Open the door to our Playa Caribe condo and the view of the sparkling turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean will take your breath away! You will walk into a deluxe oceanfront condo on the 2nd floor overlooking our swimming pool that is exclusively for Playa Caribe guests. You are only steps from our white sand beach on Half Moon Bay that is filled with lounge chairs and palapas for you to use. And then you walk into the warm waters of Half Moon Bay and are soon snorkeling with turtles, rays, parrot fish---an unforgettable experience.

There are many condo buildings in Akumal but Playa Caribe is the only one to have it's own reverse osmosis water system--we purify our water so that you can drink water right from the tap! If you are looking for a deluxe condo to spend your vacation you will not be disappointed when renting our condo. Amenities includes daily maid service, 24 hr. security, private parking, reception manager, full time maintenance men, purified water and much more.

Description of our condo, Playa Caribe 6: As art lovers we have filled our condo with art purchased from local artists and Mexican folk art. The white walls of our spacious condo provide the perfect backdrop for our bright, lively collection of art There are 2 oversized bedrooms (1 king bed in master bdrm. and 2 dbl. beds in 2nd bedroom) with handwoven Oaxacan spreads on all beds. There are 2 full baths with handpainted sinks, high quality lines, tiled baths in each. The kitchen is fully equipped. The living room and dining area chairs/couches are covered in bright, tropical fabrics. Our oceanfront patio is fully furnished and we also have 2 back patios looking out to the jungle with a bbq on one patio and small table/chairs on the 2nd patio.

In our living room area we have a TV, CD player, DVD player, IPOD dock, books, games, cards. We have beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards in our closet for guests to use. Hairdryers are in each bath and an iron, ironing board, safe are all in the closet for our guests.

Playa Caribe staff & their services: When you are a guest at Playa Caribe you will have daily maid service, private parking, 24 hour security, maintenance men on site and the services of our front desk manager, Agustin. He can make any reservations you need from renting a golf cart or car, arranging transportation, reserving tee times, dinner reservations, excursions including the Sian Kaan Biosphere trip, reconfirming your flights---Agustin is there to help you with any request you may have.

Why we love Akumal!: When we 'found' Akumal 10 years ago we fell in love with this charming village and Playa Caribe. We knew that this was where we wanted to own our vacation home. We have not been sorry we made this decision and continue to love the time we spend there. Akumal is in the heart of Riviera Maya, the home of the Mayan people, and they are gentle, loving, honest people and we are proud to call so many our friends. Akumal is home to many wonderful people and is filled with restaurants, boutiques, grocery stores, medical services so that you will really have all you need for a great vacation.

We begin our day walking the few steps from our door to the warm waters of Half Moon Bay to snorkel before breakfast. This is the beginning of a perfect day in our own piece of paradise---Playa Caribe and Akumal. Our days are filled with beach time, enjoying reading under a palapa/on our oceanfront patio or sipping a margarita on the beach at our own 'happy hour' before walking to dinner at La Lunita.

We are Gary and Myrna Sparks and live in El Dorado Hills, California, which is near Sacramento. Gary is a CPA and Myrna owns a travel agency. We love to travel, play golf, have time with our friends, snorkel and treasure our time with our family and grandchildren.

We had been looking for an oceanfront condo in other parts of Mexico when we discovered the charming village of Akumal, Half Moon Bay and Playa Caribe condos. We looked at every condo on Half Moon Bay when we decided to buy a condo and knew from the moment we opened the door to our condo that this was the one. The first view of the turquoise waters of the Caribbean when you walk into our condo from floor to ceiling windows are unforgettable. We walked out to the large patio overlooking the sea and could not believe our good luck in finding such a beautiful place.

We have filled our condo with colorful, original and local art, high quality fabrics, furnishings, linens and have had a lot of fun over the years finding each special item.

We have a staff that is fabulous and have been with Playa Caribe for many years. They are trustworthy and take responsibility for the happiness of our guests who stay with us..

What makes this condo unique

Playa Caribe has the reputation of the very best condo building in Akumal for many reasons. These include:

*PURIFIED WATER FROM THE TAP--Playa Caribe is the ONLY condo building in Akumal that has the reverse osmosis water system so that you can brush your teeth, drink water from the tap, make ice cubes and not worry a bit that you will be sick. This is a huge reason we bought our condo at Playa Caribe.

*We have a swimming pool for our guests and we are one of a few condo buildings with a swimming pool.

*Our condo is furnished with the highest quality of linens, dishes, handwoven bedspreads, Tommy Bahama fabrics on the couches and local, original artwork. We bring all linens from the U.S. to make sure they are of the highest quality possible.

*Our incredible staff to help our guests with anything they need, 24 hour security---our night watchman is there from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and can help at night with anything needed. Agustin is our reception manager and can make any reservations you may need.

*Daily maid service is included in your nightly rate. Our maid, Patty, has been with us for many years and is trustworthy and helpful in every way. We do not require an additional cleaning deposit.

*Private parking is included in your cost. We own the parking lot across from the condo so that our guests always have plenty of parking available. This is not true of many of the condo buildings.

*Playa Caribe is located in the center of Half Moon Bay and it is an easy 5 minute walk to the south to La Buena Vida or an easy 5 minute walk to the north to La Lunita Restaurant. There is a small market across the street from Playa Caribe..

We (my husband, 13 year old son and I) have just returned from an amazing vacation in Akumal, Mexico. We stayed at Playa Caribe in Condo #6. Myrna, the owner, was wonderful to deal with from start to finish. She promptly and thoroughly answered all of our many questions both pre-booking and post-booking, sent us a packet of helpful information and was eager to share her love and knowledge of Akumal.



