Beach front cottage located directly on Shore Road in historic Townbank offers such a perfect beach stay you will want to return year after year! Whether you are looking for a family vacation, couple's retreat or simply to reconnect with a group of friends, this property is equipped and located to provide wonderful memories that will last your lifetime.

This is a two bedroom, one full bath home, which comfortably sleeps six with an amazing view above the dunes from the sun room for daily dolphin and sunset watching. Townbank is affectionately known as “Sunset Beach” and offers spectacular sunset viewing every night. People come from all around just to watch the grand colors provided nightly as the sun sinks slowly into the horizon over the water. Staying here ensures you the premium, unobstructed view of this daily event from both inside the home or the fenced in yard at no additional cost!

The home does offer central air conditioning, however guests equally enjoy opening the many windows to fully experience the ocean breeze, peaceful lapping waves and sea gulls beckoning you to enjoy your day on the quiet, non-crowded beach which awaits just outside your door. This area is perfect for strolling about on the beach (no beach tags required!) or biking along the safe shore road that runs directly in front of the cottage.

The Cape May-Lewis Ferry is just about one mile down the road. If you want to hit the boardwalk at night, Cape May is 10 minutes by car and Wildwood is just as close. Nearby there are wineries, shops, galleries and gourmet restaurants. Harpoons on The Bay, a beach front restaurant and bar, is just a few blocks walk down the road and a great place to dine if you aren't in the mood to cook! You can have a few drinks and simply walk home; no need to worry about driving! A quick trip to the market is only a few minutes by car. Major highways are accessible just outside of town, yet traffic is not a problem while staying in Townbank. The “small town feel” is comforting while strolling or biking throughout the town.

The house is comfortably furnished for your enjoyment and offers updated kitchen appliances, two bedrooms plus additional sleeping in pull-out sofa beds. The eat in dining room for six is beautifully furnished and is next to the living room where you can relax watching cable television, reading or chatting. The grand sun room offers additional dining while overlooking the water, or just a place to hang-out and watch the dolphins or sunsets.

The cottage sits in a large, white picket fenced in yard and offers plenty of space for outdoor fun. Our property actually consists of four lots, but we only have two cottages on it, leaving ample yard space. Beach access is simply through the gate,down the short, gently sloping dune and you are on our quiet, peaceful, non-crowded beach. It's easy to go back and forth from your “beach camp” to access a snack, drink or the bathroom as you enjoy the tranquil setting of what seems to be a private beach.

* Central air and ceiling fans
* The kitchen is equipped with gas stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, toaster oven, microwave, general cleaning supplies and all dishes, glasses, pots and pans, utensils you will need.
* The living room offers a large TV with cable and DVD player, WiFi and many wonderful books to peruse during your stay. There is a sectional sleep sofa with all linens stored neatly within.
* Bedrooms offer comforters, and pillows with one queen bed and two twin beds.
* The bathroom has a tub and a brightly lit vanity area however, you will need to provide your own bath towels and sheets and pillow cases.
* We provide a couple of beach chairs and offer outdoor seating and eating for your enjoyments. Just bring beach towels and you are ready to hit the sand and water!
* There are no laundry facilities on the premises, There is a clean, lovely laundromat within a five minute car ride.
* The most amazing amenity we offer is the world class SUNSET and dolphin watching from the privacy of your beach front sun room! It just can't be beat!

The view of the sunsets are out of this world and my dog can enjoy the bay beach. This is our second time staying here and it is falling apart worse than the last time. It’s hard to beat the views though.

A plus view, D plus conditionRamshackle gem of a cottage located on the bay with glorious sunset views. Be advised old pet stained carpets, brocken blinds, peeling wall paper, dune grass briers stuck in carpets (shoes a must in doors), amazing enclosed porch overlooking the bay if you open the windows and ignore the musty smell. There was coffee left in the pot with scum on the top when we arrived and i let the owner and manager know. We found the vacuum and broom and got most of the grit off the floors. On the plus side, location, location location. Short walk to Harpoons on the Bay...

Great Spring get away

For an inside vacation, this was a great place to be inside watching the bay. Had weather been warm, the outside of the property was littered with broken furniture and trash including a toilet. We couldn’t let our dog in the yard without getting burrs in her paws, the overgrown briar bushes were quite painful.If some landscaping and TLC were put into the outside, I would say it was worth the price.

The perfect spot

We had a great time at this home. It's in the perfect spot, looking directly onto the bay; we watched dolphins from the front porch, fireworks from the front yard, and stars from the telescope. I've already made reservations for next year!

Great Location!

We loved the cottage and the location! The beach was clean and the water was calming! The kayak was a hit and our dog enjoyed it as well! Most of all, we loved the sunsets every night! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Our second visit

This is our second time staying I’m on Gary’s property last year we rented the grey cottage and this year the front house. The sunsets and solitude really can’t be beat. My dog loves it here as well.

