About the property

City of Duluth interim use permit # PL13-031.

This is the perfect place for a getaway! There are miles of sandy beach along the shore of Lake Superior right out the back door. You are close (4 blocks) to the aerial lift bridge, Canal Park, and downtown Duluth. The house was newly remodeled in the spring of 2012 to include fireplace and sauna. Main level and upstairs have amazing views of Lake Superior (you can see the lake while relaxing in the claw-foot tub). Downstairs includes washer/dryer, Foosball, and air-hockey table.

About Heather Pitschka

Steve and I (Heather) have lived in Duluth for the past 17 and 12 years respectively. We call it home now and have a tough time seeing ourselves living elsewhere. Lake Superior has a draw and we've been mesmerized since moving here. We both love the water and spend a significant amount of our free time surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Both of us have caught a muskie out of our canoe a stone's throw away from our house on Minnesota Point. We've also been able to surf every month of the year! Although I'd recommend a wet suit Fall/Winter/Spring. We love this area and always look forward to coming home when we've gone on vacation.

What makes this house unique

You'll have direct access to the largest freshwater lake in the WORLD (Lake Baikal in Russia is largest by volume, Lake Superior is largest by surface area)!

You are 5 blocks away for the farthest inland port in the world.

You are 5 blocks away from one of the largest lift bridges in the United States. There you can view Ocean and Great Lake ships from less than 100 feet as they enter and leave the port.

Minnesota Point is surrounded by water and the Aerial Lift Bridge is the only point of access by land. You are essentially on a island!

Great Property. Even Better Property Manager.

The house was great, just as advertised right on the water. The amenities of the house were perfect for our needs. Heather herself was excellent, even coming to assist when we were having WIFI issues at the house. My only critique would be that the upstairs bathroom door was very creaky and interrupted our sleep when it was used. But that is only a small issue on an otherwise flawless stay at Heather's home.

Nice alternative to a hotel in downtown Duluth - great location and a tidy, updated cottage.

  • 4 of 5

This small home is a lovely place for 2-4 people to get away from the congestion of Canal Park and have a long sand beach to walk, but be close to activities in the downtown (as long as the lift bridge doesn't hold you hostage!) Nice updated kitchen with a great view out to the lake, with everything you need handy. Two queen beds upstairs are fine, although the rooms are a bit small with limited space for two to walk around at the same time. The claw foot tub upstairs is great for a soak, and there is a modern shower downstairs. Can't comment on the sauna, as we couldn't seem to figure out how to make it work, but sitting with the fireplace watching movies was a nice quiet end to the day. Heather was very accommodating and provided clear instructions and checked in promptly. If you would like more space than you get in a hotel, and are looking for a spot on this gorgeous lake, check out this home.

Heather's beach house is lovely! Updated, clean and in a perfect location. My three day stay could have turned into a lifetime if given the opportunity. Heather is a wonderful VRBO owner, grin! Thank you!

Heather's Beach House in October

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautifully remodeled; very open living spaces, large bedrooms and baths and very well kept. We hope to return again. We were able to walk on the beach, walk over the Aerial bridge to the Lake Walk, shop and dine. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. So much fun to watch the waves come in and the ships approach and leave the harbor. We enjoyed listening to the bridge and the ship/boats talk to each other, a sound we grew up with - triggering fond memories.

Wonderful, clean, everything you need for a fabulous getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay. The house had everything we needed for our fall weekend getaway. The house is close to the canal area where there is so much to do, yet a nice relaxing place to return to in the evenings. Being right on the shores of Lake Superior, it was so great to walk out on the beach with a cup of tea and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of the lake. This is the perfect place where you are close to all that's happening in the canal area, yet gives a peaceful and relaxing place to hang out. Thank you, Heather and Steve.

PERFECT!!!

  • 5 of 5

From making the arrangements to returning to the airport, everything about renting from Heather was perfect. She responded quickly to all my initial emails, she made sure I had all the information I needed on arrival (including leaving a nice personalized welcome note). The cottage is fabulous - looked recently completely upgraded/remodeled - clean, cozy & comfortable and the location was fabulous - on the beach and minutes away from charming area. Would rent again!
