Unique, private luxury home on secluded river lot
Enjoy a wonderful luxury home experience on one of northern Michigan's most famous rivers. The two-and-a-half bathroom home has three bedrooms and two loft rooms that are versatile and can accommodate a number of guests. The outdoor deck (riverside), the many windows, and the long kitchen bar are among the many unique features. However, the Rumford fireplace with Black River Michigan stone on the exterior is the centerpiece attraction. The house also features a three-zone geothermal heating and cooling system. The upper lofts are reached by ascending an iron-rod spiral staircase.
The ground-floor bedrooms feature foam beds. The master bathroom includes a stone-tiled Jacuzzi tub and shower highlighted with inlaid Petoskey stone. WiFi access and Dish Network satellite television are also available. In addition, you can access your personal Netflix account via Apple TV if desired.
Outdoor activities include easy trail access to the nearby Rayburn property (state-owned) and/or Hanson Hills on the edge of town for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, downhill and cross country skiing, or disc golf, depending on the season. In addition, there are miles of two-tracks, as well as hiking and skiing trails in nearby national forests. Kayak and canoe rental is just five minutes away in downtown Grayling. The local bike shop also has rentals for the town's many bike paths. And of course, the AuSable River provides some of the best fly-fishing in the country!
River access is just steps away from the house, where the water is clear and shallow, and the river bottom sandy for leisurely walks in the great AuSable.
Come and enjoy the river amid privacy and cedar trees all around.

About Nathan Foster RHL2016-00112
Nathan and Randi Foster purchased the property in 2006, returning it to the Foster Family after three decades of various ownership. In 1975, Nathan’s grandfather Dud Foster purchased a large swath of land at the headwaters of the AuSable, near Grayling, named by early trappers as Breakfast Point. Dud eventually subdivided his holding it into several parcels. He saw something in the river and surrounding cedar swamp that intrigued him. He turned the swamp into little hobbits of habitability one truck load of sand and a handful of Petosky stones at time. Nathan’s other grandfather Art Lindauer, who lived his life as an architect and farmer, designed the home. Inspired by famous architects before him, Art’s vision and unique ideas have come to life inside and out. Some notable features include stained concrete floors, spiral staircase, natural light, large windows, diamond windows in the lofts, the Rumford fireplace, tight white stucco with a splash of color. The drawings of the River House at Breakfast Point hang in the walkway overlooking the great room in tribute to his efforts. We are proud to offer a unique, modern, luxury home on the banks of the Au Sable River at a place called Breakfast Point.

This is a beautiful home in a great location next to the AuSable. The home has every amenity needed. We stayed in November so we enjoyed the fireplace. I liked having the trail nearby for a bit of exercise. Most importantly, the home is clean. Not one dusty corner like we find in most rentals. We look forward to returning during the summer months!
Extremely nice property, immaculately maintained and in a peaceful riverfront setting. This is not a up north cabin, it's a modern home with high end details and amenities. We will be staying here again.
Clean and Peaceful Setting
After a few stressful months, my family needed a break. This property was the perfect retreat. We hike at Hartwick Pines State Park and fished. We enjoyed grilling our catch for dinner and relaxing by the campfire with s'mores at night! Thanks for sharing this special place!
Thank you so much for going out of your way to help us feel at home in your home. The clean, organized, fresh and modern environment worked so well for us! The freedom to explore the outdoors and the well manicured yard and trails were such a bonus! We all enjoyed the shallow river right off the dock. Our experienced matched our expectations!!
The River House...beautifully set on the AuSable.
The River House location on the AuSable with easy access to kayak and canoeing fun, is a gem in northern Michigan. It is private, quiet and relaxing. The design of the house is stunning and comfortable at the same time. The caretakers next door are gracious and attentive. The weather was beautiful, giving us a cool respite from the summer heat and humidity of Virginia.
We would highly recommend!

very nice stay
This is nice clean home located on a great spot on the AuSable. We were 2 couples so plenty of room for us. We floated on the river, had a campfire, grilled steaks, went in town for some drinks and dinner, and just relaxed. We are from the general area so we know the area well but it was a nice local getaway for us. The river location is really ideal. I like the twist of modern conveniences in the quiet wooded setting. Very happy with our stay!
Canoeing, Fishing, Golf, Skiing, Snowmobiling... all here!
