About David Dilday
I grew up in the Northeast and would visit my grandmother in NC often. I have always loved vacationing in the NC mountains.
David Dilday purchased this Cabin in 2010
Why David Dilday chose Crab Creek
I bought this property because my girls and I loved the mountains of NC. There is so much to do and see and the people are great. This property has tons of peace and privacy but is within 20 minutes of down town Hendersonville and all the shopping, restaurants, and exploring you would ever want.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the cool mountain air, spring and fall colors, and having a place to get away from it all, yet be close enough to all the activities you could ever want. You get the best of both worlds. Relax in the hammocks on the veranda or kick back on the large porch. Hike down to the pond or stream and listen to the relaxing sounds of the water and birds.

Truly loved our stay at The Veranda
We had a wonderful weekend getaway. Cabin was fully stocked with everything you could think of and so clean! We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit, along with roasting marshmallows and making s’mores. Enjoyed a nice night relaxing in hammocks and just taking in the quietness and sounds of nature. Enjoyed being able to bring our fur baby with us as well. She had a wonderful time. This was her first trip away from home. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at The Veranda! We wanted a nice weekend away from everything and that’s what we got! We didn’t leave the cabin at all the entire weekend. We will most definitely be back!!
We are so glad you had such a wonderful time at the Veranda, and look forward to your next visit.
Beautiful and peaceful
Anyone renting a cabin in wooded mountains with the near by town being extremely small, might not have all that high of expectations. I wasn't quite sure what we would be walking in to, and to be honest, I was a little worried. All I have to say is, the pictures of this place does not do it justice. Not only was the cabin so well maintained, extremely clean and free of bugs, cozy yet spacious, but it was fully stocked with supplies, games, and dvds, along with maps and brochures of local things to do and see. The furniture was comfortable, and the satellite tv came in handy for the rainy evenings.
The property that the cabin sits on is absolutely stunning. There are beautiful moss covered trails through the woods, one leading to an amazing pond with a creek running along the back side. We had an incredible view of the surrounding mountains everywhere we looked. We ended up staying in the cabin or on the property for most of the week we spent there because we didn't see a reason to leave a place that was that great.
When we did leave, the small, quaint town of Flat Rock was a very short drive away and offered more to do than expected. And the larger town of Hendersonville wasn't much further and had a lot more stores and restaurants. There are also several state/national parks near by.
I plan on keeping this cabin in mind for our future vacations because I would love to go back.
We are so happy you had such a wonderful time at the Veranda, and look forward to your next stay with us.
Perfect ...clean and well located..
The perfect cabin to explore the mountains of North Carolina ...Everything so close by...I am already planning my next stay...
We are so pleased you had such a good time at the Veranda and look forward to your next stay.
Charming and secluded
We booked for three nights and unfortunately had to leave after one night for a family emergency. Description is accurate, and we were pleased with the cabin. Cute, cozy, nicely remodeled and has all the comforts of home. Wish we could have stayed all three days. Would recommend to anyone looking for a get away with much privacy, but close enough to major attractions and stores.
Cabin has nice fire pit outback to sit around and enjoy time together. Owners instructions were simple and easy to follow for accessing cabin and closing up.
Perfect place for a romantic get away, or to bring the family.
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Veranda, and look forward to your next stay with us.
Quite and lovely. Central to much great hiking. We would like to return.
We are so glad you had such a great time at The Veranda and look forward to your next visit.
sweet cabin and fantastic property in a great location
The cabin is clean and well equipped. The property is fantastic, we had a great time exploring and enjoying to lookout tower and fire pit. The location is great - closer to town with a lot to do, shopping, etc. than we were expecting. We had a great time in Hendersonville and Ashville. The one thing that really disappointed me was the towel situation. We were there for 4 nights and the washing machine had been winterized. There were 2 bath towels, 1 hand towel, zero washcloths. Since it's advertised as sleeping at least 4 as I recall, I was expecting more. If you go, expect to have a great time, but bring your own towels and washcloths.
We are very happy you had such a great time at the Veranda and look forward to your next stay with us.
We are sorry to hear about the towel situation. There should be 8 towels of each type there at all times. I will talk to the cleaning crew to make sure a shortage of towels never happens again.
We are within easy driving distance of a number of area attractions which include Chimney Rock Park, Lake Lure, The Biltmore Estate, Pisgah National Forest, Dupont Forest, Flat Rock Playhouse, Bat Cave, Grandfather Mountain, Mt. Mitchell, Blue Ridge Parkway, Linville Caverns, Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Blue Ridge Corn Maze, Gorges State Park, and The Carl Sandburg Home. These are all about 30 minutes from our Cabin. Downtown Hendersonville has many shops including antique shops, classic diner and soda shop, home made fudge store, and a Mast General Store, just to name a few, and lots of great restaurants, which are only a 20 minute drive. There are many festivals and bands the play in the downtown area throughout the year. We have ski slopes in the winter and hiking, waterfalls, white water rafting, and horseback riding in the summer. Whatever your interest in the mountains, you're sure to find it here in Hendersonville.
