Overview

About the property

Waterfront/beachfront property with a fireplace. 3 bedroom, 1 bath

Summer 2017 weekly booking schedule is from a SUNDAY to SUNDAY only between June 25, 2017, and September 17, 2017. At all other times it is a 2 night minimum.

An original log cabin inside, this property is on the bay in Grand Marais, Michigan. The Bay Cabin is a small 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin with a study. It has a beach in the backyard, as it is fronting onto the bay in Grand Marais. A few yards short of the beach is the firepit where you can relax and watch fireworks on July 4 or just enjoy the tranquility of the water. The Bay Cabin also has a large deck for relaxing or dining while taking advantage of the great views. Behind the property a few hundred feet is the Lake Superior shore front.

Inside the Bay Cabin you will find a fully equipped kitchen, soft and comfortable bed and bath linen and cable TV. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a 3 inch memory foam topper and a view of the bay. The second bedroom has a full size bed. The third bedroom has bunk beds and the study has a twin bed. You will also find a lovely granite gas fireplace to warm your toes in the living room when there is a chill in the air.

The Bay Cabin was originally built in 1936 as a traditional full log cabin. Sometime later it was sided on the outside for additional insulation, but the inside remains true whole logs. The floors are lovely local hardwood with soft rugs placed in strategic spots. A soft leather couch and rocking chairs with ottomans completes the log cabin decor.

Outside there is a large deck with reclining chairs and ottomans, and a dining table. Under the side porch we have placed a wood picnic bench for outside dining on a hot sunny summer day or for when it is raining. For relaxing, with a warm beverage or a cocktail, use the deck chairs or the Bay Cabin's Adirondack chairs down at the firepit and beach. There is also a charcoal grill available for your use.

The Bay Cabin's private beach area IS 122 feet at the water's edge and 118 feet at the bank starting from the pine trees on the east side of the property. This beach is perfect for swimming, paddling, boating from, or even for pulling your sea plane into. It is also a wonderful place to sit at the edge of the water and enjoy an evening cocktail or a morning coffee. If you would like a long beach walk, just head to the open beach on the north side of the Bay Cabin by the beach accesses at either end of the road.

The Bay Cabin is about 600 feet from the center of town, playground, markets, stores, galleries, restaurants and bars. Go the other way 500 feet and you'll be at the lighthouse. Less than two miles away by road is Sable Falls and Sable Dunes, a shorter distance away if you walk the beach. Sable Lake, the Log Slide and Pictured Rocks are a little further on by road.

Come stay at the Bay Cabin and enjoy the experience of having your own waterfront cabin for a while.

Open between late spring (May 15, 2015) to last week of October. Summer bookings: from last week of June to second week of September bookings are weekly only from Sunday to Sunday. At other times bookings may start on any day for a 2 night minimum.

Beautiful view, great location

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was a great base for the Pictured Rocks shoreline. It was very nice and quiet, with a great location and view. The cabin was well stocked and a nice little place to spend family time together. The only recommendations we have are to provide more wash clothes in the bathroom (one per day per person), living room was uncomfortable for sitting and relaxing, and provide the address once a reservation is made (would make it much easier to find).

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and feedback. We will be happy to consider your recommendations. Just a heads up on the address recommendation that the address is provided to guests in their confirmation email, as it was for you in paragraph 4 of your confirmation email. I recommend guests always look back at the email that confirms the booking for details on the cabin and the caretaker's contact number in case you need assistance.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin is just what we were looking for to celebrate our 20th Anniversary. The view of the bay is beautiful and the fire pit on the beach worked out great! We definitely plan on returning, it's a great place to get away from it all!

Embrace Simplicity At It's Best, Awakening To A View Of Peace To Set Your Day!

  • 5 of 5

Step back in time to a simpler pace that only this little fishing town in Grand Marais can offer. As I sat at the edge of the Bay on my last day there, I thought how I could best bring back the peace this little place had brought to me on our stay?

The cabin is cozy and has everything you need for making your meals. There wasn't a day that went by where I didn't walk to town-just because I could!

The beds were comfy with plenty pillows and blankets. The fridge is nice and cold. The shower, nice and hot.

The Hosts were more than helpful, wanting us to enjoy our stay. They were very easily reached by phone and helped us with our simple request. Nice to know that customer service is alive and well!

The cabin is small square foot wise, so to have 7 people stay and have to be inside during bad weather, it would be tight. Not impossible, but tight.

With town so close by, you have options during less than positive weather.

If you want to experience Grand Marais, this little gem of a cabin will help you enjoy your stay!

Cozy Little Cabin! Perfectly Located!

  • 4 of 5

Cabin is nice and cozy, and is very conveniently located. While its some mile away from Munising, the drive from the Cabin to the Munising through the park is beautiful.

Overall Size: small (6 guys was on the dot)

Kitchen: small but well equipped

Backyard: Awesome. Good size, deck, even more space with a dedicated area on the sand for bonfires, and finally beach access right from the backyard.

At back of the Bay Cabin

Situated in the charming town of Grand Marais, Michigan, this beachfront/bayfront property (The Bay Cabin) is approximately 500 feet from town and about 500 feet from the lighthouse on the point. 200 feet behind the property is the Lake Superior shore, a favorite for rock collectors. Sable Dunes and Sable Falls is approximately a mile by road or less if you walk the beach. Sable Lake is around 2 miles away from The Bay Cabin. The local bars and restaurants are about 500 feet away and the same for the local markets and playground. The Grand Marais bay is a good spot to pull your sailing boat into, and in fact, you can park it in the water infront of The Bay Cabin. The area is also a favorite for snowmobilers, hunters and general summer goers. Local fireworks are set off over the bay for July 4th and New Years Eve.
