You'll love the tranquil feeling you get when you see the 'million dollar' view this house has to offer! Spend days and nights gazing out over the Big Niangua arm of the Lake of the Ozarks and watching the boating and jetski activity, right from the privacy of your house.
This newly renovated 2 bedroom / 2 bath house is located at the Sugarloaf Vineyards west of Camdenton right where the Big Niangua tributary changes from a river to the Lake of the Ozarks. For larger groups we have a sister property next door that is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath and sleeps 6 to 10 people (VRBO listing 456932).
You'll be 'lured' to the Lake where the fishing is amazing for catfish, bass, crappie and walleye. Or play golf at either of two courses, Lake Valley Country club or Old Kinderhook (a Tom Weiskoph signature course). The master bedroom has a queen size bed, brand new flat screen TV, WIFI, and a picture perfect view of the Lake. The en-suite master bathroom has a walk-in shower and a washer/dryer. There is also a fold out futon in the Master bedroom for your kids or extra guest. The guest bedroom offers a queen bed and a flat screen TV.
The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, range, microwave and side bar for your favorite beverages. Ceilings are tongue and groove cedar milled from trees right off the property and give you that quaint, cabin-like and fresh smell of cedar! Enjoy dinners inside in the dining area or outside on the private patio amongst the grapevines so you don't miss the beautiful weather and wildlife! Or, walk to the vineyard tasting bar and enjoy a bottle of wine and unique food pairings as a lunch or dinner alternative.
The living room is spacious and outfitted with a new flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure and a DVD player for late night movies. There is a fold out couch for kids or extra guests in the living room.
One of the best features of this property is the easy access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Nestled within the vines of the Sugarloaf Vineyard property you can walk to the Lake shore and enjoy the picnic grounds, fishing, or kayaking activities. You have free access to 2 kayaks, singles or doubles, for the length of your stay (a $105.00 value) and can pack a nice picnic lunch and your favorite beverages to enjoy while leisurely paddling the Niangua! There is also a charcoal grill, a green egg and private patio located just behind the house.
No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!
Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 27 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward takes weekend breaks from his Computer Consulting career to tend to over 1000 grapevines on the property and looks forward each fall to harvest time.
Barb Morris purchased this house in 2000
This property is adjacent to Ward & Barb's home and was purchased to expand the vineyard and since May of 2013, the Sugarloaf Vineyard Tasting bar with food pairings, occasional music and great friends! Our motto has always been, 'come to our place and we'll treat you like family'!
We fell in love with the quiet of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the month February you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. This actually inspired the name of one of Sugarloaf Vineyards wines; the White Pelican, a dry white Chardonel. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. In March, you can spot beautiful red foxes siring their new pups and of course, several deer like to walk through the vineyard and eat Ward's grapes (to his chagrin)! It's a great family setting for renunions or to get away from the city.
My husband and I stayed at the Chardonel House located on the SugarLoaf Vineyard property. It is an adorable 2 bed/2 bath with a great living space and kitchen all while smelling like wonderful cedar. This house has it's own deck that you walk out patio, fire pit (with wood provided) , grill and beautiful views of the lake and the grapes right in your backyard! We were in town the weekend after July 4th and for that following week (8 nights total). During the week it was nice and quiet (I think we were the only ones on the property during the middle of the week). We took advantage of the free use of the kayaks, which was awesome! Grilled out several times, and enjoyed campfires with smores! My husband and I hiked at near by Ha Ha Tonka and Lake of the Ozarks State parks to enjoy the outdoors. It was perfect to get away from everything and just enjoy being together. We definitely love the atmosphere they have created here!
We love everything about the cabin and area. We didn’t get to enjoy the kayaks, because the weather didn’t cooperate but we’ll be back during the summer to try them out.
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at the cabin. The place is well stocked with kitchen dishes and all the cooking essentials and was able to cook a delicious meal. It was quaint and comfortable. I would love to come back and enjoy the outdoors on the patio with better weather.
Wishing the weather was better as it was colder than anticipated. But we enjoyed relaxing in the fabulous space!
Our host Barb was very responsive to our pre-trip questions and we found everything in order. Two nice bathrooms, comfortable house, and best of all, spacious grounds , which our 2 Springer Spaniels loved. Nice tile and hardwood floors, so it was easy to keep clean with dogs. I even got in a nice kayak run down the lake. Very unique place and close to town.
This was surprisingly great for us. My son has a condo just about five minutes away, so this was an ideal location!! Unfortunately we didn’t get to spend enough time here because we were at my son,s condo a lot. We took our shihtzu with us and it was just fine for him too. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay in Camdenton!
