Experience Life In One Of Italy's Most Beautiful Hilltop Villages

Bedrooms 1
Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Paciano is a medieval walled town built in 1324. It was voted 'one of the most beautiful villages' in Italy. It is a quiet and peaceful village with a population of less than 1,000 people. While tucked away in the splendid countryside, Paciano is 15 minutes by car to Chiusi, a train transit point South to Rome and North of Florence. During your stay at Casa Lagovista, you will hear the birds singing in the morning and see millions of stars at night. The atmosphere causes instant relaxation!

Casa Lagovista (means lake view in Italian) is located in the historic center of Paciano, steps away from our main piazza, 2 restaurants, 2 coffee bars and 2 food markets. The casa is a completely renovated apartment (1000 sq. ft) built into the ramparts of the wall of the village. The bedroom contains a comfortable King bed, sumptuous linens, a large closet and a balcony overlooking a green forested area and Lake Trasimeno. The bathroom is over-sized, contains a walk in glass-enclosed shower and lots of towels, soaps and lotions. The completely modern kitchen is furnished with granite counter-tops, dishwasher, a bright orange refrigerator, electric oven, gas cook-top and all of the requisite cooking tools to allow you to indulge your cooking whims.

The large living area contains a fireplace, a large comfy sofa, a dining table and a desk. WIFI internet connection allows you to stay connected from anywhere in the casa.

You can meet our on-site property manager, an American who has been living in Paciano for 10 years. She is fluent in Italian and a veritable fountain of ideas to make your stay in our village relaxing, informative and fun.

Please note that we have an adjacent renovated apartment, Lagovista Loft, also available. Accomodations for 2 adults. The two apartments occupy the whole top floor and afford lots of privacy. Lagovista Loft is Property 3471021 on

About Kerry Norman

Kerry Norman and Cordell Brown -- we live in Oklahoma City and have been traveling to Italy every year since 1990 and began renting places in Italy soon after. We dreamed of having our own place and decided on Paciano because of its location and charm. We love Paciano so much that we travel there twice a year and have made many friends, both Italian and ex-pats who have moved there to live.

Kerry Norman purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Kerry Norman chose Paciano

Casa Lagovista has every amenity you could want. After renting in many other places in Italy, we have made sure that we have included things that we missed in other properties. From the smallest detail (candles, tablecloths, novels which take place in Italy) to more functional items like umbrellas, robes, shopping bags, we have tried to anticipate your every need and want.

What makes this apartment unique

Sitting on the balcony sipping coffee or wine (depending on the time of day) and overlooking the wooded park behind us where all during the year there is something blooming is enchanting. On the other side of the apartment, the view is over the rooftops of the village and the countryside beyond!

Beautiful Place to Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Very neat little town of Paciano and to stay of the beaten path. I love the little apartments and the family feel of this town. They were so welcoming! I enjoyed all the restaurants in this town.

The apartment was perfect and had everything we needed. It was nice to have a washer in the apartment so we could pack lighter.

Would definitely recommend this place if you want to stay in a hilltop town. I loved all the experiences and close proximation to other towns nearby. It allowed us to experience more of Italy that I had imagined.

