We stayed here as a family of four generations for our grandsons wedding. There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The Wii system was used as well as the large screen TV.We would definitely stay here again
This property was exactly what my team needed for our Annual Company Retreat this year! We had plenty of space for the 12 of us to sleep comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked with dishware and the layout of the cabin gave everyone a variety of spaces to spend time in. Our personal favorites were the hot tub, and the main living room that was stocked with games, a tv, and plenty of seating. The chery on top was getting to see the Aurora Borealis while we were there! Such a unique experience that we never would have had if we booked a different location. Photos included are UNEDITED long exposure shots of the cabin and nearby areas. We highly recommend this space to anyone looking for a lakeside getaway!
Cozy cabin with close proximity to the lake. Heard some feet at night which might be squirrels in the rafters.Other than that, nice property and good stay.

Thank you for your review. We have had a problem for years with flying squirrels entering the attic area, but they do not seem to do any damage and do not come into the living area, so we leave them alone. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for taking care of our house and we hope you will come again.

The house was great, a nice cozy cabin vibe but with lots of space, a hot tub and firepit. Only a few minutes from the bridge to the road up the lake and from the state park, which the owners include a pass for. Property owners were great to rent with, recommended!

Thank you for taking good care of our house and observing all instructions. Glad you liked it and hope you will come again. You will be welcomed as a super guest.
Six bedrooms and three bathrooms worked well for our large family. Rained all weekend, so we enjoyed the hot tub. Loved the screened-in porch, which enabled the dogs and children to play outside without fear of escaping. One improvement would be to have more towels for the hot tub and for the kitchen.
Thank you for taking good care of our house. Sorry for the disruptions about the water heater. We are going to have to replace it because of a leak. Glad you like the house. Please come again.

The house was ok. Pictures made it seem bigger. Kitchen was small, not very up to date. Mildew smell throughout most of the house. Hot tub only had a few jets that worked. I think when we left it was cleaner than when we arrived. Cobwebs on ceilings and walls.

Overall we loved the property. Very comfortable & quiet. Great area. Only slight problem was an ice storm hit the area. The driveway & steps were covered in ice. A bag of salt cured that. I broomed off when we left..

Thank you for your review. Sorry about the ice storm. This has been a bad winter with a lot of ice - many trees down. Please try us again in warmer weather. Thanks for clearing off what you could.

The house was very convenient & comfortable, and we enjoyed it as a base for our get-together. I only have some minor quibbles. For example, there was some conflicting information about firewood and towels in the info provided (both were provided at the house). Also, the area around the hot tub was a bit dirty but we just we just grabbed a broom and cleaned it up. Other than those very minor things, we very much enjoyed our stay.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry the the porch was a bit dirty, but during pollen season, it is hard to keep ahead of it. We also include linens, including towels, as part of your booking. We try to have firewood available for each guest.
Thanks for leaving the house very neat and clean. Please come again.

We had a blast for our family get together and fell in love with the lake. It’s definitely a steep hike to the dock but it’s so nice to have your own dedicated dock. We rented a boat
And loved it. Very easy to work with the owner. Always very responsive.
We all loved the house! It was perfect for 11 of us ladies. The table in the dining room was nice for us all to sit around for breakfast and playing games in the evening. Location of the house was close to restaurants and shopping ! We even had 4 deer come into the back yard which was sweet to see ! Would definitely rent this house again !

Nice, comfortable, clean house!
The water pressure was extremely low when we first arrived but after a quick call to the management company, a service man came by and the problem was solved. Starter paper products and soaps were provided by the owner - very thoughtful! Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Had a small gathering of my sons groomsmen before his wedding in November. Nice house, exactly what we wanted. Hot tub worked great. Fire pit was a hit to sit by and relax. House was clean and everything worked. Owners are awesome to communicate with and answer quickly. Definitely would recommend

We had a great family vacation at John and Joyce's home. There is plenty of space in the home for everyone and plenty of games/movies in the house. It's a quiet and wooded location with easy access to the lake and regional activities. John and Joyce provided plenty of instructions to make the check-in and check-out as smooth as possible. We came at a time when we didn't need the window A/C units and the weather was perfect for a fall getaway. Would absolutely return!
The property worked very well for our extended family vacation. Plenty of bedrooms provided privacy when needed. The 3 bathrooms were appreciated with 10 people! The back deck was wonderful for coffee in the mornings and drinks in the evening. Not to mention a great place to read during the afternoon! The large dining room afforded us wonderful family time for dinners together. The hot tub got a lot of use, and was a big hit. The dock was great for swimming, and kayaking, and really appreciated when we rented a boat for the day!
Note, bring your own kitchen towels! We were left one, which obviously wasn’t enough. Other than that small thing, the hosts were on point with any questions we had, both before and during our stay.
All in all, a great place to stay. We will definitely be back.

Family vacation
Enough room for our large family. Furniture is old. Only children could sit on large couch because you sink almost to the floor. A frying pan of used oil was in the oven. Gas grill's bottom missing and only two burners worked. Two jets didn't work in hot tub. Air conditioning is window units and not every room had an air conditioner. It was very hot. Overall, needs updated.

I agree that you should not find a pan of used oil in oven nor a gas grill that did not work properly, but you should have made us aware of the situation so we could address it. I am looking for a replacement of the the living room sofa. We did replace the sofas in the downstairs rec room, so hope to have a new living room sofa soon. Sorry it was so hot; usually the air conditioners do a good job of keeping it comfortable, if you follow the instructions.

About the host
Hosted by John and Kathy Joyce
We are now retired and live in Annapolis, MD, but visit Deep Creek about every 3 weeks to take care of the property.
Why they chose this property
We purchased the lot and had the house built as a retirement investment, because we liked the Deep Creek Lake area so much.
What makes this property unique
There is so much to do here if you enjoy outdoor activities. Swimming, boating, fishing, skiing (downhill and cross country) tubing, horseback riding, hiking, etc. The house is on a wooded lot of over an acre.
