About Roma Kozlov

We are both avid skiers who lived out west for many years and missed the mountains when we moved to Toronto. We took a ski holiday to le Massif in the Charlevoix in 2007 and we fell in love with the area for more than the fabulous skiing. We decided then and there that we wanted to build a ski chalet in the area. In July of 2010, we took a sabbatical to build our dream log home on a gorgeous two acre property overlooking the town of Baie St. Paul. I am a school teacher who didn't even know how to hold a hammer before we started! We never cease to be amazed and delighted every time we return here. Much to our delight, every season is spectacular: the brilliant autumn colours, the magical winters, and the delightful summers with all the water activities offered.

Roma Kozlov purchased this chalet in 2010

Why Roma Kozlov chose Quebec

We chose this property because it's a new development with a lot of privacy and stunning views, yet it's only 5 minutes from the hustle and bustle of downtown Baie St. Paul. We are part of the city and receive all the services provided.

We took raw land and created a paradise. It was exciting to create our own driveway, see the well being dug, install our own lamp posts, electricity, plumbing, etc. We know every inch of this house and property intimately!

What makes this chalet unique

Exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detailed, well-equipped kitchen, totally private, quiet, yet close to town! Fabulous wrap-around porch.

Picturesque chalet with incredible views

  • 5 of 5

A picture-postcard of Baie St Paul and the St Lawrence Valley. The chalet is comfortable and cozy in the winter with a sauna and wood fireplace. The views are panoramic. You really feel you are in the heart of Quebec culture! We loved our experience.

A wonderful haven, astounding views and a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

This home was truly a beautiful place to be, set up in the hills but with magnificent views of the St Lawrence. Very well-equipped with spacious rooms....the wraparound deck provided many beautiful mornings and evenings.....it was the perfect places for our two families to meet and spend a wonderful wee in this lovely area. ...highly recommend Taddousac, the Charlevoix fromagerie was excellent, Quebec city. Roma provided a list of "pics," and these were really helpful (even though we hag been to the areas before this gave us a lot of new ideas : )

Amazing stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent an entire week at Horizon 77 and don’t regret one bit of it.

The cottage is nested on top of a small mountain facing the bay. We walked around a lot and drove along the coast but it is difficult to find a place with a better view than Horizon 77. Away from the village and the noise, you can take pleasure in the singing of the birds every morning, sipping a cup of coffee on the terrace.

From arrival, we enjoyed every moment, the cottage is well supplied and we didn’t feel that anything was missing. Roma was kind enough to provide us with some information about the area and the most interesting places to visit or tips about best places to eat. We did follow some of her advices but also took a leap of faith and explored some on our own.

Beside that we took the time to discover the area on land and water and had an enjoyable experience kayaking on the Gouffre river.

On the communication side, everything went smooth from the first contact until the departure from the cottage. I didn’t feel that we got swamped with too much information nor I felt that there were any questions that were not answered on time, everything felt timely and appropriately.

All in all, it was a lovely experience and we might consider coming back.

Surrounded by sea and mountains, Baie-Saint-Paul - the birthplace of Le Cirque du Soleil - has inspired a vast number of artists and artisans with the purity and natural beauty of its landscape. Countless are the art galleries, boutiques and activities for visitors to enjoy, including hiking, kayaking, snowmobiling and golf. Baie-Saint-Paul is a paradise of beauty, hospitality and scenic adventures!

Take a walk along its many narrow streets lined with charming boutiques and art galleries—it’s a great way to discover and fully enjoy one of Québec’s oldest municipalities. Nearby Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, a scenic six-kilometer drive down the mountain to the St. Lawrence River, is another favorite of visitors.

There are many day trips to choose from, including a free ferry ride to Isle-aux-Coudres, 'Island of Hazelnuts', discovered by Jacques Cartier in 1535. Home of the famous Pedneault Apple Cider Orchards, one can tour the small island by bicycle. For the adventursome, the area offers sea kayaking, river kayaking, canyoneering & whale watching excursions. If you love the mountains, the provincial parks, Grands-Jardins and Hautes Gorges offer various hikes at all levels and distances. Our favorite attraction, le Massif Ski Resort, boasts the highest peak in Canada east of the Rockies, and is hosted by Jean-Luc Brassard, the 1994 Olympic Gold Medalist in mogul aerials.

In the heart of this World Biosphere Reserve and natural larder filled to bursting, Charlevoix’s chefs and agricultural producers prepare a cuisine that is renowned far and wide. Some specialties are cheese, emu, and chocolate/raspberry/wild blueberry pie.
