The apartment has a Mediterranean charm and is lovely furnished with everything you need for a short or long term vacation. Included are books and picture books, music CDs, entertaining DVDs, cassettes fr children, boules balls, table tennis and badminton rackets, but also a lot of nice games for young and old. Unobtrusive images are on the walls. For all concerns, we are gladly available to help, whether it be insider tips for excursions, for a good restaurant or for the cultural life of Dresden - all of which we are very familiar with due to our profession. We would also be happy to reserve tickets for the Semper Opera for you. Nearby you can rent bikes - great for tours in the area. We offer you sleds and skis for free during the winter.

A wonderful Christmas at the villa!
What a fantastic holiday! Dresden is a magnificant city and especially so at Christmas with its old-world charm and Christmas market (dating back to the 15th c.), exceptional Semper Oper performances (we saw Hansel and Gretel), church concerts and charming Christmas candles or brightly lit stars adorning every window in the city. The surrounding villages are quaint and inviting, with friendly people everywhere who are genuinely happy to have visitors. And Pillnitz -- hometown for the villa -- is a short 20-minute drive from Dresden.
Our hosts, Peter and Harriet and their daughter Rebecca, were amazing... most gracious, welcoming and just altogether lovely people! They all went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Harriet got the opera tickets for us in advance (a must, as they sell out quickly), and Peter kindly escorted us to the local grocery to help us buy food for Christmas Eve. They even decorated a beautiful live Christmas tree for our livingroom in the villa. Then, on Christmas day, Rebecca offered to be our guide and drove with us to the Saxony Switzerland mountains -- which I highly recommend seeing.
The villa itself was perfect. The four of us stayed in Sunnyside 1 and I was amazed at how spacious yet cozy the rooms were. The photographs on the website hardly do it justice. The view was magnificent... overlooking the Elbe river and Dresden in the valley below. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for preparing light snacks or brewing coffee in the morning. And the bathroom had a real shower!
All in all, the Sunnyside villa exceeded our expectations, and I would recommend this lovely home-away-from-home to anyone. My husband and I plan to return and stay in the garden house on our next trip.
Fabulous property, fantastic location.
We spent a wonderful week here with our three children aged 6, 4 and 3. The accommodation is spacious and bright with a perfect mix of charm and comfort. The "mummy and daddy bedroom" is enormous with amazing views.
The property is on top of a hill, making you feel that you have escaped the hustle and bustle of the world. Great walks can be found on your doorstep and a park and retaurant a little further up the hill. A brilliant location in between Dresden and Saxon Switzerland (20 mins to both) and lots of other days out close by. This is a beautiful part of Germany to discover and explore.
Harriet and Peter have created a truly lovely place to stay here, with care and attention to detail, we will most definitely return.
Urlaub im Paradies
Die Bilder trügen nicht! Genauso schön wie auf den Fotos ist es in echt - und dazu noch wirklich sehr nette Vermieter...
Es war ein traumhafter Urlaub! Und die Familie Meining hat hier wirklich ein Paradies geschaffen!
Wir haben schon oft Urlaub in Ferienwohnungen gemacht und dabei viele sehr schöne Objekte kennenlernen können. Aber die Wohnung hier übertrifft alles um Längen. Sie ist unglaublich liebevoll und geschmackvoll in auch kleinen Details eingerichtet. In der Küche ist alles vorhanden, was nötig ist. Sogar die Messer schneiden! Die Kochtöpfe sind von WMF...Und der Garten ist einfach ein Traum!
Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen Vielen Dank der Familie Meining auch noch mal auf diesem Wege für zwei wundervolle Wochen!
Toller Kurzurlaub mit Familie
Tolles Haus mit viel Charme und einem märchenhaftem Garten mit vielen romantische Ecken. Ideal als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge nach Dresden und in die Sächsische Schweiz. In der großen Wohnung befindet sich unter anderem ein Zimmer, in dem ein riesiger Tisch steht, der sich ideal für einen ausgiebigen Familienbrunch eignet. Ein Plattenspieler mit großer Plattensammlung unterstützte die gemütliche Stimmung.
Der Vermieter half uns bei der Durchführung eines Grillabends und war bei Fragen gerne bereit uns zu helfen. Wir hatten uns alles genau so vorgestellt.

An absolutely, secluded location in a nature park reserve with romantic hiking trails by the front door. Here you follow the traces of Weber and Wagner, relax by streams and regenerate yourself in one of the scenic excursion inns. Nearby you will find the hunting paths of August the Strong and his palace Pillnitz with a fantastic palace garden. From 'Sunnyside' downstream by the Elb, you can reach the historical city center of Dresden with all of its cultural treasures like the Semper Opera, painting gallery from the green arches or the lively new district with a 25 minute drive. Upstream, only 12km away is the national park 'Saxon Switzerland', our Elbe Sandstone Mountains, the absolute paradise for those who like to hike and climb. Here you will also find open-air theaters, the cliff stage Rathen and ponds for boating. A clean, large lake for swimming is located 8 km away. The Stolpen castle is 12 km away, hunting castle Moritzburg 18 km, stable and renaissance castle Schönfeld 1 km.

Golf: A golf course is located in Ullersdorf - 10 km away.
Ski: You can go skiing directly from in front of the house! This possibility exists for cross country skiers. Descents can be reached in the Erz Mountains about a 45 minute drive away, here you will find multiple small ski areas with about 2-4 decents with different levels of difficulty. Skis and accessories can be rented. You can also go sledding at the two great decents by the mountain by our house (length: 400 and 800 m on the nearby mountain) towards the Elbe. Sleds and cross country skis are available for you!
