Stowe is an original log cabin that's been brought forward without losing what made it worth keeping. White-painted exposed logs, a wraparound deck with string lights, an electric fireplace anchoring the main floor — it's the cabin that feels most like a cabin, and that's exactly the point.
Named for Harriet Beecher Stowe — who paid close attention to the world around her and understood that the most important things happen when people are present with each other — it's one of four cabins at Notestone Reserve, our family-owned 14-acre property in Laurelville.
⭐ What You'll Love • The wraparound deck — string lights, wooded views, nowhere to be • Electric fireplace on the main floor for the nights that call for it • Covered hot tub off the lower level, ready in any weather • Fire pit that earns its keep once the sun goes down • The shared game room just a short walk across the property — pool table, arcade, 85" TV, and more
🌲 Outside • Wraparound deck with string lights and wooded views • Fire pit • Personal hot tub off the lower level — covered, so it works in any weather • Propane grill with tools
🏠 Sleeping • Loft: king bed • Main floor: king bedroom • Lower level: queen bedroom • Pack 'n play available on site — just give us a heads up. Sheets not included, so bring your own if needed.
🍳 Kitchen & Living The kitchen has its own space — fully equipped with everything you need to cook a real meal. The main floor opens into a living and dining area with an electric fireplace, dining table, and a conversation corner worth settling into. Bluetooth speaker on the main floor. • A heads up: no garbage disposal or dishwasher. • Kitchen stocked with the basics to get you started — salt, pepper, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, foil, and cooking spray.
🚿 Bathrooms Two full bathrooms with showers — one on the main floor, one on the lower level.
🎮 Lower Level • Queen bedroom • Living area with 65" Smart TV • Arcade machine • Game table
🐾 Dogs Welcome Up to 2 dogs allowed per stay. One crate is provided. Dogs must remain leashed on the property and off the furniture. A $100 pet fee applies per stay.
🏡 The Shared Game Room Open to every Notestone guest, just a short walk across the property: • 85" Smart TV • Pool table • Foosball • Basketball arcade • Classic arcade machines and a racing game • Legos, card and board games, indoor cornhole • Plus an outdoor playground for the kids (big and small)
🧴 What's Here When You Arrive Every bathroom comes stocked with the good stuff — shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and lotion. One less thing to remember when you're packing for the weekend.
We provide a starter kit of the essentials — 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, a roll of paper towels, a kitchen sponge, and trash liners. We recommend bringing a little extra just in case.
🗺️ What's Nearby Notestone Reserve sits in the heart of the Hocking Hills, close enough to hit two or three trails in a day and still be back in time for the fire pit.
Rock House — 7 minutes Conkle's Hollow — 15 minutes Old Man's Cave — 20 minutes Ash Cave — 26 minutes
Cedar Falls, Cantwell Cliffs, and the rest of the state park system are all within a short drive as well.
📶 About the WiFi We offer Starlink satellite internet. In general it holds up well — most guests have no trouble streaming movies or music without issue. That said, satellite internet is a different animal than what you're used to at home. Video calls and long phone calls can cut out from time to time, especially on cloudy days when the router is working harder to find its signal. We'd rather tell you upfront than have you find out mid-Zoom. If you're planning to work remotely during your stay, it can work — just plan for the occasional hiccup.
🌿 A Note on the Setting We're in a wooded area, and while we stay on top of regular pest control, the occasional ladybug or curious spider showing up is just nature doing its thing.
📋 A Few Things to Note We're a small, family-owned operation, and keeping Notestone calm and well-kept is a group effort. A few things we ask: • No parties or events, including bachelor/bachelorette groups. And no glitter — it never, ever goes away. • Only registered guests on the property • No smoking, vaping, fireworks, ATVs, hunting, or weapons • No commercial photography or videography without written approval • Hot tub: use the striped towels provided and keep the cover on between soaks • Septic-safe: flush toilet paper only; no garbage disposal at the sink • Under normal conditions, our driveways are accessible in just about any vehicle. We are located on back country roads, for that we recommend four wheel drive or all wheel drive during winter months when ice and snow are a factor. The driveway to Stowe is typically accessible in the winter months without needing 4WD/AWD.
Check-in: 4:00 PM / Check-out: 11:00 AM

This 6-person cabin was perfect for our twins getaway. We were in nature, close to all of our hiking and it had an awesome game room. Communication from owners/management was prompt and they were quick to answer all questions or address any issues that came up during our stay. Definitely recommend!
Absolutely wonderful property! All that is described and more!! We had a very comfortable stay. Clean, accommodating to pets, and lots of fun activities in the cabin and community center for the whole family! Highly recommend!
Our stay at the Stowe cabin was wonderful. Our kids absolutely loved the game room and hot tub. It was very spacious and clean. We grilled on the deck several nights which was super convenient. Beautiful scenery! We would definitely come again.

