Charming Cottage with Large Deck and Ocean Views, Short Walk to beaches
With water views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Sesachacha Pond, our family-friendly beach cottage sits on the hill overlooking Quidnet. In five minutes, one can walk down a rambling path to a secluded ocean beach or meander through the village to access the main entrance to the Atlantic or pond beach, which is great for kids! The house has cable (flat screen) TV, internet, Wi-Fi, a large front deck with lots of sun, and two living rooms, one on the second floor. Both have large picture windows and great views. There are three bedrooms in the cottage: two masters and a room with twin-beds. In total, the house can sleep seven. The exposed-wood master bedroom on the second floor has ocean views and a private bath with tub. The downstairs master bedroom has a queen size bed and an en-suite private bath with shower. The third bedroom has twin beds with a powder room down the hall. There is a day bed in the second floor living room, suitable for an overflow guest. Of course we have an outdoor shower too!
We have a full herb garden on the deck...please help yourself. Other amenities include microwave, dishwasher, full laundry with washer and dryer, a clothesline for fresh-air drying, beach towels, a Blackstone Griddle for cooking alfresco. We have plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards in the outdoor closet. The outdoor shower, located in the afternoon sun, is the perfect way to wrap up a beach day. The large deck is fully furneished with a teak dining table and umbrella. Chez lounge chairs also grace the deck for post-beach naps. There is no AC in this summer cottage; we embrace open windows and ocean breezes. There are 3 beautiful bamboo ceiling fans, one in both Living rooms and the other in upstairs master, as well as a few portable fans. In the event of cold temperatures there are plenty of down comforters in closets.
We have recently installed a beautiful cranberry enamel Vermont Castings wood stove, for cold Spring and Fall days currently NOT for use by summer renters.
Quidnet is a hidden gem, quiet and safe, located 8 miles from town and 4 miles from the fishing village of Sconset. For a casual beach vacation, away from the hustle and bustle of town, this family cottage provides the perfect respite for summer relaxation. To current Nantucket standards, this is an eclectic summer heirloom, yet you will adore its location and charm. Each year, we anticipate mornings on the deck, taking in the sweeping views to Sankaty Lighthouse, smelling the rosa rugosa infused air, sipping coffee on the deck and decompressing into a Quidnet Summer!

We are returning renters who have been coming to the island for decades--Stew Pot is an awesome cottage with beach views and a grand back deck where everyone collects for family meals! Not an opulent place, but more importantly lived in and loved! We hope to be back year after year.
We loved the location and size of this wonderful family home - Stewpot is a short walk to the beach and offers beautiful views from the huge deck. The house was spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked. Liza was a thoughtful host who was in regular communication as needed - we appreciate her sharing her beloved home with us, and we hope to return!
StewPot is a delight--warm, welcoming and comfortable. Highlights include short walk to the beach, fantastic deck with plancha grill that made for terrific family outdoor meals, lovely second floor hang out and a well stocked kitchen. We practically had the beach to ourselves except for a pair of seals we saw multiple mornings. 3-17 September.
Quidnet is a wonderful, quiet part of Nantucket - calm even on the busiest days and great for small children. Stewpot had plenty of room, was clean and very well outfitted. Kitchen is great - with everything you could possibly need. Easy communication with host, quick to answer questions. We were there in July and lack of AC was fine given extensive fans and open windows.
Our second year at the Stewpot was even better than the first! The house was as beautiful and inviting as always. The newly painted downstairs bedroom was beautifully appointed and the new mattress and fan upstairs added to our comfort level. Liza, our host was as accommodating as ever. She was in regular communication throughout our stay and made the check in/out and booking process very easy and pleasant. We have already booked our stay for 2024!

Just wonderful. We loved staying at the cottage!
My family has vacationed in Quident for over 20 years. We just absolutely loved staying is this beautiful cottage. The cottage was well equipped for everything from all the beach items you would need to cooking and grilling. Outdoor shower was terrific! We watched the stars from the wonderful deck overlooking the pond & Sankaty lighthouse while relaxing after a day of biking and swimming. Also, kayaking on the pond was fun. The ocean beach is a short walk out the back door on the beach trail. Which is the best beach on the island. We rented bikes and road them into Scionsent using the bike trails around Nantucket. A great way to see the island and its beautiful views. Just a magical cottage and perfect for all activities in and around Quident. The drive into town was quick and a car is needed. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. But really would like to keep to myself.

