Being a former resident of Upcountry visiting and now residing in South Kona on Hawaii Island, the house was amazing and it being walking distance (by the way a beautiful walk) to convenience store, amazing restaurant, and social places. The price was perfect and felt the owners undersold their amenities and house - it was more than what we read and exceeded our expectations. The rules were not overly ridiculous and supported the the idea for visitors to be part of the responsibility for a "home away from home". The decor was amazing and the house was cool during the hottest summer temperatures. Even though there were residents on the same property, I felt like we had our own privacy and didnʻt even see them, just as the compendium mentioned. We had a great and terrific time and if we were great guests, would love to rebook and make recommendations for others.

I appreciated the directions and easy come-and-go access. There was a wonderful coffee shop and mini mart. There were extras… stocked with basics so I didn’t need to shop at safeway (sandwich wrap, foil, salt, pepper, herbs, olive oil, paper towels, garbage bags). Also plenty of towels and beach equipment. I also valued the privacy of being left alone, but having a quick response to questions from our hosts! Everything was in working order and clean. Thrilled with the location and experience… I will recommend this place to friends and family. Thank you Amy and Joel!!

Nice stay for family

Stayed here with a family of 4. Enjoyed the quiet and proximity to north shore, Paia, Haleakala, and Hookipa. Great communication from owner. House was clean and had everything we needed.

Clean property, great location!

We had a wonderful stay at the Surf House. The house was clean, organized and obviously well-maintained. We loved the location and appreciated the ease of communication with the property manager. Would love to come back and stay longer!

Tucked away, clean, comfortable spot!

Amy’s place is just as described. Very clean and comfortable. We loved walking out the back gate to the coffee shop every morning. Loved the location close to Paia and Makawao. We’d stay here again!

The perfect stay

This is how you Vrbo. From the welcome gift basket, to the robust home guide, to excellent amenities, and the great neighborhood location, this house does it right. It was a great location for us to visit all parts of the beautiful island of Maui and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Hana and Haleakala on their stay. We loved it!

Cute Surf cottage

Great place to stay for exploring north Maui. Very comfortable and cute 3 bedrooms. Clear communication from the owner. Loved having the market and cafe out the back gate. Great sushi restaurant in nearby Haiku and close to Paia with wonderful restaurants, beaches and boutiques.

Really nice home. Very clean. Greatly enjoyed the short cut to the coffee shop/bakery. It felt like we were locals! No complaints. It was a fun vacation.

Really great spot

This is honestly one of my favorite short-term rentals to date. The house is ridiculously charming, in a great neighborhood, fully equipped, love the little notes giving direction to where things are. It was clean, walking distance to coffee/baked goods/little grocery and even has an outdoor shower. We found the inside temperature perfect, and the hosts are lovely. I would absolutely book this again. Thanks for having us!

10/10 great experience in every way.

Perfect, very Maui, these hosts thought of every possible need, well stocked cupboards, beach toys, towels, artfully decorated. We just loved it. Did I mention that it is clean as a whistle? Beautiful property, great location. A must when in Maui, upcountry is where its at and this was a great spot to see all it has to offer.

Amazing Home off the Beaten Path

We loved our more private vacation home stay on Maui because we were not at a resort and closer to the mountain in Haiku. The short walk to Baked on Maui was perfect and their food was good. Since we like the outdoors and not being part of the pack, the location was perfect. The house was the right size and very comfortably decorated for our family of four. Amy was always on top of the communication and the story of their vacation home is a great story. We would love to stay again.

Terrific home-base in Haiku

This home had ample parking (important for our 2 small work trucks), thoughtfully designed interior spaces with all that we needed to cook and prepare meals, and sleep comfortably with 3 people each in a separate room. Our host was easy to communicate with and left detailed information about the home and nearby amenities. The nearby bakery/breakfast place was also a stand-out and only a 3 minute walk from the cottage. We'll definitely plan to book here again in the near future! Thanks again to our hosts - this home is amazing!
