The Main Stay on the Bluff is a spacious 3,000 sq ft home with four bedrooms and two bathrooms, thoughtfully designed to accommodate a wide range of guests.

The main floor is fully handicap accessible and opens to an outdoor patio with seating and a fire pit. As part of Samakya Cabins, one of two private retreats set on 65 secluded acres, the property offers incredible bluff views, peaceful surroundings, and a truly special escape immersed in nature.

This private getaway near Lake Pepin invites you to rest, explore, and reconnect with nature. Guests can enjoy trails winding along the slough and through the forest, all while being just three miles from downtown Pepin and a short drive to Maiden Rock, Stockholm, Wabasha, Lake City, and Red Wing, Minnesota. Year-round, the Main Stay offers a serene escape along the Great River Road, perfect for families and friends looking to slow down and recharge in one of nature’s preserves.

Samakya Cabins is more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience rooted in peace, connection, and the beauty of the land. Both the Main Stay and The Potter’s Place are thoughtfully situated on 65 private acres, offering an incredible sense of space, privacy, and seclusion while still providing easy access to nearby towns and outdoor adventures. The Main Stay, perched on the bluff, features breathtaking views that shift beautifully with the seasons and create a memorable backdrop for every stay.

One of the most special features of Samakya Cabins is the ability to rent both properties together. When combined, the two cabins create an ideal setting for extended families, multiple families traveling together, small group retreats, or friends gathering to celebrate meaningful moments. While Anna booked our cabin for her future son-in-law, we experienced some challenges with uncommunicated gatherings during the stay. At one point, there were over 10 cars and 18 people at the property for a wedding rehearsal, followed by another event with additional non-registered guests. We did reach out to Anna, and she worked to address the situation with her guests. However, the lack of prior communication and disregard for house rules made this a difficult experience. We encourage future guests to respect the property guidelines and communicate any planned events in advance.

Our names are Chris and Anna. We met a long time ago over a bottle of champagne (actually over two bottles of champagne but who is counting). Chris was the waiter and Anna was the customer at a St Croix Valley, MN restaurant on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

We have come together from different backgrounds, mentalities, and cultures but there are many things that we enjoy together – traveling, hosting, making something our own, design and living and sharing spaces and time with our friends and family.

We consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to be the owners of Samakya Cabins. As only the second owners of this land since 1904, we felt its magic the moment we first stepped onto the property. The land carries a history that reaches far beyond our own lifetime, and we are deeply grateful to be its stewards. It is an honor to care for this special place and to have the opportunity to share its beauty, peace, and story with others.