The perfect spot to really experience Italy

  • 5 of 5

The town of Paciano has an understated, subtle quality. The hustle and bustle is left behind and the true essence of Italy rises to the surface. There is a heady mixture of being in a place so steeped in legend and history, while at the same time enjoying the hiss and gurgle of the modern espresso machine and the first taste of the morning cappuccino. We spent our days adventuring all over central Italy. There are so many wonderful destinations just a short drive away that you can afford to be carefree and see where the day takes you. The possibilities are endless. After days filled with the breathtaking views, the delicious wine, the mouth-watering aroma of the sidewalk bistros, we were ready for a place that felt like home. And we found it!! These two apartments (our traveling party rented both - which I highly recommend) truly felt as comfortable and restful as home. They are so well thought-out, so well-appointed - we didn't want for anything. Some nights we stayed in and made truly delicious meals from the freshest of ingredients, other nights we ventured just a short walk away to one of the most elegant, adventurous and unforgettable restaurants I've ever been to. Because we rented both sides of this 800 year old building, we had a perfect combination of privacy, relaxing alone, and time together. Plus they each have their own unique feel - one is sheer perfection in the late afternoon sun - the other really comes to life when the evening lights bounce off the ancient stone wall - you can see the stories of the past right in the living room! In the mornings, I enjoyed wandering the old cobblestone streets of Paciano, in- and outside of the ancient walled city, in search of the best morning pastries. Once my sleepyhead companions were ready, we were off on another adventure. I will never forget our time in that apartment on the balcony with one of my very favorite views - the hillside, the idyllic farmland, the deep blue waters of the lake. Sitting there, sipping prosecco in the afternoon sun is a memory I will always cherish - and hope to repeat many times over!!

I would recommend this town, and specifically these two apartments without a moment of hesitation. I hope to return to Italy soon and often and will not look further.

The perfect stress free holiday.

  • 5 of 5

Have you ever tried to run away from all the activities in your life that cause stress only to find yourself in a foreign place where your stress levels are even higher? If you have and if you're still looking for that perfect place to experience stress-free nirvana, Casa Lagovista should be at the top of your list. The surrounding countryside of Umbria, the vineyards and olive groves that seem to go on forever, the ancient ruins and the people of Paciano weave this magical spell that keeps the stress of the world at bay. I was lucky enough to spend a month in this idyllic setting. I can genuinely say that I felt at home the minute I walked in. The apartment itself was so well appointed and supplied that I had nothing to stress out about there. (Even though the village was built in the 1200's everything about the apartment is up to date.) Margaret - the expert on the area as well as the owner's manager onsite can arrange for any activity from transportation from Rome to wonderful cooking classes and vineyard tours. She provides as much or as little help with your stay as you need. The most stressful thing I experienced the whole month was having to decide which amazing hilltop village to visit next - or not. Casa Lagovista became my home away from home. The kitchen is equipped to make it easy to try your hand at real Italian cooking. And if you must stay connected to the real world the WiFi and cable TV bring you back to the 21st century. But the walls that surround you were built in medieval times and their history seeps into your dreams and makes you feel a part of something magical. Recommend Casa Lagovista??? OMG I can't wait to get back there.

We loved our beautiful hillside home...!

  • 5 of 5

This lovely welcoming home in this charming village stole our hearts. We had a multi-stop Italian vacations, lots of shuffling about, both couples agree our time here was most precious and we look upon it with beautiful memories. It was spotless and roomy, the bathroom great, LOVED the balcony, we took lovely pics. Our couple friends stayed in the terrific loft across the hall, it was so fun. Exploring the sweet town was magical. The coffee shop treats, lovely terrace dinners, the gentlemen playing cards over siesta on the patio outside the grocery....overlooking the Tuscan countryside...all joyful. Margaret our sweet manager accompanied us to Cortona and LaCelle, and helped us understand treasures we would never had discovered on our own. Our day trips to PIenza and Montepulciano were fun and easy to navigate. We also took the train for Florence then Venice...again so nice to return to our lovely home, wash up a few things and re-group before we were off to the Amalfi coast. We would highly recommend this jewel and want very much to return!

Perfection & World Series in Paciano

  • 5 of 5

If there is a better apartment to rent in the area, I would like to see it! The location of Paciano can't be beat,@1 hr to Cortona and 45 mins. to Orvieto and everything in between! Margaret made our stay. Her suggestions were great, including the olive oil farm, Il Fontanaro, a must stop! For us, the apartment will forever be united with the Cubs winning the World Series. The tv carried the Fox Sports channel. As a native Chicagoan, getting up at 1am to watch the Cubs was a treat! The 3 rest are all restaurants are all worth a visit. The local bar down the street is the town gathering place. Thanks Margaret for a wonderful stay!
