Lush green wetlands border the home's east side, providing views of nature and the gulf beyond. Private boardwalk to beach access and next door to Highland House, private events facility. Home has covered wrap deck on main level and private deck upstairs off master bedroom. Interior newly remodeled throughout including hardwood floors, granite counter tops, glass back splash, new vanities, upgraded kitchen cabinets, wood ceilings, Florida trim, and much more. Living room, dining, kitchen with breakfast bar, bedroom with queen bed, bath and laundry on main level. Master bedroom with king bed and private bath, bedroom with two sets of bunk beds and its own private bath on the second level. Third level bedroom provides queen bed and private bath. Sleeps as many as 12, and 13 if using the portable twin. Dining for 10. Located on a private street surrounded by grand scale properties; next door to Sunrise Beach. Street leads to public beach access that is basically private; gets very little use by public at large. Island Girl's private boardwalk ties into to the public boardwalk a short distance prior to reaching the beach. Fred and I have a real estate company in our hometown of Jonesboro, AR. We have always invested in rental property in Jonesboro, yet always dreamed of investing in the 30A area one day. We now own and manage four properties that are located within a two block area of Santa Rosa Beach.

Why Brenda Dacus chose Beaches of South Walton

Our family has enjoyed vacationing in the 30A area over the past 40 years and always looked forward to return visits. We rented the beach cottage original to the site of Sunrise Beach and Shell Seekers Cove (no longer standing) on several occasions years ago. And since Sunrise Beach was developed, we have rented there as well. We always thought it would have been special to own that old-style Florida bungalow and remember vividly the wonderful times spent there. Its spirit is still much alive to us to this day. So when we decided to purchase a property of our own, we were excited to locate a property within yards of the home we once desired. That home is now Island Time in Sunrise Beach. Then two years later we discovered what has since become our Island Girl. Her street is possibly the very drive that led to the original bungalow. We spent a year remodeling the home and installing the pool and decking to make her special. We wanted to continue the tradition of providing a place where guests could store their own memories on these special grounds.

What makes this house unique

I love this particular street of homes; tucked away and yet so close to the beach. I love walking on the private boardwalk and sitting on the steps to the beach watching the sunset, the stars at night and listening to the surf. I could sit there for hours! I also enjoy being able to walk to good restaurants at night. And the decks, pool and oversize decking offer many hours of outdoor enjoyment. But the beach is the special attraction! Walking in the white sand is like walking in powdered sugar. It is amazing!! But then there is the surf!!!!

Notes:
Ideal area and property for family vacation. Three houses back from one of the best beaches in the world. Tourist attractions available in Destin and Panama City Beach; within 15-30 minutes driving time. Historic areas also within the region. Wonderful parks and trails for exploring. Area not as crowded as Destin and Panama City Beach. Can get away from it all if you prefer.

This is our second visit to 30A. Last year we rented a condo. This year we rented "Island Girl", and what a difference it made.

"Island Girl" was just PERFECT!!! Our family consisted of 9, and we had ample room. The house was wonderfully furnished. The kitchen had everything we needed ( pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc...). We have rented some properties where the kitchen had mixed matched supplies, not " Island Girl". She was also well stocked in soaps, detergents, paper products, trash bags, etc.... Bathrooms were ample as well. We had 2 teenage girls, little kids and 4 adults. We all had plenty of bath space and hot water.

Outside amenities were perfect as well. The pool is full size, and not just a splash pool with plenty of privacy provided by the house and surrounding foliage. The boardwalk was a short walk to beach with little traffic because of the private entrance used only by the four houses

on our street.

Brenda was wonderful to work with!!! She answered any questions we put forward and provided loads of tips for the surrounding area. We are already planning our next trip with more people, and Brenda will be the first person we contact. Thanks Brenda!

If "Island Girl" is one of your top selections in your rental search, then seriously consider her, you will not be disappointed!!

Great house and close distance to the beach!

My husband and I just returned home from staying at Island Girl with our 3 small children and my in-laws. We had a great vacation! The house is exactly as it looks in the pictures. It was newly remodeled and was very clean. Upon arrival, the house was stocked with toilet paper, garbage bags, detergents, soap, etc., which was helpful. The owner also provided a vacuum cleaner, brooms, charcoal, a high chair, step stools, lots of bathroom towels and other helpful little amenities. You will need to bring your own beach towels, which is probably the case with most rentals. Regarding any little issue/question that I had, the owner was very responsive. Having 3 small children, I found the distance to the beach really ideal. The backyard opens to a boardwalk which brings you directly to the beach without going on streets. That is really helpful for people with children. The boardwalk trip to the beach does involve stairs, but we navigated it easily with our beach cart loaded with chairs and toys. Also helpful for people with children is that the public beach with lifeguards is a short distance away, so you could easily 'camp out' by the lifeguards for added safety, or use the beach near the house for a less-crowded/busy beach. The private pool behind the house is a nice size and was really nice as well. The pool was cleaned/serviced twice a week by a friendly technician and was a lovely place to spend time with the children in a very private, secluded setting. The pool got morning/early afternoon sun and was shady after around 3pm. The shaded pool time was great when I thought the kids had too much sun for the day, but they still wanted to play in the water. The homes to each side of Island Girl are situated in such a way that Island Girls' backyard is very private. We had a lovely vacation and felt that Island Girl was well maintained and very charming. The home was a great fit for our family.

