We already can’t wait to come back. Stunning views of Lake Superior and the night skies. Gorgeous area to explore. Cool old fish camp with a lot of interesting history that we loved learning about! Sherry was a wonderful host :)

Great hosts and property

Really cool property on the shores of Keewanaw Bay. The cabins were well stocked and clean, plenty of firewood, and you can walk into the lake. Bob was super nice. We had a big group and they were able to work with us on renting multiple cabins.

We came to town for a family reunion in Gay, MI, and are so glad we booked this lovely cabin! It was so very peaceful, quiet, and comfortable there with an amazing lake front view. It was much larger than what we expected. We especially appreciated the very well stocked kitchen that had olive oil, spices, and condiments, coffee, and plenty of cookware, bowls, and knives that made it easy for me to cook for our reunion. Also, lots of guide books and such which is nice, and a ton of channels on the TV which was easy to operate. Appreciated the spacious bathroom with lots of towels, counter space, and a blow dryer. It also had a window AC unit if you need it, but were comfortable just opening the bedrooms windows at night since we spent most of the day out and about. Definitely would stay here again! Thank you, Sheri and Bob!!

Keeeenaq Experience

The property was interesting. Small nicely laid out campground. Cottage was large, clean, and comfortable. The Dockside Resort was close to many waterfall, small towns to explore, and beaches of Lake Superior. Everyone enjoyed the stay. Thank you Sherri and Bob for letting us enjoy your cottage

Wonderful location

My wife and I took a spur of the moment trip to the U.P to see the fall colors. This place did not disappoint. Between the changing of the leaves to the sounds of lake superior on our door steps to waking up to the most gorgeous sunrises imaginable. This place provided everything. Bob and Sherry are the sweetest people. We will definitely stay here again.

Nice U.P. Rental!

Nice rental in the small town of Gay, MI. Well-stocked kitchen ready with extra meal items in case we forgot to bring something. Plenty of room for two couples and a few extras that joined us for dinner. Bob and Sherri were wonderful hosts and answered all our inquiries quickly. Nice little campsite just adjacent to rental units. Would rent again from this host.

Okay

The cabin is nice, but farther from the water than you expect, not very private as well, tent campers around you. In our opinion if you are looking for private quiet area near the water this is not for you. But if you are looking for busy area but clean cabin within walking distance to the water this is for you. Please also remember to take food, stuff to grill out or for breakfast alot places not open, or weird hours so be prepared and also far a way.

Our resort is spread out over 1200 feet of Lake Superior shoreline. There is a small campground on the west side, a marina in the middle, and the vacation houses are on the east side of the property, with a view straight out to the water.. Every 4th of July we have a picnic food served, swimming, and water fun by the tiki hut, next to the docks. A live band plays music around 8. A bon fire is lit at dusk. Then fireworks are set off at the end of the docks at 11. For any party booking with us over the 4th, I notify you right away that there will be these traditional events on-site. Plus, you are invited to join the local folks in the celebration in the dock area. Or hang out on the deck of the guest house, which overlooks the shoreline and marina, and view the 20 minute light show from there. The serenity of our remote location returns after the holiday is over. A map of the Keweenaw peninsula is provided in our promo materials to help visitors get their bearings and make the most of our location.

Visiting the UP with Framily

Three adults and two kids did a 12 day road trip to and through the UP. We stayed in house#1 on Sherry, Fred, and Bob’s property. They are in the process of renovating their six houses. We had a three bedroom one bath, stocked kitchen, spacious living area, a fire rind, picnic table on the porch, lake view, bicycle, fishing rods, access to kayaks AND a lake view. We cannot wait to come stay here again! Thank you for the hospitality!

Came back for a second visit!!

We enjoyed this property so much the first time we decided to come back for a second trip!! The owners are incredible. Because there was so much snow, the front door wouldn’t close properly and the owner came within ten minutes to fix it!! They responded in a timely manner, left snacks for us and everything was super clean!! They even let our doggie come stay and he loves it there too! Hopefully we can do it again next year as well :)

Clean and Out of the Way

We knew this about Gay ahead of time, but for anyone unfamiliar it may be a surprise just how far you have to drive for groceries, shopping, essentials, etc. However, there was a lot of food, snacks, essentials in the place from previous vacationers that could probably keep you fed, and the owners keep it well stocked with necessities too. I feel the word “resort” is used loosely in the title of the property and anyone expecting “resort”-like accommodations and amenities will be severely let down. It’s more of a cottage (literally a relocated dilapidated army house they moved here and fixed up many years ago), located just off a main road (although not too much traffic due to the rural location), quite a distance from the “beach” (just a small sandy area, barely enough room and a bit awkward to lay out on; and definitely no good swimming area). I mention the details to merely fully inform and give someone a better picture of what to expect, and not to knock the hard work the owners have done and are still doing to grow and improve the property. Again, to me it’s most important a place be clean and it was. Also, there is no cell phone signal and the WiFi calling was not reliable. When we needed to communicate with the outside world, texting (and that would take up to 10 minutes to go through or not all sometimes) or email were our only options. Great place for anyone not interested in actually relaxing/staying on the property, but rather for those heading out every day snowmobiling, hiking, touring, etc.
