About this property

Private, quiet home outside of busy La Fortuna, near hot springs!

Enjoy our beautiful vacation home for family & friend vacations. Just outside of La Fortuna in the exclusive neighborhood of La Palma, you will find a small enclave of private homes and the top spa resort destinations in all of Costa Rica. Our home sits at the base of the famous Arenal Volcano on a quiet paved road ten minutes outside of La Fortuna and ten minutes from Lake Arenal!

We are a perfect jumping off point for many activities in the area such as canyoning, hiking, kayaking, rafting, horseback riding, ziplining, fishing, boating, ATV tours, etc. Our management team can help you with planning these activities and more such as transportation, rental cars, and activities around the country.

Delvis is our manager and your concierge! He will arrange for any activities you'd like to do in our area, as well as assist you with travel around Costa Rica. We are an easy three hour drive from the Guanacaste beaches.

It's an easy drive to town for dining, shopping, and nightlife. Or, if you prefer to stay in, we have a fully equipped kitchen with markets close by.

We have our dining table located on our covered patio to enjoy the tropical air and sound of water trickling by in the river behind the house.

Enjoy a yoga practice on the patio, or a nap in one of the hammocks.

We have two wood rockers on the front porch for relaxing, reading, birdwatching, and enjoying a favorite beverage (we do all at the same time!).

We have two private bedrooms and a loft. Each bedroom has a new queen size bed. The loft area has two, new twin beds. Each bedroom has its own A/C. The loft has its own A/C. And the powerful A/C in the kitchen cools the kitchen and living room. We have full size washer and dryer. Please be mindful that electricity is very expensive so please set the A/C to a higher temp. Or OFF before heading out on your adventures for the day.

We have a Smart TV for watching Amazon and Netflix or any other subscriptions you may have. Please be mindful if you sign in to desubscribe before you leave. We also have a DVD player with several popular movies. For extra security, we have simple security sticks in the window and slider tracks. We advise every guest to secure these whenever you leave the property.

The home and grounds were beautiful and very clean. Delvis was friendly and eager to help us schedule activities and provide information. In the yard we saw as many as 4 toucans in the tree at one time. We also saw the sloth. The location is convenient to La Fortuna and area attractions. We are glad that we choose to stay at this house rather than one of the nearby resorts.

We really enjoyed our visit to the La Fortuna / Arenal area. This casa was just perfect! The location was super convenient, the house was clean and well-appointed, the property was beautiful. We will definitely stay here again next time we are in the area.

Great property & location

Very pleased with where we stayed, the privacy and overall house. The back patio was huge and a great place to relax. My only feedback is that those on a longer stay than us may appreciate an outdoor grill for evening meals.

Its a great place to luanch yourself into the La Fortuna area. Just as an FYI there is a breaker box in the front of the property that will swith the electric back on if the electric goes out. The front porch is amazing for bird watching. Its very comfortable and centrally located. Had a great experience in this area of Costa Rica.

Lovely spot near Arenal

We had a lovely stay in this house. Perfect location, manicured grounds, well appointed house, comfortable beds. Away from the commercial area of La Fortuna, but close to all the activities. We saw toucans and crested guans in the backyard. A sloth lives in one of the trees.It was quite rainy when we visited and the volcano was not visible.

What a delightful home and stay. Gorgeous, well-appointed home with a spectacular backyard and balcony feature. Excellent location, near town, but quiet. Easily accessible to all La Fortuna has to offer. Favorite amenities included: large showers with hot water/good water pressure, plenty of room for a family of 5-6 people to spread out, comfortable beds, washer/dryer on-site, and a full, well-appointed Kitchen. The property manager is very communicative and helpful, making check in and check out smooth and simple. The owner/property manager answers any request in a timely manner. If I could give 6 stars, I would! Will definitely stay again when we return to Costa Rica.

Fantastic Stay in La Fortuna

Overall the property is fantastic. Well located especially if you rent a car. It is very well cared for. I can't think of something we needed that wasn't provided already. The beds in the loft are squeaky, but our boys said they were very comfortable. The outside table/hammock was extremely relaxing and provided a fantastic chance to relax outdoors. We were very happy to have had such a wonderful time in La Fortuna.

Beautiful, comfortable and safe home!

