Arizona is unique and I think it is one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. The warm winters make it an ideal vacation spot and I have seen the culture of this area develop into a place that has something for everyone. Hiking in the Grand Canyon 6 different times with family and friends has left me with some great memories. Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon, only a couple of hours away, has also provided my family some great vacations, with fishing, blackberry picking, and watching wildlife. The weather in the valley makes it ideal to be outside much of the time!
Karen purchased this House in 2012
Why Karen chose Starlight Estates
This vacation home allows me to come and see my son and daughter and grandchildren just about any time I want to. Because the house is large with an open split floorplan, it is easy to have all of us together. The courtyard design with bedrooms on both sides of the house allows group families to have privacy. Grandma and grandpa love having the bedroom over by the kitchen and allows them to get up early and make coffee without waking up others.
What makes this House unique
I love the area because the homes have privacy and space offering a peaceful environment in a natural desert surrounding. The great room with 16' ceilings and open floor-plan extends beyond to the large patio, pool and putting green area. The french doors from hallways and master bedroom that open on to the back patio make it easy to go and enjoy the wonderful Arizona air. Children can swim within view but still are far enough from the patio so that family lounging don't get splashed! I love that the home sits on a 1/3 acre corner lot and offers so much privacy. Wildlife abounds with bunnies and quail especially early in the morning! The area is also great for walking with little traffic and lots of saguaro cactus.

nice house would stay again
accessing the house was very easy and Karen was very good at communication prior to our arrival which made everything quite simple. the house was well stocked for a family I was very impressed
Great house for family reunion
We stayed that the house to enjoy the Ketucky Derby weekend at Turf Paradise. The house is much bigger than the pictures on VRBO. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, utensils, glasses, cups, coffee maker and Keurig!! This was one of the best stocked kitchens we have stayed. The property was clean and well-maintained. The backyard porch is an lovely extended living area with ceiling fan that keeps the porch cool even on warm days. We will be back in the fall for the Breeder's Cup!!!
Fantastic Thank you
Terrific property and experience for us
perfect for multiple families with kids!
Right from day 1 Karen was so great to converse with. She answered all of our questions in detail regarding the house and the layout of each room with suggestions of sleeping arrangements for kids and babies. She was flexible with checkout times which was awesome for the young ones in our group. When we arrived there was an issue with one of the toilets and she had it fixed immediately. The house is well stocked and there are more than enough towels and kitchen items for a large group. We enjoyed our stay immensely and I would not hesitate to book this house again! Thanks for everything Karen!
Relaxing pool home
This was a great property for a relaxing few days in the sun. Our family of five had a great time and the home had everything we needed.
I am glad you enjoyed my property and had everything needed there. I try to make sure guests feel like it is a 'home away from home.' Please know you are welcome anytime. Thanks for being great guests!
Love this place
I do not have a lot of experience staying in VRBO homes (just one prior stay and it wasn't a very good stay) but I can only hope all future stays are as good as this place. My husband & I took our married son, daughter, their spouses and three of our four grandchildren to AZ for their spring break. The grands are 8, 11 and 15 and they all loved this home. Karen was so easy to work with and easy to contact. Our kids said if we ever do this again, they would like to stay in this house. Comfortable pillow top beds, nice bedding, plenty of towels, dishes and anything we needed. Clean, spacious and just a welcoming kind of home. We loved how close it was to hiking, Lake Pleasant, water park, groceries and we could walk to Campbells Restaurant and Bar, which was a great place to eat! The only problem we encountered was the pool heater quit working but Karen offered and did return the pool heating fee without me even asking her to, which I felt was very kind. It was warm when we got there and the kids loved it so we are hoping for better luck with that next time. Things like that happen and we really appreciated Karen's quick response. I would encourage people to buy the Property Damage Policy as when we were cleaning up to leave, we started the garbage disposal and somehow a shot glass had fallen into the disposal and of course broke the glass and then jammed the disposal. I felt really bad to have to tell Karen what happened but I was also relieved to know it would be covered by the insurance. Things like that happen even when you try to be careful so $59 was a small price to pay to know Karen could have it fixed without worry of the cost. Thank you so much Karen for allowing us to use your home! We made some very special memories.
