A queen sized bed in the main bedroom sleeps two but there is also another blow-up queen sized bed in another room along with an electric pump and all the bedding needed. About Vicki deVille

I am a native Portlander and also a property developer/interior designer. I lived in Hawaii for 29 years but have come back to Portland to spend time with aging parents and grandchildren. I have traveled extensively, spending time in more than 74 countries and know what to expect in a fine hotel.

Vicki deVille purchased this house in 2001

Why Vicki deVille chose Portland Heights

This home has a unique sense of character and the location is wonderful. It is an easy stroll to Downtown,, the Saturday Portland State farmers Market, NW 23rd Street and to the Pearl. A $5 taxi ride back up the hill makes it easy for those who don't want to walk back. There is also a bus stop right across the street.

What makes this house unique

This home was built in 1950 by Eric Ladd who re-used pieces of the historic Portland Hotel which was torn down that year and stood where Pioneer Place is now located. I purchased the White Stag Windows from the Rebuilding Center and added to Mr. Ladd's legacy by using them to define the suite you will be staying in.

It can be used except during stormy weather when you would want to be downstairs snuggled up to the fireplace anyway!

Exquisite hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Vicki's artist studio is an exquisite, beautiful, romantic hideaway right in the historic city. Everything you need is arms length away and every detail has been attended. We will be visiting much more often and always staying Here! Don't forget the deck to enjoy a nightcap....even when its chilly! Thank you so much for sharing your home!

We Love The Property

  • 2 of 5

We have stayed here before since our daughter lives in Portland. The property is unique and beautiful and Vicki is a delightful person to know. However, we booked 4 nights and were only able to stay 2 nights due to the snow and ice storm in Portland. Navigating up the hill to the house was impossible as it was virtually a skating rink unless you had a 4 wheel drive or chains (which we were unable to get with the rental agency). After two attempts and even attempts by an Uber driver to try to get us there, the driver could not make it with front wheel drive and we had to walk down a steep hill on the ice and snow to get another driver. We ended up staying 2 of the nights in a Hotel in Downtown Portland and the rest of the time with our daughter in Beaverton.

I suggest that in the winter time in Portland if there is snow or freezing weather predicted that people are warned about staying in a hilly area without the proper vehicle. It also made it more difficult because there are no snow plows or even sand trucks that we saw even on the main roads. We would definitely stay at Vicki's again, just probably not with snow or freezing rain predicted...

Warm and welcoming

  • 5 of 5

I thought I would try something different from my usual hotel stay in Portland, and what a great decision. The suite was clean and very well-appointed. The views of the city were lovely, and the hostess really made me feel welcomed. It was easy to Uber into town, and I stumbled upon an enchanting hiking trail as I explored the neighborhood. I will most definitely be back!

Beautiful adventure overlooking downtown Portland

  • 5 of 5

Excellent quality VRBO. High end amenities including granite countertops and an amazing all tile bathroom with a rain shower attachment. We had drinks every night before venturing to dinner on a spacious covered and heated balcony overlooking the twinkling lights of the city. Absolutely a fabulous walk downhill to downtown ...then plan on ubering back. Our hostess Vicki was wonderful! We decided she was the hostess with the "most"est,". Thanks Vicki!!

Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed here before and will stay again. It was a great experience the owner is very friendly and the extra's like the patio with view are all very nice! It is close enough to downtown that you can walk and catch a cab home at the end of the evening. I would definitely recommend this to any and all who are staying in Portland.
