About Dorelle Ackermann

We are retired school teachers from Illinois and have enjoyed skiing in Summit County since the late 1970's. We never tire of biking the beautiful paved biking paths in the summer although the mountain bike trails have humbled us. We especially enjoy the Frisco community where people love the outdoors and remain friendly to tourists.

Dorelle Ackermann purchased this house in 1990

Why Dorelle Ackermann chose Northwest

Summit county is an ideal, year round vacation area. Locals say that tourists come for the skiing and stay for the summers which is exactly what I did. Ski resorts make ideal vacation locations for summers because they have an abundance of lodging so summer rental rates are more reasonable than areas that depend on summer rentals exclusively.

If you want to stay active in the 'dog days of summer' the low humidity and temperatures in the 70's are perfect. In addition, ski resorts want summer business so they have music concerts, golfing, mountain biking, hiking to attract visitors.

What makes this house unique

Frisco is centrally located and therefore preferable to staying at a ski resort. This allows you to ski various mountains during your stay and is considerably less expensive. Check the rates at Copper Mountain and you'll see what I mean. In addition, Frisco has the charm of a friendly small town. When I lost my wallet on the paved bike path to Copper Mt., someone found it and placed an ad in the local paper to find me. Numerous local businesses saw it and told me.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I hope you enjoyed your stay in my home and Summit County. I'd love to hear your comments both positive and negative so that I can maintain my home as comfortable for you as possible. Also, I'd love to hear what are your favorite restaurants, trails and activities.

Great Place for Frisco in the Fall!

  • 5 of 5

Our second stay at this Mountain Side home - Very comfortable and a great place to kick back and enjoy the Fall colors and the town of Frisco as well as surrounding Summit County - Very quite neighborhood - A great experience all-around - Ranks right at the top of the many rentals we have visited through the years.

Wonderful Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

This stay was awesome. The place was as advertised, with plenty of room. The kitchen had every utensil you would need. And it is close to all the outdoor activities you would want. If you want an awesome place to relax after sampling the many activities in and around Frisco, this is the place for you.

The owner responded quickly to each and every one of our inquiries. We certainly had to get some things to make our stay awesome, but since we had to buy food anyway, it was not a problem at all. And we really appreciated that the house had a vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, and laundry facilities.

Come to this house (as you would almost any owner-let place) and treat it like your own. The owners have most definitely put a lot of love and care into the house and it is a very suitable home away from home.

This is definitely what I have come to expect in excellent lodging found on VRBO.

Great, roomy house in convenient location!

  • 5 of 5

The owner was very responsive and considerate to our last-minute request. We stayed for a long weekend and it was perfect. Plenty of room and beds for everyone, in a great neighborhood, and close to town and the resorts. We definitely would consider staying here again.

Super comfy and awesome stay overall!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin. There was plenty of room, the club house was an awesome feature, and it was nice and cozy indoors while it stormed outside. In addition, there were awesome trails not too far away from the house that we did some fun trail runs on. We did feel that it wasn't very well stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms and we had trouble turning on the fireplace. Also, we weren't quite sure how to heat the basement, as it was very chilly when we got there. Overall, we were so thankful for such a reasonable price and comfy house! Thank you so so much for letting us stay at your home.

Owner's Response: We too love Mountainside with its location right off the paved bike path joining Breckenridge to Copper Mountain and seemingly endless trails in the national forest which can be accessed directly behind my home. Guests, please let me know if paper supplies are not adequate upon arrival, so I can address that issue with housekeeping. I have an electric fireplace in the lower level to warm it up. Since the home has 4 levels it can be comfortable on the main level, yet chilly downstairs (especially if the gas fireplace is on in the main area). The gas fireplace turns on with a flip of a switch (explained in the confirmation), however.... when wind blows out the pilot, I agree it is tricky to relight. Therefore, I have posted lighting directions and included directions in the confirmation but I will pay to have my maintenance man come out to relight the fireplace. Nothing beats a cozy fire on a cold night with the mountains in view. My goal is to continue to provide a 5 star accommodation at a reasonable price.
