This is a huge one bedroom apartment by modern French standards. Most apartments of 130 square meters (1,400 square feet) have long ago been “remodeled” into 2 or 3 or even 4 bedroom apartments. This apartment has preserved all of the proportions and decorations (moldings, windows) that were in place 150 years ago; only the kitchen and bathroom (salle des bains) have been modernized to a size and functionally that Americans expect.
The building is not a huge one: There are 6 floors (including ground floor) in typical Haussmann style, with 8 owners. The apartment is ½ of the third floor, so it is quiet and private.
•All the floors are the original oak herringbone,
•There are three beautiful marble fireplaces with huge mirrors,
•The living room has a comfortable convertible leather sofa, another sofa, three comfortable chairs, a coffee table (all by Roche Bobois), and a flat-screen 3-D TV with cable and DVD, and sound system,
•The tiled bathroom (salle des bains) has a large, fixed rain shower — no tub to contort into,
•A combination washer/dryer in the laundry room is also available,
•Ample dishes and serving implements are available for entertaining,
•The dining room has a Roche-Bobois dining table that seats 6 - 8. As in the living room, large beautiful French windows look out to the tree-lined boulevard,
•The eat-in gourmet kitchen has a table and chairs and top appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, large refrigerator, espresso maker, mixer.... in short, every accoutrement needed for cooking that special French meal after shopping at the open air markets is available.
•The air-conditioned bedroom is large with a queen size bed, night stands, and luxurious linens. There is a marble fireplace with mirror and a large window that opens to the street below.
•In the bedroom, a large armoire with hangers and selves plus drawers is available for your use.
•The bedroom also has a reading chair, a writing desk, and a CD/radio
•There is an office area in the entry hallway where the phone, printer, and internet are located. Plug in your iPad or computer and you’re connected to the world -- no need to work from the bed or couch.
Upon your arrival you will be met by a fluent English/French speaking Parisian liaison who will give you your keys, explain how the building operates, make sure you’re settled in OK, and answer any questions you may have. In addition to receiving a detailed information pack well before you arrive, our liaison is available to help you with any of those unexpected “challenges” that can occur when vacationing abroad.

Why Eric Hartwig chose Invalides
We began vacationing in France 20 years ago and it was love at first sight. After ten years of exploring the country we decided that we needed a home base in Paris. We searched for three years and were surprised to learn how many apartments had been subdivided into tiny rooms and had miniscule kitchens. We finally found the ideal apartment in the ideal location, and we're sure you'll find it a terrific place to welcome friends during your sojourn in Paris.
What makes this Apartment unique
This apartment couldn't be better located. It is truly steps from some of the most jaw-dropping sights in Paris, yet it is not inundated with tourists. Situated in the quieter Left Bank, it is still easy walking distance to the excitement and shopping of the Right Bank. With the metro, bus, and RER right outside your door, all of Paris and the surrounding countryside are literally at your feet.
Marvelous decor. Very comfortable.
All the necessary utilities incl. washer/drier., cooking/dining utensils, linens. Unlimited phone for France and USA (perhaps elsewhere?) Metro stop across the street. Bus stop out the door.
Delightful caretakers, Esther and Jean Philip. Grocery store a few blocks away. Pharmacy. Decent café, Cafe Mucha, a few short blocks. away. Musée d'Orsay a few blocks away - an easy walk. Our only problem was I can't take the metro. So we had to take taxis most places. But they are very easy to get.
We enjoyed the apartment thoroughly.
The Absolute Best
Wonderful apartment, we loved its spaciousness. Perfectly located, in walking distance from le Musée de L'orangerie, the Louvre, 5 minutes from the Musée D'Orsay. Lovely sunny kitchen, so well appointed. We had many dinners at home. The owner, Eric is a very responsive and attentive person. We really appreciated the booklet with useful information regarding shops, restaurants, bakeries, etc in the area. The managers Esther and Jean-Phillipe were the most helpful and friendly, it was a pleasure to know them.
We loved our stay in this property and are highly recommending it.
Fabulous! Like out of the movies!!
Apartment in a wonderful location!
Couldn't be better!! A dream vacation!
Paris at Your Doorstep
The Hartwig apartment could not be better located in the heart of Paris steps away from the River Seine, across the street from a metro stop, and within walking distance to many major Paris attractions including the amazing Musee d'orsay. The apartment is on the third floor of a stately building that offers excellent security, an elevator, and plenty of room to enjoy your stay in Paris. We enjoyed having the use of a washer/dryer that allowed us to pack lighter, and the apartment has a very nice eat in kitchen along with a full dining room for those with friends and family in the City. We especially enjoyed the large living room with tall windows and beautiful furnishings. I can not imagine a nicer home away from home, and am already thinking about another trip to Paris. The apartment is really wonderful and we are very happy to recommend it.
Wonderful apartment in a terrific location
My husband and I loved being at this wonderful apartment! The furnishings and the architecture were delightful. We were so comfortable that we found ourselves anxious to come home from exploring Paris to settle into our nest. The location was perfect and the Metro was a half block away. We loved opening the big blue door, walking into the elegant vestibule and entering the marble walled space of the stairwell. Everything we needed was there and more. It is a gorgeous property and truly elevated our time in Paris. We are looking forward to coming back!
Live Like a Parisian
After a long flight and train ride, the blue doors of this apartment building was such a welcome sight. The metro station is right across the street, and Stephane was there to greet us.
The spaciousness of the apartment, mentioned by others here, was a pleasant surprise. The bath and kitchen are modern, while preserving the architectural detail. We didn't mind using the stairwell, but there were a few times when the elevator was a welcome alternative.
We became regulars at the sidewalk cafe across the street. We also enjoyed shopping at locally owned stores in the neighborhood. The metro gave us easy access to all Paris has to offer, while the Seine was a short walk away.
The owners and Stephane were always available to help. I hope we can stay here again.
