We spent a week here with our extended family and had a wonderful time. It’s a very special location and we would love to come back! The porch, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and views cannot be beat. Thank you for a great stay!

Wyldewood Lodge was exactly what we were looking for. My son, my father and my brother in law stayed for a full week for a boys fishing trip. I wanted a place on the water without paying for frills we wouldn’t use. Wyldewood Lodge was exactly what we were looking for. This property was a camp, not a lodge, cluttered and a little grimy for our taste. We were 4 ladies “of a certain age” ranging from 69 to 83. The place may be charming for some. The location on the lake was ideal. Beautiful scenery, but the stairs were a challenge with the only bathroom upstairs. The porch bedroom would have been wonderful, but once we got the shutters up and secured, the sills were covered with dirt and dead bugs. The request that we take the garbage to Poultney midweek was unreasonable. All that said, we did enjoy our stay, but believe the condition of the place was somewhat misrepresented. I say this as a person who spent my childhood at the lake when most of the dwellings were “camps” and have since been torn down.

Thank you for your feedback. Wyldwood Lodge is our family’s historic lake camp, named by my grandfather, with the original sign still hanging over the front porch. We try to clearly represent its character and layout in the listing, including dozens of photos showing the stairs, upstairs bathroom, screened sleeping porch, shutters, and the property. I appreciate you mentioning the porch window sill. The cottage is professionally cleaned between every guest, and had you let me know during your stay, I would gladly have had it addressed right away. I’d also like to clarify that we do not request midweek trash removal. Guests are simply asked to take their trash to the Poultney Transfer Station upon checkout. Our crew removed the two large bags left at the property after your departure. We truly appreciate your visit and your perspective, particularly given your own history with traditional lake camps. Thank you again for staying at Wyldwood Lodge and for sharing both what you enjoyed and where you felt we could improve.

Charming old camp right on Lake St Catherine. Finally got to try out one of the old clawfoot tub-showers! Interesting experience. The entire place was interesting. We loved the many relics of the past that were scattered throughout. Beautiful lake views as advertised. Highly recommend the Cluckin' Chicken on 30 and Larson's Farm milk. One thing that was not obvious to us - bring your own linens. We did find blankets in seemingly random places and were hesitant to use them but it got chilly so we did that first night. We don't live too far away so just went back the next day to stock properly (we'd forgotten something else anyway, so not a huge deal for us but if you're coming from away, bring stuff). Note that we didn't bother the caretaker - perhaps we should have, but it was late by the time we figured that part out. I'm sure they would have been helpful. Have to say, though, we slept well and it felt like we were both home and glamping at the same time. Super easy to check in, plenty of information ahead of time, friendly and inviting welcome basket was a nice touch!

Wyldwood Lodge is a typical historic Lake St. Catherine 'camp'. For anyone who hasn't stayed at the lake, they are charming, rustic, cozy cottages that are SO much fun! It's like stepping back in time - in a good way. This cabin is all that and had everything a group of up to eight would need - a fully functioning kitchen, a tv and wifi (if you must!), and a full bathroom with a lovely, old-fashioned tub. Outside, there's a dock (if you have a boat), a great firepit where we made s'mores and star gazed, and a perfectly functioning grill. You can easily walk into the lake for a swim and there's a great float about twenty yards offshore that my teen-aged daughter loved for sunbathing. My family has been renting on the lake for over 50 years, and this cabin easily has the best views of the lake and mountains than any place we've stayed. Stunning views! And the owner was very responsive to any of our questions and needs. Word of caution is the bathroom is upstairs so going up and down the stairs was a little challenging for my 82-year-old mother (but she still loved her stay). Everyone in my family had a great time and would definitely come back in the future. Thank you for allowing us to stay at the Wyldwood Lodge, Cindy!

Lovely, charming cottage with awesome views of the lake and mountains.

Spacious living area and excellent views of the lake and mountains on Lk St. Catherine. Fully equipped kitchen. Hammock was fun with our grandaughter on our lap! Bedrooms are not big but mattresses are better than most rental cottages. Nice rental cottage.
