Positives: ~~~ The best all-around location on the Central Coast. ~~~ Spectacular, panoramic ocean and white-water views. ~~~ Unobstructed views of the hills, Cayucos’ historic cemetery, and Highway One. ~~~ Large, comfortable, spacious 2,800 sq. ft. house. (Average 3-bedroom beach house is about 1,500 sq.) ~~~ Three-minute walk from door knob to toes in the water! (9 houses) ~~~ Duel outdoor showers. ~~~ Ample parking! 2-car garage and long, brick drive. ~~~ Large, 3 BR/3 bath house, not a condo, bungalow, motel room, or typical small beach house. It can handle several families easily. ~~~ Elevator for moving luggage and tired bodies up & down. ~~~ Wet Suits of varying sizes & boogie boards. ~~~ [Click on the blue "More Details" just below to read the negatives.]

Negatives: ~~~ Road noise and the steepness of our driveway has been mentioned in a couple of reviews. Those were truthful reviews and not done to hurt us but only to give honest info to future guests. Our driveway is long and steep but very manageable. On the plus side its length does allow more parking than possible at most houses. It’s important to keep in mind that there is very limited off-street parking in our small beach town. It’s possible to park up ten cars in our garage, turn-around, and driveway. ~~~ We’re concerned that just the mere mention of road noise gives it weight beyond what’s appropriate or intended. Our house has an estimated value of $2,230,015 on Zillow and $2,155,368 on Trulia (11-21-17). That’s more than double the value of most three-bedroom Cayucos homes listed on VRBO that aren’t ocean front. Our reason for mentioning market value is to make the point that when all things are considered, such as proximity to the beach, Highway One, and views associated with the house’s location, our beach house has a very high value. It’s not a mansion, and we wouldn’t want any guest expecting one; it's just a nice, large, spacious house that just happens to have the proverbial “million-dollar views.” While road noise is considered in the value of our home, it’s clearly overshadowed by the home’s positives. Yes, there is road noise, but it’s minimized by our sitting up on a small hill. Some noise does climb up the hill and will be noticeable, especially when outdoors on the highway side of the property. Our highway is NOT a LA freeway, but when a loud motorcycle comes by, you will hear it, but that’s true for any house close to the highway. So please, if you stay with us and write a review, don’t mark us down for things beyond our control. If you’re overly sensitive to noise, rather than write a bad review, we’d prefer you not rent our house. We can’t move it or ban motorcycles from the highway. We have addressed the issue in depth and at the beginning of the property’s description because we don’t want anyone saying they were not warned and it came as a surprise. We spend a lot of time at our beach house doing deep cleaning, maintenance, and remodeling, and we bought the home for retirement, so we are definitely aware of the positives and negatives associated with our highway. For us, we truly consider the road noise a wash. We have coffee and wine on all the decks depending on the time of day and where the sun is. When you’re on the highway side you will occasionally have conversation interrupted while you wait for a loud vehicle to pass, but watching the flow of life below and watching the surf roll in is an acceptable tradeoff for us, but it will not be for everyone. At night we particularly enjoy watching the cars lights moving ghostlike around the hills on their way to Morro Bay or Cambria. If God said we could get rid of the noise by removing the highway, my wife of fifty-one years and I both agree the answer would be, “Thanks, but we’ll keep the highway.” As stated, we enjoy watching the world pass by because it’s a little like people watching at a mall. Their talking can be loud and there might be some yelling, but it’s still enjoyable. We also like the easy access when going somewhere.

This beach house has been secret service approved when a congressman’s family picked it for their vacation. You’ll know why the moment you get out of the car and look back at the waves rolling in, and the views just get more spectacular from the second floor. Poised on the finger of a hill in such a manner you won’t see the cars on the street below when sitting in the living room, but you will see the wind moving the tree tops and watch the surf roll in. You’ll think you’re in a big tree house that has wall-to-wall windows from living room to dining room. From your perch you’ll be able to watch the kids run all the way to the state beach and watch them boogie board, fly kites, play in the water, or surf. White-water views and watching the sun rise above the hills in the east and sinking over the ocean on the west are just a small taste of the joys of this house. Wildlife is another. It is not unusual to see deer or turkeys on the hills to the north or sea otters, sea lions, or pods of jumping porpoises ... and yes, even breaching whales during their migrations. You can start your day with coffee on the deck watching the sun come up or the fog swirling around the hills and Morro Rock and over the water or end it with a glass of wine while you watch the sun go down over the ocean. Come and enjoy the simple pleasures that can only be truly savored in one of the last charming small coastal towns left in the nation … a charming small coastal town with near perfect year-round weather.

The state beach is just nine houses down 24th Street, about a three-minute walk, with an unobstructed view straight down the road all the way to the beach. That means you can sit on the deck and watch the kid's play at the beach, and when they get back from building sand castles, they can wash the sand off in twin outdoor showers. The BBQ chef can replenish their energy with great meals to get them ready for their next adventure.