Loved Quidnet & Stewpot
We had a great week in Quidnet at Stewpot. We’ve been bopping around the island for a few years but I think we’ve found our perfect spot. We loved the quiet beach, the friendly neighbors, the moonrise over the ocean! It’s an easy and fun walk to the beach or pond. There are plenty of beach chairs umbrellas and towels.
Stewpot itself is a gem. I’m reluctant to tell everyone how great it is, in case it becomes the hot commodity it deserves to be. It clearly is well loved family beach cottage with bits of family art and memorabilia displayed. It really doesn’t feel like rental at all, more like a friend’s home. I appreciated that it was clean, neat, well appointed but not too serious- you can relax there! Plus I’m a sucker for well stocked bookshelves. It was pretty spacious for the three of us, but we loved having the bonus living room upstairs the great views of the ocean. It might be perfect for two small families. The upstairs also had a beautiful master bedroom and another full bathroom. For the tech & media minded, WiFi and tv worked just fine.
We hope to be back!
From the heart-shaped stones in the quaint outdoor shower, the smell of fresh flowers thoughtfully left by the host, to the breathtaking views from the glorious deck and cozy upstairs living room, Stewpot is heaven on Earth. Our stay could not have been better. Communication with the host, Liza, was excellent. She was in constant communication from the time we booked through our stay, addressing every need and question and offering helpful suggestions. The house was immaculate and well stocked with amenities from spices in the kitchen and fresh herb garden on the deck, the arugula was to die for, ample beach towels and chairs and bikes for us to enjoy the village of Quidnet. The walk to the beach was delightful and easy, with access to the Atlantic Ocean and Sesachacha Pond. We hope to be back year after year to enjoy this glorious piece of Nantucket.
What a special house, in a quiet part of the island. Liza was helpful and responsive and Stewpot is just as charming as you’d hope. Hope to be back soon!
Liza is so easy to deal with regarding the rental and so helpful! We enjoyed the bottle of wine with our lobster! Thanks so much. Stewpot is wonderful and great for 2 families. The beach is close by and the house is well stocked with beach supplies. We loved the kitchen and all the spices and cooking supplies. Thank you for everything!!!
We enjoyed our week at Stewpot again this year. Everything was wonderful and they even made some very nice improvements since last year- new kitchen, decking and new clothes dryer! We love Stewpot.
Stewpot is a great place for a family stay in Quidnet
The Stewpot is a wonderful home, very comfortable, with every amenity for your family vacation. Comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen, two wonderful living rooms, even a Forever-On hot water heater. The views of the ocean and the pond from the house are incredible. Even the bookshelves are packed with interesting, thoughtful books and games. Beach chairs and coolers are provided. The walk to the ocean or pond is about 5 minutes down a quiet country road in the little village of Quidnet. All you need to bring are the kids and grandparents!

Wonderful ocean beach vacation!
House is both comfortable and practical. GREAT DECK, spent a lot of evenings there. Plenty of beach stuff (chairs, towels, etc.). Loved just sitting on the beach watching the seals and my son caught a stripped bass in the surf. Did some biking, ate great food from Bartlett's Farm. Life is good, hate to leave.

Fantastic house in a beautiful setting
Stewpot is a delightful cottage with many great spots to sit and enjoy the view and spend time with family. The setting is remote for Nantucket, which suited us given our hectic careers. The cottage had everything we needed. Quidnet is a pretty little beach community. We'll be back!

Great property, would recommend to a friend!
We had such a great stay at the Stewpot! It is in the perfect location for little kids. Our two boys had the best time at the near by pond right next to the ocean beach access. It was any easy bike ride over. We preferred to not go into town much, just easier to cook for little kids at the house (everything you need is in the kitchen) but when we did it was a close ride. Sconset was even closer and had a great market for coffees and baked goods as well as any last minute things you may have forgotten to bring. The owners were easy to get in touch with for any questions and left a very detailed list of house related items as well as great recommendations on what to do during your stay. The house was so charming which is exactly what we were looking for.. true Nantucket cottage. The only downside is walls are thin so if one child wakes up everyone does :/ but overall such a great place to stay! Hope to go back next year!

Great Property, Great owners
The house was amazing!! It was a perfect distance to the beach, and the views were amazing! It was a comfortable cottage for our family. The home had all the basics. There were some issues, but the owner, Liza, and her husband were both amazing! The helped and responded quickly. Thank you to them! They made the trip that much better!

About the host
Hosted by Liza S. Connolly
This family summer cottage has been on the rental market for just 5 summers. It is owned by 3 generations-originally of the STEWARDSON FAMILY. Our father fell in love with Quidnet when he was working on island during college summers. He brought my mom specifically to Quidnet to buy whatever they could afford. There were 2 houses available at the time, and this was his first choice because of the amazing views and the proximity to the village. Of course it was also out of his price range. Knowing the house would disappear if he didn't act quickly, he called his father, sold him on the investment and they bought the house together. For 55 years it has been our family glue. The place where we gather every summer to go clamming, blue berrying, scalloping, fishing, sailing and surfing. We sit on the beach under an umbrella together and race into the ocean no matter what our ages. It's the place where we slow down enough to play cards and monopoly. We make huge family dinners with lobster, corn and fresh tomatoes from the local farms. Now our childhood friends from Quidnet have children and our children play with theirs.
This is a dear house, a tapestry of our lives together. Our family is currently in transition with the oldest generation not being able to come to the island for an extended visit any longer, so we have decided to rent for some of the summer.
Why they chose this property
This property is in one the most unique locations on the island. Quidnet is truly a village that has retained its old world qualities, even in the face of change on the island. Though town (which can be crowded with visitors) is only 8 miles away, Quidnet remains serene. The beauty of Quidnet is unbeatable with both the pond and the ocean. Meandering dirt roads and paths through the village and down to the beaches conjure up images and feelings of a more innocent and communal time.
What makes this property unique
1. Our deck is unbeatable and makes a wonderful living space. 2. We have a new kitchen in the cottage which is well equipped thanks to the Chef in our family. The pantry cabinet includes lots of spices, oil, vinegar etc. The garden on the deck is loaded with fresh herbs and wild arugula. Help yourself. 3. We have a bar in the upstairs living room ...perfect for a morning espresso or an evening glass of wine. 4. Plenty of old world charm in this cottage. You will truly feel you are away on an island.