We loved it here!
We had such a wonderful stay! Stowe was very quaint and comfortable for our family of four, with charm and attention to detail throughout. It felt perfectly secluded, like we were truly away from it all, which made it so relaxing and peaceful. The game room was also a huge highlight for the whole family. The host, Stacey, was fantastic - very responsive, proactive, and accommodating. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, private getaway.
The best cabin we’ve ever stayed in hands down. Everything is thoughtfully and beautifully put together for your stay with plenty of games and things to do. We only wish we would have booked a longer stay!
Our stay at Stowe was amazing! The cabin is exactly as described. Everything we needed for our stay was available! The kitchen was fully stocked for cooking in and enjoying time with family! We also enjoyed our time in the Community Room! Will definitely visit again in the future!
We had a lovely stay here and would highly recommend. The cabin was so cozy and clean; and the beds were very comfortable. The playground and community room were a bonus! The host was great at communicating as well!
Stowe was the perfect place for a weekend trip with our adult children and our dogs. Peaceful with great views, and close to hiking trails. We will definitely be back!
Kids had an amazing time in the game room it was spacious super clean when we walked in with everything we needed for our two night stay. It was kind of cold but We still got a nice fire going with the provided firewood. Hot tub was a nice touch. we will definitely be coming back in the future.
This property is stunning! It was like a luxury hotel stay. The owners thought of every little detail needed. It is secluded - we loved sitting in the hot tub that was covered because we had both rain and snow. The games in the basement were fun! We loved that the property had lit signs to note which cabin you are staying in. The house was cozy and beds were very comfortable. We will come again and recommend to everyone looking for a weekend get away!
The property was very clean and well decorated. The beds were comfortable and the views were spectacular. The kids had so much fun in the communal gaming area as well!

Awesome to hear everything was great! We hope you’ll be back!
If you look at this place for a trip don’t hesitate to book it! It is beautiful and location is amazing. The Host was in contact in a very timely manor for everything. We had a snow storm when we got there and we were the only booking at the whole site for the weekend. The property manager/maintenance man went above and beyond to accommodate us with snow removal! BOOK it! You won’t regret it. We will be back

Great Family Getaway
We booked this for our young family for a midweek getaway. It was perfect for what we needed. Clean, comfortable and great location. The game room was great for the kids and the fire pit was amazing for s’mores in the evening. We will definitely be back.
Great stay! Beautiful space and accomodations. The only complaint I have is that the wifi is not good in the basement. This caused issues when trying to use certain streaming services as well as with phones and gaming devices. Also, it can be difficult to get to in the snow - especially if you don't have 4 wheel drive. We found Clapper Hollow was the best route.Definitely coming back!
The Stowe cabin was awesome. Everything was very clean and well maintained. My kids loved the hot tub, and the arcade games. We went to the common game room several nights to play before kid's bed time. I loved the attention to detail and anticipation of guests needs, even for our dog. Overall a lovely stay, we hope to be back!

Perfect cabin in the woods
This cabin is everything I had hoped for and more! Nestled back in the woods, it is private but not isolated. There were others in the neighborhood but none too close that it felt I couldn’t relax and have privacy. Working with Stacey was fabulous! The cabin is well stocked with everything you may need from a great selection of games to all the kitchen items needed to cook a full family meal. I would come back in a heartbeat!
We had an amazing stay at the Stowe. All the personal touches and little extras were great! The place was exactly as it was shown and described. Working with Stacey was so convenient. Her quick response to any of my questions was appreciated. Having the community center so close was an extra bonus. We loved playing pool, shooting basketballs, enjoying all the modern games, etc. Our whole stay was so relaxing!
What great accommodations at Notestone! this was a last minute family trip to reward the family with a great school year. Everything and I mean, everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be returning customers. Do not hesitate to book this property. You will not be disappointed I would give six stars if possible.
My family had the best time! The cabin is beautiful and provided such a luxury experience. All the extras were so appreciated and enjoyed. We brought our dog and even she felt spoiled. My kids were very happy with the arcade machine and game room. Thank you to Stacey!!!!

A refreshing getaway
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. There were 6 of us and we had plants of room. The kitchen was stocked with anything you need to cook, it was very clean and cozy. The rec room was spacious and well designed. You’ll never get bored here! We hope to come again and for a bit longer :)
The Notestone Stowe rental was very clean, probably the cleanest VRBO we've ever stayed at. The beds were very comfortable, and the house was stocked with every thing you could think of and more. The community game room was very nice and the kids loved spending time there playing games. The hot tub was clean. Overall a 5-star experience. Would recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Stacey
Hi, I'm Stacey — one of the founders of Notestone Reserve, and the person who's been hands-on in shaping every space on the property.
Restoration is something I think about a lot. The idea that something with potential can become something worth keeping — that broken pieces, arranged with care, can turn into something magnificent. Stained glass works that way. So does Notestone.
This property started as a vision and a lot of hard work. What it is now — ten units across 14 acres in the heart of Hocking Hills, each one named for a writer who paid attention to the world around them — is the result of believing that where you rest matters.
Every detail reflects what I personally look for when I travel: comfort without pretense, nature without roughing it. The kind of place where memories get made without trying — and you leave with a story worth telling.
I'm proud of what we've built. And I'd love to have you here.
Welcome to Notestone.
What makes this property unique
Stowe is an original log cabin — white-painted exposed logs, a wraparound deck with string lights, and an electric fireplace that makes the main floor feel like exactly where you should be. Two king bedrooms, a lower level queen, a full kitchen, covered hot tub, and a fire pit. The kind of cabin that earns the word.
As a Notestone Reserve guest you'll also have access to our shared community game room — pool table, basketball arcade, classic arcade machines, and a TV lounge. Most nights it's all yours. It's the kind of bonus that turns a rainy afternoon into the highlight of the trip.
Notestone Reserve sits in Laurelville, right in the heart of Hocking Hills. The waterfalls, caves, and trails that make this region worth the drive are all a short drive away — and after a day out there, a wraparound deck and a fire pit feel exactly right.