A perfect view

This was my second stay at this property, and everything was great (again). The view of the Bay is fantastic - how many places can you go where you can see dolphins from the porch windows? We will definitely be back.

Gorgeous sunsets!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay here. We especially loved the closed in porch which faces the bay, and spent a lot of time watching the birds over the water and the incredible sunsets. The house itself is very well equipped, and we lacked for nothing. We did our own cooking, and had everything we needed. We didn’t use all the beach gear, but there was plenty available! We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Location

This is the perfect cottage by the ocean. Nice fenced in yard which is wonderful since the property is dog friendly. The property has air conditioning and heat, a nice sized kitchen table that could easily sit six people. The front porch is enclosed and I sat out there every morning looking at the ocean drinking my coffee. Plenty of seating area, a queen size bed in one room and two twin sized beds in the other bedroom with one bathroom. Check in was easy and the location was absolutely perfect. Beautiful sunsets just like the pictures show in the listing. I will definitely book here again!

Delaware Bay Beauty

Great location. Directly across from Bay. Easy drive of 10 minutes to Cape May. Quiet neighborhood. Rt 9 antiquing was terrific! Our canine girls loved all the windows to bark at the walkers and enjoyed the fences in yard Gary the owner was gracious and friendly. The only problem was the sun did not shine until we were driving out of town to head home - no fault of anyone. We all hope to come back next year and catch the sun out!

A Gem by the sea!

Location and view are spectacular. Our first trip with our dogs who loved the large yard. Kitchen was stocked for all your needs. Beds were comfortable and my husband loved the recliner. The best part of the house was the sunroom where we spent most of our time. Views are mesmerizing. We had family stay one night and they loved the convenience of the beach across the street. Only one thing: there is no grill so we had to buy a portable. All in all we enjoyed ourselves and plan on renting it for next summer.

Beautiful

This home is in a beautiful location. We were able to walk from the house to the beach in our bare feet. Once at the beach it felt like you had the place to yourself! The set-up is perfect for a family. We loved being able to sit on the porch with the windows open while closing the glass door to the rest of the house to keep the air conditioning inside. It had everything we needed! Easy drive to downtown Cape May and Wildwood. Easy drive to Cape May Brewing. Within walking distance to Harpoons restaurant which had great food and drinks. The beach in this area is very calm and allows for paddle boarding, kayaking, and general floating. Able to fish from the beach. When there was not a coffee pot, the host sent us one in the mail! I was very impressed with the kindness as I have never had a host respond that quickly to my request!

Dated home. Many issues to address. Great water view. Electrical issues w exposed wires in kitchen

This house is a dated cottage with some updates like toilet, bathroom sink, laminate flooring. Many burrs in yard so careful for furry friends. We wore shoes at all times inside bec they came into house with the dog. Beach quiet and it’s awesome to be able to walk across street to the pathway. House needs deep cleaning and decluttering. Basement door kept opening and very musty old smell frequently existed along with the few closets. Pet stains on area rug. Completely rusted grill with bottom almost gone, impossible to use. Few electrical outlets worked and lights often flickered in kitchen, bathroom and dining room, spotty WIFII.

Not the cleanest

The location was perfect for us. The views were phenomenal. The blinds in the sun room are broken and one of the screens is torn. The house is old and it smells old. It is not the cleanest. I realize that this is usually the compromise that large breed dog owners have to make. There were no bed sheets provided but in the binder of instructions it says to leave them at the end of stay for laundering. The mattresses are uncomfortable so a heads up to people with back issues. The ice maker in the fridge doesn’t work and neither did the light in the fridge. Being able to watch the sunset from the sunroom and living room and sleeping to the sound of the waves with our German shepherd dog with us made it worth it for us.

Great location

The cottage is cute and comfortable and the location is fantastic. There were stains on carpet as previously pointed out by others, and dirt/lost animal toys, dog food under furniture. (I guess to be expected in pet friendly place, though have not experienced that in many other pet friendly's we have stayed at) The key was not where we were told upon check in (lock box hanging in tree wouldn't open, finally found it under railing). The door was open come to find out. Couldn't figure out how to lock the door (maybe last people couldn't either, hint: hold handle up and turn dead bolt) Left 2 voice messages and a message through VRBO to owner, no response for 2 days. (he did state he lost his phone) Despite some problems, I loved it here, reminded me of a cottage in Maine I stayed at as a child every summer, and can overlook the other stuff. Maybe owner should look for different cleaners, just a suggestion. I would happily return however.

