Essex House Sedona - Hydro pool, Outdoor Shower, Chef's Kitchen, Game Room
THE ESSEX HOUSE SEDONA OVERVIEW Check out ig@essexhousesedona
Essex House Sedona is a design-forward desert retreat created for relaxing, reconnecting and exploring the Red Rocks. Carroll Canyon Trailhead is just a few blocks away, while restaurants, shops and many of Sedona’s best-known trails are only minutes from the house.
The fully fenced private backyard is the heart of the property, with a 17-foot HydroPool, outdoor shower, fire pit surrounded by Adirondack chairs, large dining deck, grill, lounge area, tetherball and life-size Connect 4. We even provide the s’mores supplies.
Inside, original art, collected vintage pieces and warm desert-modern design make Essex House feel very different from a typical vacation rental. The open great room features a vintage brass Malm fireplace, dining area and an exceptionally well-stocked chef’s kitchen. And yes, Pricilla — our seven-foot pink dinosaur — is part of the experience.
HYDROPOOL + OUTDOOR LIVING The private 17-foot HydroPool combines the features of a small pool and spa, with resistance jets for swimming in place. Its normal resting temperature is approximately 85–95°F and it can be heated to spa temperature up to 104°F.
The backyard also includes an outdoor shower, fire pit, dining deck, grill, tetherball set, and Pricilla, our pink dinosaur, and has plenty of space to relax after a day on the trails.
The HydroPool is professionally serviced twice weekly. The technician accesses the backyard through the locked side gate and is typically onsite for approximately 15–20 minutes. Spa-temperature heating up to 104°F is available for $50/night, or $200 total for stays of four nights or longer within a week. Please request spa heat at least 48 hours before arrival.
****NOTE**** This hydro pool heating fee is currently being waived while construction is underway behind Essex House.
Please shower before entering the HydroPool and follow the posted care and safety rules. Extraordinary cleaning or draining caused by guest use may result in a $250 charge.
GAME ROOM The separate game room is designed for both kids and adults, with retro video games, board games, art supplies, a drawer of curiosities, a hanging chair, a hat-lending library, Smart TV with Sonos soundbar, mini fridge and a queen memory-foam sleeper sectional. You’ll also find yoga mats, weights and a foot and lower-leg massager — especially nice after a long Sedona hike — plus spa towels and a towel warmer.
BEDROOMS + BATHROOMS Primary suite — Queen bed, Smart TV + private ensuite bathroom with oversized shower Bedroom 2 — Queen bed + Smart TV Bedroom 3 — Two twin beds Game room — Queen memory-foam sleeper sofa A second full bathroom is shared by Bedrooms 2 and 3 and guests using the game-room sleeper sofa. Pack ’n Play and high chair available. Maximum occupancy is 8 guests.
CHEF’S KITCHEN If you enjoy cooking, this is not the typical minimally stocked vacation-rental kitchen. You’ll find quality cookware and bakeware plus an air fryer, Instant Pot, Crock-Pot, blender, electric kettle, espresso machine with milk frother, drip coffee maker, French press and Moka pot. We provide ground coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sugar, olive oil, salt, pepper and a generous selection of spices. Check what’s already here before grocery shopping — you may need less than you think.
LOCATION + SEDONA EXTRAS Carroll Canyon Trailhead is just a few blocks away, connecting to miles of hiking and mountain-biking trails. Essex House is also convenient to restaurants, shopping and the rest of Sedona. Guests receive our digital Sedona guidebook filled with our favorite hikes, restaurants and things to do, plus short videos explaining how things work at the house. We also provide a Red Rock Pass for use during your stay, covering the $5 parking fee at participating trailheads.

Everything about this property is spectacular. The interior design is stunning, The amenities and how fully stocked the home was when we arrived was both appreciated and a lovely surprise. I’d highly recommend the house to anyone who come to Sedona, it’s pure perfection
As a girl scout troop with five very active girls and two adults, this Vrbo not only was pleasing appearance wise but literally has everything. Us girls were very pleased, although in one of the main bedrooms had a pair of stail and smelly pants still in the dresser. Other than that we had an amazing stay. Also hot tub for the win!