Spacious accommodations for ten, and each room has its own flat screen TV. The master bedroom has a king bed, private bath, and its own private deck with stunning views of the ocean, hills and historical cemetery that dates to the founding of the town. The 2nd upstairs bedroom has a queen with its own bath and views of the hills. The super large downstairs bedroom also has its own bath and patio with great views of the breaking surf through double French doors. It sleeps six with a queen bed, double twins, and a queen futon. The rental comes with fully equipped kitchen and all linens.

Cayucos has location, location, location for great outings! Big Sur starts a few miles north, just as you pass Hearst Castle. Wine tasting in some of the best wine estates in all of California is just minutes away in any direction, including wine excursions on the bay. Antiquing, whale watching, visits to the elephant seal rookery at Piedras Blancas, touring the San Luis mission, or watching world-class performances at Cal Poly's Performing Arts Center all await you. You could even go shell collecting on the miles of beach that starts just a few feet from your door. From fine dining to shopping and everything in between, your family will create lifetime memories in our small town. Don’t take my word for it; take CNN’s who ranked Cayucos number one in the NATION as “America’s coolest small town”!

If you need the easy access that comes with single-story homes for a loved one, you don’t have to give up the views that come with a two-story home because this house has an elevator! You owe it to yourself and your family to at least spend a week with us. Customer loyalty speaks volumes; we have a very strong return rate with most summer visitors immediately booking for the next summer. We’re the best value on the market. Come and see why. We might be just what your family needs to have the best vacation ever.

***Be forewarned, the driveway is steeper than it looks. Cars do park on the steepest part, but you’ll definitely need to engage the parking brake and consider blocking the wheels. It's a small price to pay for the best all-around location and views in the area.

A beautiful and relaxing home

We were so happy and surprised to see that we had booked the perfect home for our stay! Nice upscale place with all the amenities. Easy walk to the beach and amazing views. We have stayed many times in Cayucos but this was super nice. Whale watching too! Thank you!

View from the top of Cayucos

A nice accommodation with great views and well equipped. The driveway is a little tricky and there is car noise from nearby Hwy 1 during the day.

The beach is a short walk away and very nice!

We will look at this spot for future visits to Cayucos!

We LOVE Cayucos!

This house's location is GREAT (minus the freeway noise, but still worth it)!

Such a quick walk to our favorite part of the beach. We absolutely LOVE Cayucos, and the house is cozy. Three master rooms is key when traveling with a group in my opinion.

Dishwasher works better when adding tablet to the bottom of the washer, not in the door compartment. We have this same line of appliances at home.. But that's another review to GE.. Ha!

Rental Co. super responsive and helpful when we needed laundry detergent :-)

Great Family Reunion Venue

Everything about the physical house was excellent. We had three couples and one grandchild during our three day stay. The layout of the house was perfect. The open floor plan from kitchen to dining room with huge table (seating for 10) to living room was great for family interaction. The separate downstairs area with large bedroom and bathroom allowed the granddaughter a quiet place for naps. The outside upper floor deck/patio is large with plenty of seating and a fantastic view of Morro Bay. The outside double shower with hot water was nice to rinse off sand from an afternoon on the beach which is only a short walk down the street. The driveway is very steep but we mostly used the level garage to keep the van which transported the whole group around during our stay (the downtown area with restaurants and shops is a few minutes drive but a little too far to walk).

The only downside at all was the noise from highway one. The house is located with this fairly busy and loud road right out back. This required us to keep the windows closed at night and use the more than adequate central air conditioning even though the outside temps were great for sleeping (upper 50s to low 60s). We used the fans present in the rooms for white noise. On the outside deck the noise from the highway masked the sound of the waves on the shore. This, in no way, diminished the enjoyment of our family gathering but it might if someone were looking for a quiet seaside retreat.

Homey, Beautiful, Relaxing

Our family of ten, ages 8 to 77, including teenagers, had a wonderful time with plenty of space for all. We had all of the conveniences of home with a beautiful view of the ocean and an easy 1 block walk to the public beach. We spent our mornings cooking breakfast in a beautiful kitchen with all of the very modern conveniences. Large refrigerator/freezer, electric stove, dishwasher, and eating at a dining table that seats 10 with an ocean view. Just bring your food or shop when you get there. There is a convenience store in town and a major grocery store 20 minutes away.The living room has a TV with plenty of seating, but the majority of our time was spent on the deck or at the beach. The large downstairs sleeps six and has a small library for all ages and has board games for everyone which was very convenient as it rained on the third day. We will be returning next year! Well worth the money for an enjoyable, relaxing "family time"!

Very Nice Vacation Rental

This is a very nice vacation rental, with pretty views and amenities. There was plenty of room for all six of us, and it was especially nice for each couple to have their own bathroom. We really enjoyed the beach and the nice little town of Cayucos. The location was also great for wine tasting in Paso Robles, and it was a pleasure to go back to the cool weather on the coast after the hot weather inland. Willie is a very helpful and gracious host as well, and was very quick to respond. We would definitely recommend this house to others, and would love to stay there again ourselves!