I’m so glad you and your family enjoyed the home and had a great time while in Peoria, AZ. I hope you will plan another trip to the area in the future and you will always be welcome to stay at my place. Thanks for being such great guests! Karen
Great location in north Peoria desert mountain region. 10 minutes to shopping sports stadiums, restaurants. Home is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of space on a 1/3 acre corner lot. The house is surrounded by desert, saguaro cacti, and wildlife but still so close to many restaurants and shops. JD Campbell's Restaurant is just a few blocks up 89th and left on Pinnacle Peak (down to 91st Ave.) My guests have enjoyed a nice walk up and back to eat breakfast. This house could not be in a better location! My guests all love it. Things to do in Peoria and on the West-side (the best side!):
Great golfing at such courses as Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia, the highly rated Quintero Golf Club, and many others. Spring Training Games where you can take in a San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, Athletics, Royals, Rangers, Indians, Angels, Giants, Rockies, White Sox, Reds are all at West-side stadiums: Peoria Sports Complex (15 minutes from the home), Camelback Ranch, Maryvale Stadium and Goodyear Ball Park. Or take in an NFL game at the University of Phoenix Stadium otherwise referred to as Cardinal Stadium. Also on the West-side, the renown Wildlife World Zoo where you can see critters of all kinds, land and sea animals, burrowing, reptiles, bugs, flying, and one of the few white tigers. This is a walking zoo and has petting areas and lovebird feeding areas, giraffe feeding platforms, a penguin house, Dillon's barbecue restaurant (some of the best barbecue in the valley) with floor to ceiling aquariums to sit by. I can’t say enough good things about this zoo—it is remarkable and just keeps getting bigger and better—folks of all ages really enjoy this place, especially with all the nice weather that AZ offers. For the racing enthusiasts, there is Phoenix International Raceway, also on the West-side! If you have folks in your group who want to do something a little daring, there is Turf Soaring School (15 m. from the house) where you can go up in a glider and request rolls and upside down if that is your thing! (I did it once and it is a thrill to be upside down hanging in your harnessed seat-belt straps looking through the Plexiglas dome roof of the plane while quietly gliding over the countryside). Take in a live show at the Arizona Broadway Dinner Theater; Theater Works for the kids, and take the whole family to the West Wind Glendale Drive-In Theater (one of the few left!). There is horseback riding out at the beautiful White Tanks at Pot O Gold Adventures. They have hayrides and also own Cowtown for those who love the paintball experience. Also on the west-side is the challenger Space Center, just 10 minutes from the house; Polar Ice Skating rink is 15 minutes away; Wet N Wild Water-park is a short drive away and certainly to please the kids; the Westgate area is down by Cardinal Stadium where you can shop and eat—the new outlet mall is close by as well; Arrowhead Mall is 15 minutes from the home and close to an incredible number of restaurants as well as the Peoria Sports Complex. Color Me Mine, a ceramics place where mostly the young paint, is just 10 minutes from the house, and yes on the West-side! If you want to venture away from the West-side, take the 101 Loop and go downtown where the Phoenix Art Museum, Heard Museum, Police Museum, Firetruck Museum, Children's Museum, Science Museum, Doll Museum, Burton Barr Library (beautiful, enormous glass building designed by famous architect, Will Bruder), Heritage Park with its early Phoenix Victorian buildings and history (and of course restaurants: Pizzeria Bianco is amazing, also he has a fine dining restaurant at 20th St. and Camelback (East-side) : Tratto –one of the best chefs/food in town! Or go to Tempe/Scottsdale area for the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Botanical Gardens, Papago Buttes (make sure to wear good hiking shoes as the footing is gravely and slippery—just ask the Phoenix Fire Department search and rescue personnel). For nearby hiking in the desert go to West Wing Mountain, just 5 minutes away—see the webpage: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/arizona/west-wing-mountain-loop. If you like the water, you will love Lake Pleasant (20 m. from the house and yes, on the West-side). Here’s the website so you can see all that you can do there: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/park-locator/desert-outdoor-center-at-lake-pleasant/ If you still want to venture farther, take the Loop 101 to I-17 and head north (the only road North!) and go to Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon. Each of these spots can be done as a day-trip (but 2 days is better). Check out Williams just west of Flagstaff where you can drive through 'Bearizona' with all its natural terrain and see wolves, buffalo and bears grazing, lumbering and cubs playing. My family loves this place!!! Please let me know if you find other places you liked while staying at my house, and I’ll add them to the list. Pleasant days! Karen
