Relax into the embrace of the Hawaiian Goddess, Hina, when you step into the grand entryway through etched glass doors depicting gorgeous heliconia flowers and towering banana trees. This custom 2661 square foot, three bedroom, three bath hale has everything you need for a peaceful, reenergizing, private tropical island vacation.

Upon entering the expansive great room, the cathedral ceilings create a vast sense of space. Curl up on the cushy crescent moon couch and watch your favorite Blu Ray movie on the 60” flat screen with surround sound, or listen to tunes through the integrated sound system. Let the captivating view lure you through the two giant pocket doors onto the covered lanai, as Hale Hina seamlessly connects the indoors to the outdoors.

Grill some freshly caught fish, local grass-fed beef, or your favorite veggies (picked up at the Keauhou Farmers Market) at the convenient outdoor kitchen. The lanai features ample covered dining space for six people and an outdoor seating area for cocktails and conversation. Afternoons melt away in this peaceful setting where you can unwind in the hot tub or the infinity pool and your privacy is protected by the tropical landscaping and lava rock terracing.

The gourmet indoor kitchen is a chef’s dream with granite counters, cherry cabinets and all the tools you need to make a simple meal or an epicurean delight.

The spacious master suite features a king size bed, walk-in closet and large pocket doors that open to the lanai --revealing the soothing ocean views. Slide between the soft cool sheets after an evening soak in the hot tub, located just outside the bedroom. Unlike hotels and condos, Hale Hina’s pool and hot tub don’t have a closing time! The master bath includes a walk through marble shower concealed behind a glass etched ocean scene, Jacuzzi bathtub, a long granite counter with two sinks and a separate toilet room.

The second master suite includes a king bed, its own spacious bathroom with double sinks, a walk in shower, and outside access through a sliding glass door with a path to the pool area.

About Sallie Haws

Hale Hina is owned by two sisters, Sallie Haws and Amy Haws Peck, who grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. Sallie worked for 26 years at the family company, Haws Corporation, a drinking fountain and emergency equipment manufacturer that was sold to the cousins in 2011. Sallie now manages the Haws Family Office. Sallie, her husband Jim Bowers (Hale Hina's official photographer), and her two children Marquise and Terry Van Tassel live in Las Vegas, Nevada. Amy and her husband Dennis Peck live in Escondido, CA. Amy owns and operates The Goddess Studio that helps empower women through dance and ceremony; Amy is also the artist of two original flower paintings on display inside Hale Hina.

Why Sallie Haws chose Keauhou

The Haws Family has loved the Big Island for many years. Our parents spent 2-4 weeks a year at the Kona Village Resort for over 30 years until it was closed due to the February 2011 tsunami. Amy and Dennis spent their honeymoon at Kona Village as well. Sallie and Jim traveled to Kona every other year with the kids for the last 10 years.

We picked Hale Hina for its single story, 3 bedroom layout, it's amazing view and the fact that it had air conditioning and a hot tub. We realized that we didn't need to be on the ocean, we just wanted to SEE the ocean. The house was owned and built by a couple who lived there as their primary residence and therefore put great energy and many special touches into their dream home.

Additional benefits include an on-island property manager/concierge who is available to help make your vacation exceed your expectations. Keauhou Shopping Center is a beautiful open air shopping center only a few minutes drive from Hale Hina. This center offers a great KTA market, Long drugs, post office, dining and a seven-plex movie theater. The island's most famous snorkeling beach-Kahaluu Beach Park is also close by.

Amazing home away from home for our family vacation!

