We had a lovely time and the home worked out well for us. We loved the proximity to the beach and found some very nice pickleball courts a short distance away. The only down side was lack of AC, but even that wasn't a big deal as there were fans in all bedrooms.

This home is very nice and spacious, there was plenty of room to spread out and we also enjoyed the extra outdoor space on the deck. The distance to the beach and just about everything in town is excellent. The negative for us was the lack of air conditioning, an oversight on my part. We happened to be in town during several of the hottest days, near 90 degree temps. Some were able to sleep comfortably with the window fans, but others were too uncomfortable. Since we were able to open just one window on the first floor partially, there was absolutely no airflow and it was stifling. Screen doors on the patio doors going out to the deck and the ability to open more windows on the first floor would be very helpful.

Our main home is in Orange County, California, but we’ve spent every summer in the Upper Peninsula. Our children grew up making memories here, and the U.P. has become a meaningful part of our family’s story. We choose to host guests in our Gladstone VRBO because we enjoy sharing this special place with other families. It’s a chance for them to experience the same simple, memorable summers in this welcoming little beach town that we’ve cherished for years.

Why they chose this property

We chose this neighborhood because it’s home in every sense of the word. Dawn grew up in Gladstone and even served as a Gladstone lifeguard, so the community has long been part of our family’s roots. Over the years, we’ve continued to vacation here and spend our summers in this town with our children. It’s hard to find a small beach community as accessible, welcoming, and genuinely friendly as Gladstone, which is exactly why we chose it.

Our property stands out because it has been fully remodeled and equipped with modern amenities, offering comfortable accommodations for up to eight guests. Its prime location—close to the beach and just minutes from downtown—makes it easy to enjoy everything the area has to offer. The home is fully stocked with the essentials you’ll need throughout your stay.

One of its most distinctive features is the deck off the kitchen, designed to create a seamless indoor–outdoor experience for relaxing or entertaining. The deck overlooks a private backyard enclosed by beautifully mature lilac trees, adding both charm and privacy. We built this space with families in mind—a place that naturally brings people together.