We did a lot of reseach about rentals in Akumal before deciding on Playa Caribe

which we chose for these reasons: location on Half Moon Bay, 24 hour security on site, daily maid service, onsite manager,swimming pool, water purification system.



We settle on #6 for these reasons: Myrna was very responsive to all of our pre-booking quetions so we thought she would be a good person ot rent from (we were correct in that regard), we wanted to be on the 2nd floor since there is no elevator in the building, and we could see from the photos of #6 that it is well maintained as a home and not just a rental unit (this also proved to be true).



When we arrived at the condo it met all of our expectations and then some. The condo has 2 bedroom each with it's own bathroom and small balcony. It also has a kitchen/dining/living area with full glass windowns facing the bay and front balcony. The condo was very clean, nicely decorated and extremely spacious--our guess is about 1200 square feet. The kitchen is very well equipped for all our needs. There is no overn but has a full stove top with 4 burners, a microwave, toaster oven, toaster if you need them. There are TVs in the master bedroom and living room. We also enjoyed the varied music CDs provided in the condo.



The view of Half Moon Bay is stunning from the balcony of the living room and while the sun is rather strong in the early morning we found it the perfect place for afternoon happy hour or reading a book.



The Wifi is outstanding. The daily maid service is good and Agustin, the reception manager is very helpful. The security guard at not is very attentive and the maintenance crew at the condo works extremely hard.



There are lounge chairs and shaded umbrellas at the condo pool and sandy beach directly in front of the condo. We were there for Christmas and New Years week (undoubtedly the busiest time of the year) and we never encountered a problem with the pool or beach being too noisy or crowded.



We highly recommend Playa Caribe #6. Myrna is a wonderful host, the condo is fabulous and Akumal is magical.

Perfection!!!

After a lot of searching different places to stay in Akumal I finally decided on Playa Carine #6. I am so glad I did!!! The condo was perfect! Spotless, and stayed that way if you allow the housekeeper to clean for you daily! Quiet and decorated with awesome local artwork. I am in love with Mexico and now I love it even more. Stop here for your perfect vacation. We are vrbo owners also and this place exceeded my expectations.

Perfection!

We have been traveling to Akumal for years staying in different places each visit, this was our 6th visit and this was by far our best experience yet.

The condo is wonderfully appointed, spotlessly cleaned, and in an ideal location.

The condo is beautifully furnished and accented with art by local artisans. The two bedrooms are large and comfortable. Each bedroom had a private balcony with comfortable furniture and great views of the jungle. The living room had a larger balcony overlooking the wonderfully colored sea and pool area. The kitchen was so well equipped, we did not cook much but everything was there if we wanted to.

The location is perfection. Being away from the crowds and vendors of the main beach, but close enough to walk to restaurants, or to drive to Akumal bay to swim with the turtles. Half Moon bay is beautiful, but the water is rougher than Akumal bay, still we had a great time snorkeling right in front of the condo, and the proximity to Yal Ku lagoon, with it's crystal clear water and beautiful fish was wonderful.

We traveled with our two teen-aged nieces and the condo had no problems accommodating the four of us with plenty of room to spare. The bathrooms were spotless and the tile work beautiful.

The condo building in general is beautiful, with a large towering and open atrium with trailing tropical plants--it's very impressive and a welcome thing to come home to after a day of sight-seeing.

Parking was plentiful, both right in front of the building and right across the street.

The daily house keeping service and the building manager were attentive and informative-- as well as being super friendly.

But truly, one of the best aspects of booking and staying here was how smoothly: our booking, reservation, and many questions were handled by the owners Myrna and Gary. Myrna was always one step ahead of me, sending post card reminders well before payments were due, an informative packet with maps and recommendations for dining and activities about a month before our arrival, etc. When we booked our trip the owners were on holiday in South America--even from the jungles of South America Myrna was on top of it!

You can't go wrong with this condo--just book it!

Golf: *The Riviera Maya/Bahia Principe Golf Club has opened only 3 miles south of Akumal and our condo. This is an excellent 18 hole golf course with very well priced green fees. Their all-inclusive price includes your cart, food & beverages on the course.

*Playacar Golf Club is located at Playa del Carmen, 25 miles north of Akumal. This is an excellent 18 hole golf course and also has an all-inclusive price that includes your cart, food & beverages on the course.

*The 'gem' of courses on the Riviera Maya is the Mayakoba course, the home of the only PGA tournament played in Mexico. This tournament is played in late Februrary and this course is located north of Playa del Carmen along with several other courses including the Iberostar course and the Grand Coral course. These courses are approx. 35 miles north of Akumal.

*Puerto Aventuras has a 9 hole, short course that is a fun course for beginning golfers. This course is 15 minutes north of Akumal.

Our reception manager, Agustin, can make teetimes for our guests at all of these excellent courses.

  • Off of each bedroom are two full baths. Each bath has a handpainted sink, beautiful tiled showers, tiled countertops and stained glass windows. The glass shelves in each bath hold many pieces of our collection of Mexican folk art. Each bath has a hair dryer under the counter as well as a first aid kit. At the pool area there is an outdoor shower.

  • Both of our 2 bedrooms are very spacious with lots of closet space and storage. All beds have handwoven Oaxacan bedspreads, foam 'toppers' for snuggle down comfort, high threadcount sheets and pillowcases. A local Akumal artist, Juan Indio, handpainted the headboards above each bed. There is an additional single size air bed and linens for the airbed in needed. Off of each bedroom is a patio looking westward to the jungle. The patio off the master bedroom has a charcoal bbq where we do our grilling. The patio off the second bedroom has a small table, 2 chairs and a tiled bench and is a great place to have coffee in the morning. Both of these patios have hooks for drying wet bathing suits.