Not as expected or as portrayed in photos

The view was about the only thing that was nice about this place. Let me start by saying we did not expect perfect, but we were disappointed considering the amount we paid to stay here. Had I not wanted to disappoint my kids, we wouldn’t have stayed. We left a day early because we had enough. Mouse poop in the cabinets, flies, camel crickets in the closets, dirt everywhere, stained carpets, WiFi that didn’t work, doors that had broken locks, broken toaster, no coffee maker as stated, broken toilet seat, broken shower curtain rod that falls off if you move the curtain, junk scattered outside the property, poison oak growing everywhere, sand and trash under the couches, loud squeaky beds anytime you move, light fixtures with no covers, air conditioning that was super cold one hour and hot the next. And no controlling it although we tried. Outlets that didn’t work and cannot be up to code. I could go on and on. Like I said, we didn’t expect perfect and we really aren’t picky, but this place needs some major cleaning, decluttering, and pest control. That being said, I’d love a refund leaving a day early because of the conditions there.

This house is filthy. We only stayed 2 out of the 4 do to unclean environment and musty smell. I did not want to stay at all but we had nowhere else to go. We were able to find and pay for another place for the last 2 nights. I was afraid to sit on furniture. Almost every blind was broken, sand and dog hair on all over furniture. The bedroom rugs were so filthy and had briars stuck in rugs-shoes were required. Sunroom chairs and rug covered in sand. As you entered the house 3 small rugs were thrown on top of each other and covered in sand. Almost trip over them checking at night. Kitchen towels and comforters were musty and bedcovers stained. Thank goodness I brought my own comforter. I had to vacuum the house and wipe down everything with lysol. A lot of sand and dog hair was vacuumed up. My husband and I were there to celebrate my 60th birthday and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Pictures on website are very misleading. I did reach out to owner on Thursday letting him know the condition of the house and I should at least be reimbursed for cleaning fee since I had to clean. He responded 3 1/2 days later stating he has cleaners and that I should have contacted VRBO for quicker response. He did not address any of the issues I stated above or about refunding the cleaning fee. I paid a lot of money then had to put our more to stay elsewhere.

Don’t be deceived by the photos. We almost left before starting! First off location is the only plus to this house. This beach house is very run down & outdated! To start our trip we had trouble getting into the house because the 2 doors have keys broken in them and cannot be opened from the outside. Owner thinks a pad lock is a sufficient fix, it is not!!! It took me 20 minutes to just get into the house! We felt very unsafe!!! The yard is full of rusted, broken yard furniture and a grill that can’t be used! The fence the faces the beach that the owner keeps for wildlife is so over grown it’s ridiculous and are 6 feet high so that you can’t even see the bay from the yard & about 5 feet deep into the property. Also took my dog & every time she went into the yard she had burs stuck in her paws that I would have to pull out because she was limping! The bonus of a yard was a ZERO & unusable so I kept her a leash the entire trip. By the clothes line vines and burs everywhere! The steps into the house on both areas are so over grown with weeds and vines that you get grabbed at your ankles going up. The weeds have grown over the steps! Also the door furthest from the beach if you go out it and open it weeds and vines growing from the roof that they hit your head! The carpets in the bedrooms have burs in them so even when inside your feet get poked and beat up! Wallpaper falling of the wall in the queen room and EVERY blind is broken! I would recommend this to enemy!

The location was perfect. Right across the street from the beach, quick walk to Harpoon’s by the bay, and short drives to other Cape May activities. The house was clean, AC is ice cold, great view of the sunsets.

Family vacation

We loved the closeness to the beach! The property was so nice and the fenced in yard was perfect for our dogs! Gary was very responsive to an issue we had while staying and we really appreciated his care and kindness. We will definitely book here again!

We left without staying. The place was a hot mess. The “lawn furniture and grill” will totally rusted. The door wouldn’t lock. The rugs were covered in pee stains and the place was only slightly better than a shack. I wasn’t going to lay down in one of those beds. Don’t be deceived by Newly Designed. I hate to think what it was like before!!!

The views at this house were incredible. Hands down the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. The location was great, right across from the shore. The beach was quiet and serene. The entire area is dog friendly. Unfortunately, the shoreline was messy and littered with debris and a copious amount dead horseshoe crabs. Upon arrival, the door to the house was not locked. It was not able to be locked. The owner was responsive and responded to us quickly, however he was not helpful in fixing the issues. A deadbolt had to be installed to ensure we could lock the door throughout our stay. The house was dirty. It didn’t appear to be cleaned between us and the previous renters. There was a written review in a book in the house, stating the same things I am and that they refused to stay. Carpets were stained and filled with small sharp objects that cut or splintered our feet. Sticky mouse traps were placed throughout the kitchen. Blinds were all broken. The back door was unable to be used, could only lock from the inside due to a key being broken off inside of lock. I found mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers on our third day. We left the next morning, ending our trip early.
