Four Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths with spacious living areas
Classic beach house that has been fully updated, without losing the charm of the Ocean Drive style. From the wood paneled walls to the large bedrooms and sitting areas, you will love the nostalgic, yet comfortable feeling you get from staying in Sand-Bar.
Just on the third row of houses from the beach, it is a short walk to plant yourself on one of the least crowded stretches of beach in North Myrtle. In the Tilghman section, you are surrounded by private homes and your view to the ocean is not obstructed by high rise condo buildings nor do you have to squeeze into a tiny spot on the beach. Spread your blanket and chairs, relax and watch the waves roll in.
Main Street Ocean Drive is just 7 blocks away - a great walk on a moonlit night after enjoying the amusement rides or arcade downtown. Or, take a short bike ride to grab lunch or do some shopping. Sand-Bar is conveniently nestled in a quaint section of the beach ,yet close to everything. But, be warned, when you leave the house, you will yearn for the sanctuary and quiet of Sand-Bar.
Inside the house you will find two big screen tv's, two separate family areas a fully stocked kitchen, a sun deck for relaxing, a covered deck downstairs and two enclosed porches. Two of the bedrooms are large enough to sleep a family of four in each, with one king bed and one queen bed in each. Now that's a big bedroom! All new pillow top mattresses added in 2016.
Sand-Bar has been lovingly cared for by a single owner family since it was built in 1954. Close attention has been paid to comfort and style since we use the house all but a few weeks a year when it is available for rent.

Great location, very clean and comfortable house.
We just returned from a few days stay at this home. Owner was very responsive to everything. This home was exceptionally clean and tidy and comfortable. Couches everywhere. As for the beach, I'm not sure you can even call it a one block walk to the beach access, so it was VERY convenient for daily walks. The fenced in pool area was great, just wish it had been later in the year so we could have used the pool because it looked really nice, with steps going in and shelf seating, in the pool itself. The deck off the kitchen and dining area was nice and overlooked the pool. Great for catching some rays and playing some board games. The dogs loved hanging out on the deck and checking out the neighborhood from high ground! Kitchen had everything we could have wanted, house has great TV's in almost every room Also ceiling fans in every room. Can't speak for the other beds, but the upstairs King bed is really great, I took note of the type from the tag for future reference!!! Might have to get one of those. Just a great house and a great location. Would highly recommend this home.
Glad you liked our house Tracy. Our family has owned it since it was built in about 1953 so we take great pride in the experience our guests have there. In the last few years, we have added the pool and almost all new furniture. Most recently, we just added granite counter tops. I think this was done after your stay. I hope you will consider coming back soon.
Very nice spacious and clean property
Very spacious and very clean and very easily accessible to the beach I highly recommend this property for families with pets and it’s also very affordable five-star experience
Great House for Golf Trip
Property was clean and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Backyard was good for outdoor activities. Location very convenient.
Traditional charm, conveniently located!
This is what going to the beach was like when I was a child. Charming with a wonderful host. Fully equipped home. The pool was beautiful and even though we were past season to use it, we enjoyed the lights from the pool each night. I was in the area dealing with a lot of business and it was so convenient to come and go and closest the best Christmas decorations!
Thanks for the great review Paula. You will have to come back sometime when you can use the pool. By the way, we are making some upgrades to the furniture this offseason. Come back soon.
Nice large house, close to the beach and shopping/restaurants
We had a great time at this house. The pool was great for relaxing close to home. Lots of restaurants close by. My wife enjoyed it immensely and Mike was kind enough to let us bring our dog who also needed some vacation time. We couldn't be happier.
Thanks John. Glad you enjoyed the house and hope you will come back.
Roomy House Close to the Beach!
7 adults stayed here for a 4 day weekend in September. While many Ocean Drive amusements and restaurants are already closed for the season, this house is situated so close to the beach that the lack of the amusement park didn't matter. There is a slight ocean view from the upstairs enclosed porch and the walk to the beach is quick and easy - practically half a block! The 7th street beach access has stairs as well as a ramp, which was an added bonus for our beach cart (please note we brought a beach cart with us, there is not one at the beach house.)
Our group has stayed in vacation homes in Myrtle, Florida, Texas, and the Mid-West and we have stayed in Luxury Condos to Beach Bungalows... and across all of our travels I can say that we all had the best night's sleep at the Sand Bar. The beds were amazingly comfortable and since many of us take this trip to not only be together it is also to rest and relax and a good night's sleep is one of the things we are looking for! Bringing linens can be a chore, although we did do that; there are a few linen rental companies around as well that will outfit this house for under $100.
The pool is larger than it looks in the photos and the seats around the edges were wonderful! Even with no pool heat, the temp of the pool in mid-September was great!
This is one of my favorite areas of Myrtle Beach if you, like I, enjoy a less crowded, residential, low-rise area. There are two grocery stores to choose from less than 10 minutes away. There is a great little diner beside the Bi Lo as well as on Main Street (get there early!) On the corner of Main, where you turn to head to the house, there is a small gift shop and package store.
A few notes for future renters! ---------
--The main coffee pot takes cone shaped filters.
--Hand soap is provided for the bathrooms, but there is no dish soap for the kitchen sink.
--There are no kitchen items such as foil, salt and pepper, oil, etc. provided. We left a salt and pepper there for the next renter.
--There *is* great tupperware provided!
--There are no beach items provided such as a cart, cooler, or umbrella. We did not find it to be a big deal but we do like to know in advance for our packing or renting purposes so I wanted to share for others.
--The inside stairs are wide and steep with banisters on both sides as well as stair treads.
We will be back!!
Glad you enjoyed the house and want to return. We will likely add some beach equipment for next year and will also provide some of the kitchen essentials you mentioned. What we have found over time is the cleaners dispose of anything left behind but we will keep trying to help them understand to leave them for future renters.
