Cottage/Tiny House Living Accommodation in Beaufort for Cost-conscious Traveler

Bedrooms Studio
Space 220 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

The Pigeon Nest Cottage is ideal for the cost-conscious traveler or couple who appreciates a cozy, homey venue for a getaway, and only a 10 minute walk to restaurants and shops. The little 235 ft.² addition fits perfectly in the new craze for "tiny house" living. It is connected to owners home by a 20x18 ft screened veranda. Situated in the Pigeon Point area of Beaufort close to the historic downtown, Chateau Petite Cottage aka Pigeon Nest Cottage is a small place with a lot of heart. The cottage is nestled among ancient Live Oak trees draped with Spanish moss, across the road from the Beaufort River. It offers our guests: a kitchenette (microwave oven, sink, refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster, 2 burner portable stove, and dishes, pots n' pans); coffee and breakfast bars for your first morning here, a bathroom with a shower and bath towels (including beach towels, beach chairs, and boogie boards. Bedroom/day room with a very comfortable daybed, that can either be used as 2 twins or a king size ; an HD flat-screen TV with cable channels; WIFI access; a bistro table with 2 chairs; in addition, you'll have access to a front-loading washer and dryer. Outside, the cottage offers a large yard surrounded by a white picket fence (so your small pet can roam), as well as a private screened deck for guests and a separate seating area with a gas grill, fire pit and table and chairs for relaxing and enjoying the flowers . A whimsical flower garden is in a continual process of "being complete."

In February of 2015 Diane's younger sister Bonnie passed away, and it spurred the idea of a memory garden for her.... a meandering path, graced with ferns, daisies, hydrangeas, misc pretty flowers, as well as a precious pink flowered bush called "little Bonnie" have all been planted with love. You will also find teapots, bunnies and assorted little treasures to make you smile. Please spend time enjoying........ my flowers want to see you...

You are welcome to relax on my veranda, especially in inclement weather, tho fair warning - being an intrepid decorator, there is usually a "construction zone" of works in progress . You also will get to have the delightful experience of my 2 feline roomies Miss Maggie Grace, and Good Golly Miss Molly, the long haired calico. They love to be petted.

About Diane McIntosh

I moved to Beaufort from the Pennsylvania Amish country to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the coast and the sunshine. Living in Beaufort has renewed my spirit and introduced me to many new friends, while allowing me to share the beauty of my new adopted home town with my friends from Pennsylvania. I have always enjoyed entertaining and decorating, so my cozy cottage in Beaufort allows me to indulge my favorite pastimes.

Diane McIntosh purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Diane McIntosh chose Pigeon Point

My husband and I vacationed in Beaufort a few years ago and fell in love with the historic charm of the town, its friendly, welcoming people, the wonderful waterfront restaurants and the natural beauty of Beaufort by the sea. This is a magical place to begin a new life!

Unfortunately, My husband passed away in January 2011, so I made the "big move" alone. I know he would be proud of what I have been able to accomplish.

What makes this cottage unique

I love to sit on my cottage's porches and enjoy the river breezes, the shade of the huge old Live Oak trees draped in Spanish moss, and the peace and tranquility of my river neighborhood. The Pigeon Point dock and deck are less than a ten minute walk, you can catch a sunrise if you are an early bird, and if not, just turn around for a beautiful sunset to the west. No matter when you are there, be sure to keep an eye out for the playful dolphins.

Wonderful tiny house in a magical garden!

  • 5 of 5

Diane's cottage was the perfect spot for my dog and I to get away for a few days and forget about the hustle of life. The garden was beautiful and watching the birds, squirrels, and even a few lizards was fun! With a very short walk to pigeon point we got to watch the sunsets every night over the sound. With a little longer walk to downtown, shops(including the chocolate shop) and restaurants are within 30 minutes of the house. One better, take a bike and go visit port royal or cat island! The space was cozy but great for cooking myself breakfast each morning. The shower was very tall(great for tall guests) and the water stayed hot for a long time! The bed was very comfortable and the chance to watch a little tv at night was nice as I don't pay for cable at home anymore. Who does?!? This was an amazing place to stay and I look forward to coming again in the future!

My husband and I came to Beaufort for a short getaway and just relax. We have never been here. This place was perfect. So very cute. It is small but we found it to be a fun challenge to utilize the room it provided. Even though it is small it has basically everything. Even has a washer & dryer. We were surprised. Fantastic location to everything as well. We rode our bikes to shopping and eateries. The trip from the cottage is just breathtaking. We ventured through all of the canopied streets on our bikes and took in all of the incredible historic houses. We plan to return to Beaufort with our sons on Christmas break.

Adorble Cottage

My husband and I stayed here for two lovely nights, it is small, cozy and very quaint. We brought our two dogs and the yard was nice for them to run around in and the garden is beautiful. Central to Beaufort, Savannah, and Charleston.

Convenient cozy comfort!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was just right for our budget and convenient to downtown Beaufort. This area in Pigeon Point is so quiet and walkable...close to the boat ramp and parks. Our second visit and certainly not our last. Thank you, Diane, for making this charming getaway so comfortable and affordable.

Great little place!!

  • 5 of 5

Property was exactly as described! Bed was comfortable and while we didn’t make use of much of the kitchen area, it was a nice set-up for a smaller place. Cozy, clean, and much better than a hotel room!! 👍🏼

Poor the place in picture is not what you get, you only get small room to left in picture.

  • 1 of 5

The cottage was only a room and not cozy and romantic like it stated. We had to make our own bed which was uncomfortable and lumpy. Outside light left on all night shing through the blind. Owner did not disclose she had cats, and I am allergic to them so now I am feeling effects. The room was smaller than a hotel and AC did not work efficiently. I would not recommend or stay there ever again.

Established in 1711, historic downtown Beaufort boasts a scenic waterfront park with an array of alfresco dining options--locally caught fresh seafood, steaks, Lowcountry barbeque, burgers and gourmet flatbread pizza. Relax on the riverfront green space with its swinging benches for a great view of the river and the marina. Sit a spell and watch the bridge swing open for the tall masts of sail boats gliding past on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, see porpoises play on the tides of the river, and witness breathtaking coastal sunsets over the water.

To learn about Beaufort's 300-year heritage, take a boat tour along the river, travel through the city's historic streets in a quaint horse-drawn carriage or walk the streets with a guide dressed in period garb. Linger in the quaint downtown shops loaded with antiques, clothing, gifts, furnishings and more. Peruse the many art galleries featuring the works of local Lowcountry artisans.

Beaufort is the ideal base for all of your Lowcountry and Coastal Empire excursions. The Sea Islands and Atlantic Ocean are just a few miles from downtown, so be sure to visit Hunting Island with its historic lighthouse and sunny ocean beaches. And Beaufort is ideally located for day-trips to Charleston, Savannah and Hilton Head Island--only an hour or so from each destination.

In Beaufort, you can sit and enjoy the sun and water while you sip your favorite beverage, or you can fill your days with boating, kayaking, beachcombing, fishing, sightseeing and history--it's your choice. Welcome to Beaufort, South Carolina's coastal paradise!
