Feel at home in our charming adobe and tile home with decks and views of the ocean from almost every room. Hot tub off deck and off street parking. New ramp makes the entire house attractively accessible. It is a two bedroom, two bath casita overlooking the Sea of Cortez and the surrounding mountains with great outside sitting areas and views. The main room, kitchen and bedrooms have lots of light and breezy windows overlooking the Sea. New mini splits in each room provide quiet heat or coolness as needed. Efficient kitchen with brand new appliances, gas fireplace, walk/roll in showers, TV/VCR, internet, gas grill, and pots of amazing cactus that take turns blooming on the veranda. House overlooks the San Carlos golf course, a short walk away. San Carlos is a very safe, relaxed Mexican town about 5 hours south of Tucson, Arizona, outside of Guymas. Nice beaches, great hikes, great restaurants and beach bars, a good variety of live music, wonderful kayaking, and lots of time to do nothing. The people in San Carlos are very nice and patient with Gringo spanish/english - lots of sign language, but we don’t have any trouble getting by. This house is on the edge of town, about five minutes from everything and a leisurely walk to the beach. Let us provide local tips and suggestions that will make your stay an authentic Mexican adventure.

We are from Durango, Colorado - a retired school teacher and real estate investor. We spend about four months a year in San Carlos, enjoying the weather, hanging out, and sailing on the beautiful Sea of Cortez. We love the Mexican, laid-back life style. We also love Durango and travel to new places every year, but coming back to San Carlos aways feels like home. Carol is using this charming house to finish her first novel and Richard enjoys all the projects that home and boat owning provide.

Why Owner chose San Carlos
We just purchased this wonderful little home for our regular visits to San Carlos. We were looking for a real Mexican beach town with friendly people, great beach bars, a variety of restaurants, and the easy going Mexican way of life. There is a thriving American/Canadian community in town so you can get by without a lot of Spanish though the locals are very nice about helping you learn more. This is NOT a fancy resort town - there is plenty to do, but be prepared to relax and enjoy yourself. La Pura Vida Mexican style. We fell in love with this lovely house the first time we saw it. It was designed and built by an architect and an artist (1998) who put loving, artistic thought into every detail. It is totally homey while charmingly beautiful at the same time. The furnishing are comfortable and attractive. The kitchen is cozy and efficient with top line new appliances. Air-conditioning and central heating will keep the house at the perfect temperature, though most of the time you just have to open the windows and enjoy the sea breezes! We have tried to include everything you might need for a comfortable, easy stay. The inside of the house is bright and airy and there is as much living space outside as inside - several inviting sitting spots for reading or entertaining. The house and area is pleasantly private, but only five minutes from the beach and all the fun spots of town. We are looking for renters who like this type of house as much as we do and will want to return regularly!
What makes this House unique
We bought this house from a professional photographer and his wife who is a graphic designer and were fortunate enough to buy and inherit some of their amazing artwork. The house is filled with photographs of birds taken in the San Carlos area - you won't believe how striking they are. For that reason, we named the house Pajarera which is Spanish for The Bird House. The house is a short walk to the San Carlos Golf Course - not your fancy US golf, but well laid out and fun to play. There is great kayaking in the area as well as top notch fishing expeditions. If you have a four wheeler, you can journey out into the back country and beaches - rustic desert where the cactus meets the sea. The previous owner cultivated an amazing collection of potted plants and cactus that create your own little jungle, complete with a delightful assortment of birds. The master bedroom overlooks the Sea with the sun rising through the plantings outside the East window. The house is all on one floor and we are working to make it completely wheelchair accessible later this year.

Property and the house was very nice
Property and the house was very nice. Everything was good except the Wi-Fi and TV did not work asked the news The lady we pick the keys up from to have someone come check it out that was on Saturday nobody came nobody called was there for four days with no Wi-Fi or TV. Also started to get ants coming through the fireplace found the remote for the gate on the last day nobody told us where it was I feel they should go through more issues with the house like the controllers and the TV the Wi-Fi where the controller is just go over things A little more thoroughly other than that everything was great thanks again
We had a fantastic week in this beautiful home! Every possible detail has been thought of. The owners and manager were very responsive to the few questions we had. We felt right at home with the cozy furnishings, well appointed kitchen, and outdoor living area complete with bbq, hot tub, and that VIEW! The only problem was that the week went too fast and we didn't want to leave. We would definitely come back again!
Thanks, Karen. Hope to see you again next year.
Peace, Privacy and Pleasure
We enjoyed a romantic getaway at this stylish and thoroughly enjoyable Mexican home for a week in late July 2017. It is a moment's drive from the main street in San Carlos but well out of the way of busy streets and prying eyes. We especially enjoyed the quiet (aside from bird song), privacy, the convenient layout of the home and outdoor living area, the private parking spot and especially the hot tub which sits in the shadow of Tetakawi. We would return in a heart beat for another week like that one! Best one week rental ever!
We had the good fortune to stay in this idyllic spot during our week in San Carlos. Inside and out, this house is spectacular - it blends beautifully into its surroundings, providing magnificent views, privacy, comfort, and convenience. The expansive patio looks over the town and out to sea.....a wonderful setting for meals, entertaining, gazing at the night sky, or simply watching the horizon. A cozy enclosed outdoor area is the perfect place to read, write, nap, or play cribbage. The grounds are full of flowering trees, bushes, cacti. There can be little motivation for going indoors - until you do! Clean, comfortable, casually elegant, the house inspires relaxation and easy living. A fully equipped, gourmet kitchen makes cooking an enjoyable activity. The spacious living room with its incredible views is yet another inviting place to spend time. We especially loved the airy feel throughout the house which could make being inside as pleasant as being outdoors. The two bedrooms have plenty of space, closets, and comfortable beds. The two bathrooms are spotless, modern, and as easy to maintain as the rest of the house with the tile floors. We were able to find anything and everything we needed during our stay - whether it was a book to look up a bird we spotted, kitchen equipment, a game to play, towels for the shower or beach, or utensils for the grill. A washing machine was a useful bonus! The location of this house was ideal for us - we were close enough to walk to town, but being up in the hills gave us more quiet privacy - and front row seats for the stunning sunsets. The town of San Carlos offers a number of excellent, inexpensive restaurants, interesting shops, hiking trails, and a variety of beautiful beaches without the hype or bustle of a "tourist town." We would highly recommend this property, hesitating only out of selfish reasons - we would hate to have it become unavailable to us!!
Thanks, Nancy and Wayne. You are welcome back any time!
