Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)

The Norton House sits right on the Lake with a breathtaking view of the Big Niangua arm and features hardwood floors and a newly renovated kitchen with granite countertops, new flat screen televisions and free wi-fi. There are 3 bedrooms and 3.5 baths plus two additional queen roll-out sofas. All 3 bedrooms have queen beds.

Enjoy Sugarloaf Vineyards picnic grounds and kayaking, relax on the patio and watch the boating activity, grill your supper or eat out, then let the sound of nature lull you to sleep at night.

The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, range, microwave, dishwasher and side bar for your favorite beverages. Enjoy dinners inside in the dining area or outside on the patio so you don't miss the beautiful weather and wildlife! Or, there are several restaurants nearby from casual to fine dining.

In the interest of our guest's privacy we no longer are open to the public to serve wine and food. We have remodeled our previous wine tasting building to be an outdoor clubhouse for our rental guests to use. We no longer serve any food or wine to our rental house guests but you are welcome to bring your own food and beverages to the clubhouse to enjoy. We do have our Sugarloaf wines available for purchase if you like.

The Norton House is located at the Sugarloaf Vineyards west of Camdenton right where the Big Niangua tributary changes from a river to the Lake of the Ozarks. You'll be 'lured' to the Lake where the fishing is amazing for catfish, bass, crappie and walleye. Or play golf at either of two courses, Lake Valley Country club or Old Kinderhook (a Tom Weiskoph signature course).

One of the best features of this property and its sister rental, The Chardonel House, is the easy access to the Lake of the Ozarks. Nestled within the vines of the Sugarloaf Vineyard property you can walk to the Lake shore and enjoy the picnic grounds, fishing, or kayaking activities. You have free access to 2 kayaks, singles or tandems for the length of your stay and can pack a nice picnic lunch and your favorite beverages to enjoy while leisurely paddling the Niangua.

No matter what your perception of a perfect vacation is, you won't be disappointed with the relaxation and serene feeling you will have when you leave this refreshing property!

About Barb Morris

Owners are Ward & Barb Morris who moved to the Lake in 1985 and raised our 3 children in one of the most beautiful locales in the U.S.! Barb owned and operated several Lake area restaurants over the past 27 years and enjoys the fine art of cooking and especially, pairing food with wine! Ward takes weekend breaks from his Computer Consulting career to tend to over 1000 grapevines on the property and looks forward each fall to harvest time.

Barb Morris purchased this house in 2000

Why Barb Morris chose Camdenton

This property is adjacent to Ward & Barb's home and was purchased to expand the vineyard and develop the lakeshore picnic area.

What makes this house unique

We fell in love with the quiet of the Lake and especially the Niangua Arm tributary with it's amazing wildlife. During the months of February, March, October & November you can often spot as many as 700 great white Pelicans feeding on Lake fish for as long as 2 weeks as they migrate. This actually inspired the name of one of Sugarloaf Vineyards wines; the White Pelican, a dry white Chardonel. Other birdlife includes the great bald eagle, blue herons, egrets, seagulls, hawks, owls and host of other. In March, you can spot beautiful red foxes siring their new pups and of course, several deer like to walk through the vineyard and eat Ward's grapevines (to his chagrin)! It's a great family setting for reunions or to get away from the city.

Very nice home on beautiful lakefront

  • 5 of 5

We had a really wonderful girls weekend here. The highlight was our day out on the lake. Barb and Ward were accessible when we needed them. House was clean and well equipped. I would love to return with my family in the future.

Beautiful

  • 4 of 5

We had an amazing time at this location. The home was in great shape and the scenery was gorgeous. The kids loved the Kayaks and swimming on the matts. The location is great for going other places in Missouri and the owners were extremely nice and accommodating.

Thank you,

The perfect place to stay if you want a private and quiet area that’s also close to things!

  • 5 of 5

I was a little nervous as this was my first time ever booking through VRBO. But everything was perfect!! Barb and Ward answered every email right away, they were so helpful!! The property is beautiful! Very peaceful and quiet, just what we wanted! Yet it was close to attractions and great restaurants! Ha Ha Tonka State Park is amazing! Also highly recommend Montego Bay for boat rental. They were affordable and very laid back! We will definitely visit again, nothing but good things to say about our first trip to the Ozarks!

Beautiful and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at this house and loved it. We fished, and used the kayaks and paddle boat. The house was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We like that all three bedrooms had their own bathroom. It was a perfect place to unwind and relax surrounded by nature. Thanks for a wonderful time.

Great location. Close sctivities

  • 5 of 5

The house was perfect with baths in every bedroom. Quiet private location. We really enjoyed lake access and kayaks right there-easy walk down hill. Close to hiking in HaHa Tonka State Park. We could do many things without getting into crazy tourist traffic .

Owners helpful with any questions we had.
