Quiere alejarse de la civilización ??? Conducir por aquí a nuestro hermoso "Island Hideaway" en su 4x4 ... O ... Si prefiere ... conducir su propio barco a nuestro muelle o tomar nuestros diez minutos "Water Taxi" de la isla de Knott, Carolina del Norte ... Vas a ser capaz de tirar hasta su refugio en el canal del lado del sonido, sin embargo, ser sólo un corto paseo a la playa donde se disparan las gaviotas, playeros se escurren y ponis Corolla deambulan libremente - el paraíso de los pescadores y de aventurero ! Siempre ha querido conducir en la playa, pero no tienen un vehículo de tracción a las cuatro ruedas ?? No hay problema ... Nos puede recoger y llevar a la playa a nuestra casa de campo y dar cabida a usted con un jeep de la diversión de la playa de conducción, visitando Corolla o el pato de restaurantes, tiendas o simplemente para recorrer y disfrutar de los hermosos lugares ... Vas a tener libertad para disfrutar de fogatas privados en el sitio, o una tienda de campaña si te gusta ... kayaks, canoas, tablas de paddle y está disponible sin cargo adicional.

Vacation

Our stay was great. Exactly as described. Rhonda and Chase were extremely nice and welcoming. Checked on us daily to make sure we were doing ok and to make sure there was nothing we needed.

Great location-Hosts were awesome!

My gf and I stayed at the cottage for 5 days and 4 nights. The cottage was cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. Hosts are very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Both are very nice and available but were not intrusive on our vacation. This is a great option for first time visitors in the OBX.

A true getaway

A lovely space on the owners property. Clean and comfortable. Ronda even brought us ice one day. You definitely need 4 wheel drive to get there. A fun adventure driving on the beach. You feel like you’re really away from everything. Saw a few wild horses from a distance. It was a nice relaxing break.

Perfect Honeymoon Escape

This was a perfect, cozy getaway for us on our honeymoon! The property was beautiful and everything we could have asked for. Ronda was amazing and made the stay fantastic for us! Couldn't recommend this property more and we hope to be back in the future!

Mother Daughter Getaway

Stunning! We planned a 5 day getaway on a secluded beach and was not disappointed! Starting with a gorgeous 30 minute 4x4 beach drive up the coast which was so fun and scary at the same time! You are literally driving next to the crashing waves! High tide is challanging to navigate, but only adds to the thrill of beach driving and i felt triumphant every time we made it to the house without getting stuck! The area off the beach is like driving/walking through another world, with prickly pear cactus, persimmon trees, and huge sand dunes all around. Wild horses, deer and numerous waterfowl are abundant and living side by side with humans here. Its wonderful to see how much respect is shown to the wildlife preservation of this area 💕 The house provided all of our needs, with a full kitchen too. ( minus a toaster! Lol) The whole area is quiet and serene, even at night. Early morning beach walking proved to be the best shell hunting, we found jellies, horse shoe crabs, mermaids purses, coral, and various large shells in good shape! The Beach: beach and waves as far as the eye can see! You can pack your vehicle for the day and drive to the spot of your liking anywhere along the miles of sand, and just spend the day. I have more to say, but running out of room! Excellent place to vacation. The best was the hospitality, top notch and sweet and caring. Chris and Ronda ensured we had all we needed and promptly answered all questions. WE WILL BE BACKKK!

Carova getaway

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our first time visit to Carova. The space was great and Ronda was very knowledgeable, friendly, and quick to respond when we had a question about the area. Will definitely return!

Secluded Vacay

We loved our vacation. The home was awesome and very relaxing. We really enjoyed sitting on the beach watching the waves and collecting sea shells. We went into town and played miniature golf.

Lovely Getaway

We came here for our anniversary and had a wonderful time! It is very secluded and so close to the beach. Rhonda was very helpful and communicative! I would highly recommend this stay!!

Beware, great location, aggressive dogs.

We had booked the cottage for my birthday. We arrived around 4:30. We were greeted by 2 very unfriendly aggressive Rottweilers. One proceeded to jump on my black 4 year old truck. The dog was lunging for the driver window for me. Dog has left very bad scratches on my truck that I now have to have repaired. After being greeted by the dogs I frantically called the owner, Ronda did answer the phone instantly. She proceeded to tell me I was supposed to call her on my way to the property. I explained that the only instructions I had received were that the door would be unlocked, key on counter, and to please close the gate. Then she tells me how much she dislikes VRBO, told me that she didn’t realize I was arriving that day. She quickly arrived at the house, apologizing profusely.The unit was not 100% ready, sheets were in the washer, dirty dishes on the kitchen table. She apologized, and this isn’t how she conducts business. She then offered us an additional night at no charge for the inconvenience. She also told me that the dogs are actually nice. And then she told me that she would have her “detail guy” come out and try to buff out the scratches out of my truck. I explained that the unit not being ready really wasn’t a big deal and I was really more upset about the truck being scratched. At this time I felt she was going to stick to her word. However my truck is still scratched. Had way to much anxiety because of dogs. There's not enough room to leave my fulll review.

Perfect Relaxing Getaway

Rhonda was the perfect host! The room was great and had everything we needed to relax and unwind. My husband and I explored the canals one day in the kayaks and discovered more of the local wildlife, horses and osprey. It was incredible! Highly recommend this little piece perfection!