And I often wonder if the amenities provided are even noticed, but you have confirmed they are. Island Girl did not have a pool when we purchased the cottage. We worked months on plans, trying to get the most we could with the space that was available. So we are especially pleased you enjoyed the pool, deck and setting so much. And you are right, you don't have to go down streets to get to the beach. Our boardwalk is so private, I like to go down late at night and sit at the end just to listen to the surf. But I hadn't stopped to think about lifeguards being at Ed Wahline public beach access nearby. We always stay in the area off our boardwalk because it is less crowded. I can see how that would be an advantage, especially if you have small children. Thanks again for the kind words. We hope to see you in the future!

Great new rental!

We just returned from a week at Island Girl. It was very difficult to leave as it was such an enjoyable home and location. The owners did an amazing job renovating this home, no detail was spared. It is the perfect blend of upscale but beachy and comfortable. The colors in the home are very happy, the furniture and bedding are very comfortable, and it just feels good being there. It's neither sparsely decorated like some rentals are, nor cluttered like others can be. Every surface is brand new and the home was extremely clean upon our arrival. We also appreciated that the owners supplied us with a lot of the little necessities that many larger rental companies don't bother to include like; starter coffee and creamer, mini shampoo and toiletries, multiple rolls of toilet paper, trash bags that lasted us the week, cleaning supplies, detergent, charcoal etc. The listing very accurately describes the home. The pool was in a private backyard and was nicely landscaped, there was a nice view while floating in the pool! Many of the pools in the immediate area were not private, they were set on the street, or were smaller than this one. The short walk to the beach was very pleasant and close enough you could run back for food or drinks. We also appreciated the keyless entry as we didn't have to keep track of who had the key with many of us coming and going at different times. The owners clearly have the rental property system well worked out, they have done a great job anticipating the needs of families renting homes for vacation. Brenda was very attentive and informative throughout the entire rental and check in process and returned our security deposit extremely quickly. It was like renting from a boutique firm with all of the perks of a smaller rental company!

I'm a very picky renter and This did not disappoint! Choose this one! Choose this one!!

I wanted to do a road trip with my sister, niece, nephew and one of my kids. Sharing a hotel room with teenagers is NOT an option. Even my own family of 4 rooms and even condos have become a bit crowded and for the price gotta love the houses. I've rented in various states and countries. I tend to look at each and every listing, perhaps spending more time researching properties than I actually spend on my vacation. If you're reading this, stop now and book this home. I will just say that it's hard to get a beautiful picture that does this home justice from the front, but it is a beauty. The location is spectacular. It is on such a pristine, unspoiled and uncrowded piece of 30a that I will highly suggest this home to my friends, family and anyone reading this.

I will say that when looking at reviews and listings I'm hoping to find uncluttered, rooms with out cheesy themes. I prefer higher end furnishings and kitchens and bathrooms. I was not disappointed. In fact in the past I've gotten to a rental only to find that the photos were old and what I walked into was less than stellar. Here however, were excited and loving this home from the second we stepped onto the porch and experienced the vast size, beauty, charm, cleanliness, and amenities offered.

Brenda the owner, was such a pleasure to work with before and during our stay. I honestly could write all day about the great experience we all had. The walk to the beach is about 30 seconds and really perfect. It was a chilly week and the private pool is blocked from the winds and in the best spot for the sun until late afternoon. So private unlike some of the others in that area. The beach is right there, and the sunsets rock!

Bring your kites, loved ones, and about a dozen candles for the spectacular candle holders out by the pool and enjoy the evenings there, the days at the pool and beach and if you feel that you need to leave the house then consider the location perfect.

Yes, she is difficult to capture in a photograph, so I am really not surprised when you emailed me that the home exceeded your expectations. The home is unique in terms of location, and that also is difficult to describe to others. That was a major part of the home's appeal for us when we decided to purchase; worth the time and hours of work toward remodeling. It became a labor of love in the process. We probably went overboard in making certain she was as special as the homes that surround her. And while I think it takes a little longer than thirty seconds to get to the beach, it is a very short walk. Again, we are pleased you were pleased with your experience at Island Girl. And we hope to see you return; especially hope we have more guests like you!

Beach communities along a 26 mile area of Highway 30A that are collectively referred to as 30A. Each community has its own personality; includes Seaside, Grayton Beach, Sea grove, Watercolor, Water sould, Rosemary Beach, and Santa Rosa Beach. The area in general is more laid back, less congestive, with no high rises or franchised restaurants. Beaches sport white sand; almost like powdered sugar. Santa Rosa Beach was listed by Yahoo Travel a few years ago as being a top 10 beach. Restaurants are privately owned with many boasting notable chefs.
