Beautiful London Location
The beautiful, 3-story home in the Chelsea-Kensington area of London was an excellent choice for us. We were a party of 4 - 3 adults and 1 teen - and we had a tremendous amount of room. The house was extremely functional and had plenty of room. The kitchen is on the bottom floor and is fully equipped including a large fridge - uncommon in London homes. Everything you could possibly need is provided. We had breakfast in every day and had dinner in twice. Nice comfy chairs down there too if you need some quiet time. The second floor is the living quarters and plenty of room to gather after a busy day. The top floor is the sleeping quarters. The Master BR is very large and the bathroom is one of the largest of any English home or hotel we have stayed at. The second BR is also very spacious. The third BR is a little tight and if you are tall you risk bumping your head on the ceiling every time you get up. But it is great and plenty roomy for young children. The location is a 10-minute walk to one of the best Tubes (Earl's Court) in all of London. We just jumped on the District line everyday at the Tube Station and got off at all the key attractions and sights. Only had to change once for the Piccadilly line.
The home is located next to good restaurants, bagel shops, and stores and away from the heavy traffic and people of central London. Martine, the Owner is very attentive and responsive. She took care of us from start to finish. I cannot recommend this house enough if you are looking for a beautiful, spacious, and affordable VRBO home in one of London's most attractive areas.
The house has one master bedroom and two smaller bedrooms. It is well maintained and has more charm than a typical rental because it is actually used as a residence by its owners. It is close to two small grocery stores and about a 15 minute walk from the underground. The neighborhood is very residential. I would definitely consider staying at the house again.
Great location. Beautiful home.
Location was fabulous. Close to everything by bus and tube. It was the best to be away from the tourists and in a safe comfortable neighbourhood. House was perfect for our family of 5.
Perfect Place for Exploring London
This was a very nice home, with a well appointed kitchen, good spaces to hang out in and very nice bedrooms. The artwork and books in the house give it a sophisticated feel. The owner was extremely responsive to any questions and concerns, as was the woman she's appointed to look after house. I would definitely stay there again. But I will reiterate what others have said - it is noisy. There is traffic, including ambulance sirens, right in front of the house. I am usually very sensitive to noise, but I used headphones and white noise and slept well. While noisy, the location is wonderful for easily walking to stores and restaurants or catching a bus or the underground to all areas of the city.
Great House, Host, & location...
We recently rented the house and we had a great time. The house is roomy for a London flat, well kept, clean and although we had an issue, it was handled well and the same day by the local folks managing the property for the owner. We are a family of 5 with 3 older teenagers and all over 6' tall, so not always easy to find a comfortable location. Overall we enjoyed ourselves at the house and in the local area during our first trip to London. However there are a few items that may help prospective renters:
* The location is convenient with some very good restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance.
* The house was comfortable but the twin beds have a foot board which is difficult for taller people.
* You are near a hospital and you will hear the ambulances regularly but not so much at night.
* As with most places in London, no AC so if its hot outside - it gets hot inside, then windows open but this lets in much more noise. Evenings cool down well!
* For 1st timers - do the Big Bus Tour and get a weekly Oyster card! Local bus stop is very close to the house make it easy to get anywhere in London.
Thanks for a great time in London!
Beautiful and well located.
Enjoyed our stay.
The house is within walking distance of London's famous museums (Victoria & Albert, Science Museum, Natural History) and is conveniently situated for transport facilities (the metro stations of Earls Court, South Kensington and Fulham Broadway are roughly equi-distant, buses right into the centre run every 10 minutes from outside the house (20mins to Piccadilly Circus or Victoria). The famous 'Easybus' brings you directly from Gatwick Airport in about one hour to Fulham Broadway. There are several 24 hour supermarkets within minutes walk from the house. 20 minutes walk (5 mins jog) to Battersea Park and Cheyne Walk along the River Thames. The house is within minutes walk of many bars, eclectic and multi national restaurants, cinemas, galleries, a church, a gym (Virgin), shops, bakeries etc etc.