Nice and Quiet

We had a wonderful stay with Chase and Rhonda. For those interested in reading this review, the place was nicely furnished and well kept. Perfect for a couple. Keep in mind it is a 1 room efficiency with queen bed, kitchenette, living area and separate bathroom and laundry rooms. Parking was inside a gate which added to the feeling of safety. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet. Rhonda checked in from time to time (but not too much) to see if we were OK. It was also nice to know if we did get stuck in the sand, we'd have a free tow. Fortunately we didn't and didn't need the service. I would however highly recommend a 4X4 to get to the place. Vehicles that are lower to the ground or don't have 4X4 were getting stuck on the beach. It takes several miles of on the beach driving to get there. Beautiful scenery on the drive. Or you could take them up on the offer to pick you up on the mainland and ride by boat. We opted for the drive which was nice b/c we got to drive around and see the horses as well as to and from the beach. The beach was never crowded. We always had about 40-50 and often times more yards between us and the next sun tanner. Since you'd be 35 to 40 minutes from any grocery store, plan accordingly and bring a cooler and some food, at least for the first night. Thanks to Rhonda, we did. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Perfect 10-year anniversary trip!

My husband and I stayed here for our 10-year wedding anniversary and our trip was amazing! Ronda is so sweet and so helpful. This was our first time coming to this beach and driving on the sand. We called Ronda when we were heading into town and she told us how much to air down our tires. The apartment was easy to find and our GPS took us right to it. It was very clean and nicely decorated! It was the perfect size for the two of us. Ronda was also so sweet to get us some ice for our cooler. She also recommended Uncle Ike's restaurant. We ate there twice and it was so delicious! You should definitely stay here if you are looking for an adventure! Driving on the beach is so fun and there are wild horses everywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful and secluded

The property is in a beautiful part of Carova Beach in the midst of the wild horse reserve. It's in a quiet neighborhood 30 min up the sand from any major roads. Rhonda was awesome, she made sure we found the place with no issues and made sure we had everything we needed.

Best vacation

Rhonda and Chase couldn't be better hosts! And now our friends! Their property is beautiful and the cottage is such a great place to stay. Nice and quiet and away from everything. They have extensive knowledge of the area and are very well respected by the people who live in this part of the OBX. The beach is gorgeous and the stars are unbelievable at night. Rhonda and Chase were right there to assist with any questions or offer any advice. The wild horses were walking right past the property and we loved eating breakfast on the deck and observing the horses. We saw all sorts of marine life while we were there every day including dolphins, horses,fish and pelicans. We did not have to drive far to pick up fresh seafood to cook in the cottage. If you are going to go to the outer banks this is where you should stay and we will definitely back. We got in very late at night and Rhonda was awake assisting us with directions which was extremely helpful . When we did arrive there was light music playing and a wax burner going which was welcomed after a long trip and helped us go right to sleep.

Disappointing Stay

Very disappointing experience! The owners had two very large dogs (Rottweilers) on the property that exhibited aggressive behavior multiple times during our brief stay. The entrance to the efficiency suite is located in the fenced area that the dogs are kept; we were chased back into our room by one of the dogs twice. When concerns were initially voiced Chase agreed to put the dogs in the house for the night but said that he would be letting them back out the next day. He did offer to put a shock collar on the youngest so that he could “light him up” if/when he exhibited aggressive behavior again, this offer was not reassuring. Following that conversation with Chase we contacted Rhonda to discuss options going forward…she was very rude and refused to take concerns seriously. We reserved the room for three nights but left after the first as it did not feel safe and the owners were very difficult to work with. Additionally, the room was not well-kept and had not been cleaned thoroughly. Dog hair and dead bugs could be found on the floor as well as on the dining table placemats. Rugs were heavily soiled and a dirty Q-tip was found behind the toilet on arrival. The key for our room was not provided initially and had to be requested. Very shocked at the reality of the situation as it had been described as private and peaceful, both of which are impossible when sharing the yard space with not only the owners but their very large dogs. If we had been made aware of the dogs prior to booking or arrival we would not have chosen this rental. Corolla is beautiful and would have been a wonderful experience under different circumstances.

Would like to say thank you to Chase and Ronda for a wonderful stay at there property on the 4x4 beach. The apartment was perfect for our 3 night stay. Everything was just as advertised. A great stay on the Outer Banks!

Unique OBX experience

I've been coming to Duck/Southern Shores/Corolla for years but this was my first time staying past where the road ends. The cottage is comfortable and the beach is five minute drive away. Our gracious hosts made us aware of the events happening in the area during our stay. Spending the majority of the time on beach, we saw plenty of the local wildlife and we were pretty much alone on the beach almost every day! Getting back to civilization for dinner out or going to the grocery store is about 45 minutes each way. I love driving on the beach so it was more of a treat than a burden.

Not everyone wants to rent a house that will accommodate a small village! This property accommodates only two or three and is tucked away, creating the feeling of being in one's own "Island Paradise." Relax in a hammock under a canopy of live oaks, listening to the breeze whistling through the leaves and the ebb and flow of the ocean waves. Grill and dine on your private patio or at the cute bistro table inside. After dinner, play a game, watch the flat-screen, direct TV, read a book, or snuggle. Whether you want to go out and enjoy all the natural sights or just "laze" around...Our nook is perfect for unwinding!