In all our years coming to HI, this was our first time to venture away from the beachfront resort hotels - and we have discovered our new favorite way to travel! Hale Hina, quite frankly, MADE our vacation! The home is gorgeous, from comfortable amenities throughout to meticulous attention to every conceivable detail needed to make our stay amazing. Having the "best seat in the house" to every Hawaiian sunset, whether lounging on the lanai or soaking in the hot tub, was an added bonus! Ute (the property manager) was friendly, extremely attentive, and helpful to get us settled in for our stay. I must say that the entire experience was managed impeccably well - it could not have been easier to get in and hit the ground running on our vacation. There is something to be said for enjoying a relaxed family meal around the table in your own "home" while on vacation - and Hale Hina was the perfect home in which to do that. My son enjoyed "Christmas movie nights" in the family room around the big screen TV (complete w/ surround sound), and the adults enjoyed grilling out and basking in the peaceful serenity on the huge lanai. There aren't enough great things that we can say about our experience at Hale Hina, but what is perhaps most telling is that nearly every one of our favorite memories from this trip involves some moment spent in this home. To us, Hale Hina WAS the vacation, and that's not something you can get at a crowded resort hotel (no matter the location or the price). Thanks (or excuse me, Mahalo) to Sallie (the owner) and Ute for making our vacation at Hale Hina more than we ever thought possible, and sharing your wonderful home with our family! We will be back one day soon! Aloha!

Wonderful Family Spring Break

We stayed over Spring break. We had 8 of us 4 adults and 4 kids. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep and the 2 suites were a bonus. The kitchen and living area were large and decorated beautifully. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we might need. All of the bedrooms were spacious and the house was very clean.

We spent a ton of time in the pool and outdoor space. The VIEW, THE VIEW oh my gosh it's amazing. To sit on the patio or in the pool and look at the water made for wonderful days. The sunsets were beyond magical. Each day we couldn't believe our eyes to be in such a beautiful place. We really cannot wait to go back to paradise. The neighborhood was really nice with lots of well manicured plants and bushes.

The house is located in a great location to go south, north or across the island.

The property owner and manager were very easy to work with and always available if needed.

Amazing place

Stayed here in march 2018. Amazing place! Absolutely perfect! Jaw dropping views, beautiful home, Having the little shopping center less than a 2 minute drive was a delight as well. My only complaint was I couldn't keep my kids out of the pool :)

Home away from home.

Based on your description and pictures of your home we had very high expectations . The property and amenities went well beyond our expectations. It is beautifully decorated and we loved the property manual (what we called the "bible") with instructions and helpful hints for everything. The kitchen and kitchenware was more than I have at home. The open wall to the lanai was great and allowed us to enjoy the weather; the pool and hot tub was great.

I love this home!

We have literally stayed in vrbo homes throughout the world ( homeschooled while living a year abroad 256 days and 19 countries). This is by far the best home and we could easily move in tomorrow and never leave. Thank you for making our Big Island experience so much better by having a beautiful and well laid out home for my crew of 7 to enjoy.

Lovely Home

This is an amazing home. Beautifully furnished, great lanai, incredible ocean views and infinity pool. Every kitchen item one can think of.

We recommend renters check the condition of all furniture and document with the property manager upon checking in. We were charged for minor damages that we do not believe we did.

Owner's Response: In many cases it can be difficult to clearly determine whether or not damage was caused during a particular guests stay. However, in this case it was not. The damage in question was to two recliners that had just been received back from being re-upholstered two days prior to their arrival, and two days after the previous guest checked out, during a time when the house was unoccupied. When the upholsterer returned the furniture, several photos were taken and the recliners were thoroughly inspected prior to paying for the new upholstery. The photos clearly show intact and undamaged recliners. On the day our guests checked out, the frame of one recliner was bent and both the arm rests were broken on the other. So, somehow, during their stay, both recliners sustained damage. As communicative as these guests were, I was surprised they hadn't informed us of the damage since one of the broken pieces of the recliner arms was left on the counter for our property manager to find. So, I have to agree with them completely, that if you spot any damage upon checking in, please report it in writing immediately. As I said, sometimes, especially when we have quick, back-to-back, turns we could miss some damage that was caused by a previous guest. However, that just wasn't the circumstance in this situation.

Stays of 14 nights or more will be charged an Interim Cleaning Fee of $105.00 (plus taxes) in addition to the Departure Cleaning Fee of $350.00 (plus taxes).