Essex House was fantastic! I've never stayed at a home quite as unique ( the decor and vibe is great), comfortable, very clean, and with EVERYTHING you could possibly want or need available. Maile has thought of everything. The check in-out process was very smooth and the communication wonderful. Love the added bonus of the APP that accompanies this stay it was so helpful for the house as well as things to do in Sedona. I highly highly recommend! Michelle E
Host was super friendly & kind and the property was great! Stayed for a weekend and everything was perfect. I’m used to sleeping with a fan and didn’t realize that the master didn’t have a ceiling fan- the house was so well appointmented that even was a non issue as there was 2 extra portable fans in the home. Loved the second living area downstairs and the backyard/patio/deck also. Thanks for the great stay!
Do you remember those puzzles when you were a kid where you had to find hidden objects? That is what this property feels like - in a good way! From troves of whimsical decorations to every conceivable kitchen tool, our four-day stop was filled with pleasant discoveries. Plus an extremely communicative host. Highly, highly recommended.
Hot tub / sauna pool was the perfect temp to be able to sit in it for awhile, not the standard hot temperature but that was great for us. Awesome guide book for popular places to visit and a parking pass to borrower for trails and hikes. The shuttle is every hour and it's a bit of a walk so that wasn't as convenient as we hoped but it was nice to have as an option. The house itself was great. Super cute and cozy. Outside was also really nice. We didn't have our kids for this trip but i would bring them to stay here.
This property is beautiful and they provide so many amenities. We were there for a girls trip but I will definitely return with my family. So much to do, and it’s so comfy you don’t want to leave.
Hospitality is in my blood. I grew up in a hospitality family, with my grandparents building one of the first resorts back home in Fiji. Inspired by this family history, I studied Hotel & Restaurant Management at Les Roches in Switzerland, and have spent much of my life traveling the world, with visits to 71 countries so far.
I’m also an interior designer, and an artist, and Essex House Sedona brings all of those influences together — thoughtful hospitality, collected art, playful design and the little details that make a stay memorable.
Why they chose this property
Why did I chose this neighborhood? Short answer: this house was the only one I could afford after my divorce. It was a total fixer upper. I took it down to studs and worked on the remodel myself, over a 9 month period, with the help of an old contractor friend. I now know how to install kitchens, bathrooms, tile and flooring. The results, and the reviews, speak for themselves.
Essex House Sedona also happens to be in a great neighborhood. It is quiet and still close to everything. You can even see a bit of Thunder Mountain from the backyard deck.
What makes this property unique
Essex House Sedona is filled with wonder and interesting treasures from my world travels. As an artist, and an interior designer, I am a big collector of unusual finds. There is even a "curiosity drawer" and guests tell me how much they love exploring and discovering the different treasures that are found throughout the house. We supply everything from a sunhat lending library, to a towel warmer for your spa towels, to a lower leg massager to help after a long day of hiking.
Because I went to Swiss Hotel Management school, my kitchen is STOCKED. You will pretty much find everything you need to make a meal. My personal pet peeve with other vacation rentals is when they only have dull knives, scratched up pots and pans, and zero spices in stock. I make sure that my kitchen has everything to even make a Thanksgiving feast, or even a Margarita shin-dig, as there is an electric juicer for your cocktails after a hot day of hiking.
I also send out a digital guidebook by text message to all of my guests. The guidebook is filled with all of my favorite things to see, do, and eat in Sedona, as well as house info, such as how to work the espresso machine, or the hydro-pool. There is even a section about where I scoured my decor and furniture at the house, along with artist info for each piece of original art.
Most of my guests tell me that Essex House Sedona is the best vacation rental they have ever stayed in. I love delighting my guests and providing exceptional hospitality.
