My choice was made on location first (Palermo), cleanliness, wanted a queen bed (real mattress), a pool to relax a few afternoons during our stay, air conditioning (a must in February in B Aires), and wifi. Well it turns out that the location was wonderful. Palermo is the spot for great restaurants and great night time walks, very safe, never once felt insecure about my surroUndings. Checkout Plaza Armenia and Plaza Serrano. When you first arrive, you have to buzz the apartment, so that the person waiting for you can buzz you in. Although there is a guard, if you don t have a key, he won t let you in. So we were buzzed in. The young man waiting for us was polite, but not quite helpful. Couldn t help us with the closet safe...never were able to use it. He had two sets of keys to the building and studio, however, on one of the sets, the building smart key wasn't t working, so we were only given the one set. Asked a few questions about the studio, but he never knew the answer. We gave him a $100 cash deposit that was returned to us on our last day. Studio was quiet because we were at the back of the building, may be noisier on the street side. Cleanliness takes a hit. At first look it was just ok, but when inside after an hour or two, realized that it was nasty in some areas. Beware...killed a few silver fish bugs which are a bitch to get rid of if you take them home with you. Will be leaving all our luggage out in the freezing cold for 24 hours when I get home to kill any possibility of unwanted bugs in my home. Never swam in the pool after all because the water was always murky, and pool not all that clean. So without the pool, being on the rooftop, it was too hot. Air conditioning was really good. They offered nice plush bath towels and hand towels, but no washcloths. Am glad I had some with us. Bed was comfortable...was actually two small single beds put together to make a queen. Bedding was o.k. Just a half of a toilet paper roll when we arrived, so went to buy some. Wifi was just fine except for the last 3 days...didn't t have any...So 25% of our stay we were without. Water is good to drink. No chlorine smell. Shower head only has about 40% efficiency...a lot of the holes are blocked. Needs a good soaking in CLR! So in conclusion, Palermo...definitely the best neighborhood to stay in B Aires. Pay $20 or $30 more a night and get a newer building. Yes, we aren t there that often, but when you are there, it could be in a cleaner, more maintained...