We stayed in 3 different homes, this was by far the nicest! We lives the air conditioning in the entire house versus just our bedrooms. Delvis was amazing, always checking on us. We got there very late and check in could not have been easier. The house was stocked with fresh fruit, coffee, water and creamer. We always felt safe and the property has a ton of security measures. LOTS of birds, especially Tucans! We would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous house in a beautiful tropical setting ! Perfect location for all your adventures ! The owner and manager were extremely responsive and helpful in all our needs ! We will definitely return here again . This was our second time in Costa Rica ! We spent one week at Arenal and this House was the perfect base camp for our adrenaline filled activities and our restorative evenings spent at the thermal spas in the area! Exceptional home base

Well maintained, spacious, and extremely comfortable home to serve as a home base for enjoying the La Fortuna area. Outstanding guide and tour service within 100 yards of the property affording outstanding one on one tours. Delvis arranged a personal tour for us with Zander who was an amazing guide whom we highly recommend. There are many fine restaurants in the local area and the house has a kitchen that is well equipped for those who prefer to eat in. Delvis provided us with fresh fruit, milk, and bottled water on our first day. The yard was beautiful and a peaceful place to relax. The bed and pillows were amazing. This was a wonderful place to visit.

Beautiful Home near Arenal

We stayed at Casa Tortuga in the middle of our Costa Rica Vacation. We drove in from Monteverde and the drive around Lake Arenal was scenic with some nice restaurants to stop and take a break. The house itself is very nice and in close proximity to the various Hot Springs. I was concerned regarding the previous posting regarding security. We didn't have any of those issues and just made sure to lock up before we left and utilize the provided safe for valuables. Property Owner communication was excellent throughout and I would definitely stay again next time we are in La Fortuna.

Problem during our stay

We had a troubling event happen during our stay — the house was broken into and valuables were stolen. The property manger was a great help — we did not speak their language and worked as our interpreter. But needless to say, this experience put a damper on our vacation. So far we do not know if the property owner’s (or VRBO) insurance will cover any of our losses.

Beautiful vacation home!

The house was beautiful, comfortable, and very well set up! It felt like a mansion compared to all the other places we stayed at while traveling Costa Rica. It was bigger than we needed for just three of us, but it was a welcome break, and it was great to get to do a little laundry in the middle of our whirlwind trip. Casa Tortuga would be particularly awesome if you have a larger group to fill up the space, or were staying for a while and could really take advantage of the kitchen, comfy couches, and huge yard! The location was perfect for us! PureTrek was on our short list for outings and is right close by. The neighborhood is quiet and lacks the crowds, which we really appreciated, but really is right near the hot springs and is just a very short drive to downtown. Delvis, the manager, was very helpful and took care of arrangements for our canyoning tour and answered all of our questions. And all the fresh fruit he put in the house for us when we arrived was awesome and super appreciated! Thanks for sharing your vacation home with us!

Fantastico

Great place, right by pure trek canyoning which we did the rappelling and rafting with, the communication with the managers was great, the house was perfect for a family of five, the loft upstairs was nice for 2 kids. Comfortable beds, very spacious for a family of five, close by everything, we also did the 2 day pass at the springs which was a cool place to hang out after a day of adventures. Felt very safe, highly recommended.

Great location beautiful property

Perfect space for two couples or in our case a couple and a friend traveling together. Close to all La Fortuna has to offer, Arenal NP, hot springs, great bars and restaurants. Thoroughly enjoyed our too brief stay.

Perfect!

Our family enjoyed several days at this property. The location was perfect for enjoying all the activities near Arenal. The property manager was so helpful! We highly recommend this lovely rental. Why they chose this property

My husband (of 40+ years!) Ed and I love to travel and fell in love with Costa Rica after visiting family there in 2007. We decided to build our vacation home with just the goal of going a few times a year.

We decided in November 2016 to share our home with others and the tranquility of this beautiful area of Costa Rica.

What makes this property unique

This area of Costa Rica has not only temperate weather (much cooler and less humid that the coastal areas) but volcanic-heated hot springs, waterfalls, kayaking, fishing, rafting, gorgeous resorts, but also an incredible volcano! This region also boasts so much biodiversity it's astounding! Between the birds, butterflies, orchids/plant life and abundant animal life there's so much to experience that I recommend a stay of at least 3-4 days.
