shower curtains that stayed wet in the bottom of the tub and one of those rubber mats with suction cups lining the tub: it always holds water/ moisture underneath. It was also very dimly lit.The living room had a big vinyl couch and a chair: comfortable unless you stuck to it as we did since it was 98 degrees INSIDE! Oh, did I forget to mention (as the owners did in their description), there is NO A/C! Yes, the cabin gets very hot in the summer and fall. Have fun sleeping sticking to the sheets! At least you can open the double doors from the MBR to the front porch: except that the screen in front only seals with a few magnets (no frame) with gaps everywhere to let the mosquitoes and flys in. There was a rickety floor fan to blow air around. Can't open windows as those screens are also shot: see photos. Finally: the "road" to this cabin is a washed out dirt road with deep ruts and quite steep: you need a truck or 4WD. We had a rental front wheel drive with wheels slipping most of the way up. The road is unmarked and is basically an alley behind a run-down BBQ shack. The redeeming quality: proximity to the park.

The listing does say 1940’s cabin so I shouldn’t have been surprised however most of it had been replaced. Main problem is the road I.e. “trail” getting to the cabin. It’s almost less than one lane, all dirt or mud, uphill, downhill, curvy & rutted with drop offs. It was impassable the day it rained/snowed, Dicey for 2 days after. Highly recommend you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle if you rent this cabin & check the weather forecast first. 2nd problem is lack of HVAC. Can’t speak for hot weather but it was cool/cold when we were there in late April & the cabin is COLD. There are 2 wall heaters that “knock off the chill” but incapable of warming the space. The bathroom gets NO heat at all so remains cold. There is a wood burning stove that heats up the main room & loft areas well if you don’t mind building a fire & there is sufficient dry wood. The kitchen is NOT good for cooking in. No dishwasher, minimal pots/pans (had to cook 1 lb gnd. beef in 2 pots for chili) they are old & worn, one kitchen hand towel was provided so had to use copious paper towels to dry dishes after handwashing. The deck is large but crumbling. The MBR has French doors leading out to deck but no curtains. Lighting in cabin is minimal - it was difficult to read. Decor is ehh. Positives: Comfortable king size bed in master bedroom, comfortable couch/loveseat, good WIFI, privacy, close to Northern entrance to Sequoia/Kings Canyon, and hosts are responsive.

Fun rustic getaway for our family!

We had the best time spending the day playing board games, reading, spending time together and at night watching Christmas movies with hot cocoa and snuggling by the fire. The road to get there in November during the rain makes the road muddy and challenging but not impossible as long as you have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle you should be fine. We were skeptical at first since the manager was not minimizing the condition ofroad but heywe have an all wheel drive suv and this was an adventure so we went for it and we were glad we did because it is secluded away from the roads and very peaceful. There were a couple hiccups with the oven not working. Stove worked just fine so we used that instead and there is also a toaster oven. The coffee pot is small so you may want to bring your own if you like coffee. No dish towels but plenty of paper goods like paper towels, plates, napkins, etc. We had 4 adults and two kids (10 and 12) on this trip and so 2 adults slept in the downstairs room. The other two adults slept in The double bed upstairs which was a tight squeeze no matter how much you love your spouse and the kids in each twin beds . I would say if you have more than one couple then the double bed may not do well for you. There is a day bed downstairs as well with a pull out trundle. Overall this is a little gem in the woods and you can tell the owner has put a lot of hard work into restoring it. It really is rustic and off the beaten path and just what we were looking for!

Realize what you're signing up for: no A/C, rough access road, and simple cabin layout. But this was perfect for our stay. We were there in July, so it was a little warm during the day. We learned how to position the fans in the evening to draw in the cool mountain air as the sun went down. The gas stove / microwave / refrigerator worked great, and we never ran out of hot water. Finally, the internet connection was good enough for streaming and online meetings.
