About David Dilday

I grew up in the Northeast and would visit my grandmother in NC often. I have always loved vacationing in the NC mountains.

David Dilday purchased this cabin in 2010

Why David Dilday chose Zirconia

I bought this property because my girls and I loved the mountains of NC. There is so much to do and see and the people are great. This property has tons of peace and privacy but is within 20 minutes of down town Hendersonville and all the shopping, restaurants, and exploring you would ever want.

What makes this cabin unique

We love the cool mountain air, spring and fall colors, and having a place to get away from it all, yet be close enough to all the activities you could ever want. You get the best of both worlds. Relax in the hammocks on the veranda or kick back on the large porch. Hike down to the pond or stream and listen to the relaxing sounds of the water and birds.

Guestbook comments from the manager

My husband and I had a wonderful 5 year anniversary getaway here at the cabin. We loved taking our dogs for walks. We had a very scenic trip to Hendersonville when our GPS sent us left out of the driveway. The NC Aboretum was a beautiful visit and afterwards we enjoyed ice cream and window shopping in Hendersonville. The waterfalls were beautiful and we could have spent several days at the park, but mostly we enjoyed unwinding in this beautiful escape. The hammocks were our favorite reading spot and we loved having the windows open to enjoy the sounds of nature.

Wonderful peaceful getaway

  • 5 of 5

First time using VRBO and was a bit nervous. Experience couldn't have been better! Cabin was absolutely adorable. We kept remarking on how spotless and clean everything was. Never saw a single bug or critter inside. Owner thought of everything. Kitchen fully stocked. Loved all the little bears. Property was beautiful. Spent lots of time walking the trails and sitting out by the fire pit. Only thing that wasn't perfect was the driveway. A bit difficult to navigate, especially in the rain. Two suggestions: I agree with others that curtains upstairs would be nice, it would make it easier to sleep in in the mornings. Also, would have liked to have a flashlight or lantern. Power went out briefly our first night there. Tip to others: check out Point Lookout Vineyards in Hendersonville. They just opened this summer, so not in many travel magazines or advertisements for it yet. Fantastic wines and the most amazing mountain views we found in the area!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful cabin with us. We were truly sad when we had to leave. We hope to stay here again next time we are back in North Carolina!

Owner's Response: Erica, We are very happy you had such a wonderful stay at the Veranda, and look forward to your next visit. We are planning on installing curtains upstairs in the near future. We usually have flash lights in the cabin, but they keep disappearing. David

Good location, quiet and peaceful overall.

  • 5 of 5

When you first pull up to the property it may not be exactly what you were expecting but once you open the cabin door you quickly change your opinion. The cabin is beautiful and rustic. The amount of space makes it extremely cozy. We spent most of our time hiking the nearby National Parks, enjoying the waterfalls, visiting the two wineries, and overall site seeing. The cabin was a great place to come back, rest and recoup for the next days adventure. It was nice because we were able to bring our German Shepherd along. The property was well taken care of and had all the amenities and then some. We will definitely refer our family and friends. Thank you for making this vacation and smooth and easy one.

The perfect quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was lovely! Despite the rain I had a great time relaxing in the hammocks, this was the perfect spot for a much needed quiet getaway. The cabin was so clean when I walked in, I was very impressed with everything. The dish network even worked well in the heavy rain.

Overpriced and full of bugs!

  • 2 of 5

Very overpriced for a converted barn and full of spiders!! Mosquitos were terrible so bring bug spray!

Owner's Response: Crystal, We realize you were not happy when you could not get a refund for your last minute cancellation request, but that is no reason to leave an inaccurate review. Our home is a log cabin, not a converted barn, and the pictures reflect that. We keep our home very clean and bug free, and have never had a complaint. We have never had a complaint about mosquito's from any of our guests. Our prices are among the lowest in the area for such nice accommodations. David
