On Marlana's second day at Loon View, she asked what to do with trash, instructions for which are in the house rules, which was clearly not reviewed. I immediately called Marlana who also reported a “damp odor downstairs.” I asked that Marlana re-start the dehumidifier. She did so during our call. After re-starting, the Clean Filter light came on. Marlana then spent less than 10 minutes cleaning the filter. I refunded Marlana $100 for that inconvenience. Marlana, indicated that she, her son and father would complete their stay in the upstairs unit. (3 beds for the 3 of them) I attempted to check in with Marlana to see how things were going but got no response. Two days later, Marlana wrote she was “noticing a mildew smell when I went to the downstairs unit to get one of my items.” After confirming guests were not in the unit, I inspected the unit finding no hint of dampness. The dehumidifier was running fine. Use of the downstairs unit by the renters was evident. All of this is documented in VRBO correspondence. It is our goal to provide a comfortable, safe and stress-free environment for guests. We do our best to address any issues, big or small, in as timely and unobtrusive manner as possible. Marlana's family completed their entire rental period using upstairs and downstairs for the duration. Our goal is always to earn a 10/10 guest experience. This unfortunate experience is unprecedented in years of managing Loon View. We strongly encourage everyone to read house rules!
