Beautiful Cabin, Great Location, Very Nice Hosts

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was absolutely perfect for my husband and I's recent trip with friends. It was my first time seeing Yosemite and part of the reason my visit was so great was because of this cabin!

I loved how we were tucked away in the woods a bit, but were within close distance to the park entrance, restaurants and a store. It was so nice to have such a comfortable place to stay after a long day hiking and exploring Yosemite.

We loved the kitchen (packed with everything we needed to prepare meals--including modern appliances and a BBQ grill!) the fireplace, the comfortable sleeping accommodations, the Roku, the board games and all of the Yosemite books! (We especially dug the morbid volume all about the deaths in the park over the years.) We also really appreciated that all of the linens for the beds were available and that there was plenty of soap, cleaning products and paper products.

Brian was so great! He was so nice and very easy to reach for questions. I would recommend this place in a second to anyone looking for the perfect Yosemite travel experience.

Good location and quiet neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

Spent three night here. The house is located close to the entrance to the Yosemite Nat'l Park. The place is spacious and the owner is quick to respond. It is a bit of drive to the valley, but it is not too bad. There is one queen size bed, but there are a couple of air mattresses for additional people. The kitchen has most stuff except salt & coffee, so bring those. The bathroom does not have shampoo or conditioner, so bring those as well. The thermostat controlled gas fireplace is very nice to heat the space. We found some dead bugs on the floor when we arrived, so we had to vacuum. Other than that, everything was fine. Buy everything at Oakhurst and fill up gas there as the gas is expensive at the park or on the way to the park. There isn't much going on at Fish Camp. It is a nice/quiet town.

Nice kitchen. Sleeps 2, not 4

  • 3 of 5

The cabin is very close to the south entrance and is nice inside. The kitchen is very well equipped. The cabin is very close to the neighbors and their dogs barked constantly. The owner has a nice TV and a Roku for your use. There is only a love seat as opposed to a sofa. The fireplace is a gas heater. You have to adjust the cabin thermostat to get it to turn on. It is not really a fireplace. The shower is not great - it leaked, the shower curtain was torn, and the pressure felt like needles.

The cabin is good for a couple, but would not sleep 4 comfortably as advertised. I would rate this 4-5 stars if the cabin was advertised and priced to sleep 2. The only place to sleep 2 other people would be on the floor right outside the bedroom door; however, the bedroom is not private with glass French doors.

If you are a couple who likes to cook, want to be close to the south entrance, and don’t mind neighbors close by - this cabin is nice. If you need to sleep more than a couple, I would look elsewhere.

Owner's Response: Our future guests look no further than our over one hundred five star reviews from families and couples alike over the past several years to know how wonderful this property is. Unfortunately, this guest review is misleading and even untrue!!! The guest booked the cabin for only two people, never told us about additional guests, so we prepared the cabin for two people instead of four. The fireplace is a real gas fire place with real flames. This enables our guest, after a long day skiing or hiking, to turn on the fireplace with the push of a button instead of carrying firewood and starting a fire. Again all the guest had to do was push the button to start the fireplace. We would have been more than happy to explain to our guests had they asked. As for the sofa, it is the exact same sofa that is in the pictures on the site - not sure why the criticism. Fish Camp is somewhat like the beach in that land is extraordinarily expensive - many properties are beginning to push the million $ mark. As such very few people actually live in Fish Camp, nearly all the cabins are vacation rentals, and all the lots are small. Our property is distinguished by the service we offer our guests. I spoke with the guest as he was checking out and he said they had a wonderful time. He told me there was a drip in the shower which we immediately replaced prior to our next several guests. Had we been told about any issues, day or night, we would have immediately rectified them for our valued guests. We take great responsibility in our guests entrusting us with their vacations to experience Yosemite and create lasting memories - that is why we go above beyond any other accommodations in the area. Sincerely, Brian

Very close to the south entrance to Yosemite

  • 4 of 5

Good location. Had everything you need to cook a decent meal. I would stop at Von’s in Oakhurst on the way in to stock up on food because the little General Store close by the cabin doesn’t have much. Not sure if this cabin has air conditioning, so I would check the temperature predictions before booking.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review - we enjoyed having you stay and you are always welcome at the cabin. Yes we do have an air conditioner in the cabin for our guests. Since the cabin is nestled in the forest at the 5000 foot elevation the temperatures are in the low sixties during the summer nights and naturally keep the cabin cool throughout the day.

Sweet cottage

  • 4 of 5

The accommodations were nice. The cottage had everything you need for a short stay. The furnishings were very cute. I did not like the shower set up...felt claustrophobic. Need to get groceries before you get to Yosemite area. We drove in from San Francisco area and bought some provisions with us. The grocery stores in the park are expensive. There is a Von’s Grocery store is 25 minutes away from the cottage. But, the cottage is close to the Southern entrance to the park.
