About this property

Luxury Tiny Home with Private Hot Tub — 3 Miles to Historic St. Augustine

THE SHORT VERSION

Three hundred and sixty square feet, and every one of them yours. A queen bed under a peaked ceiling, a private spa nobody else shares, a fire pit out in the pines, and the oldest city in America three miles down the road.

INSIDE — 200 SQUARE FEET, ONE BEAUTIFUL ROOM

A queen bed made up in fresh linens. A love seat that pulls out to a single. A kitchenette with a butcher-block counter, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, real dishes and wine glasses — the coffee is on us. Counter seating with stools. Smart TV and sound system. Fast Wi-Fi and a proper place to work, if you must. Air conditioning, heat and a ceiling fan. A full bathroom with a step-in shower waits behind a sliding barn door.

OUTSIDE — 160 SQUARE FEET UNDER COVER, AND THE YARD BEYOND

Your own hot tub, held at 90 degrees, private to this home and shared with no one. A covered lanai with outdoor dining, lounge seating and a daybed built for the long middle of an afternoon — all of it usable straight through a Florida shower. An open deck for the sun. A fire pit in the yard with a bundle of firewood waiting beside it. Beach chairs and towels by the door, yours to borrow.

HOW IT FEELS

Coffee on the lanai while the light comes through the pines. The afternoon in the spa. Dinner downtown, and the fire lit when you get back. Small on purpose — the kind of small where everything you need is within arm's reach and nothing else is asking for your attention.

THE LAYOUT

A studio, and a romantic one. The queen and the pull-out love seat share the same open room, which is exactly what makes it feel like a retreat for two rather than a house. Three can sleep here when the three are close. For a couple it is generous.

WHAT IT IS FOR

Anniversaries. Elopement weekends. The first trip away after a long year. A week of quiet work somewhere beautiful. Two people who want the door shut and the spa on.

WHERE IT IS

Three miles from historic downtown St. Augustine, about ten minutes from the beach. From mid-November through January the Nights of Lights run downtown, and this is a very good place to come home to afterward.

Property was clean and well kept. The amenities were in working order and a nice addition to the experience. Host was very welcoming and quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. Overall a great experience and would certainly rebook here or one of the adjacent retreats on the property.

We were very appreciative when our mini hot tub was not working on arrival that our host came right over and fixed it.

There were things that were not working. Sink in bathroom was leaking and bugs. A hole in the floor by the bed. I didn’t realize there was no stove. Or how small the place was to say it fits 5 people is unrealistic.

We loved the hot tub. The privacy. A/C works great. Nice patio. Close to most everything. Would stay again for sure. If you’re looking for really nice maybe consider the place like a nice glamping spot. The home could use a few minor repairs.

About the host

Hosted by Greg Tanacea

Host profile image

Hi, I’m Greg. I spent my Navy career on submarines, where 200 square feet is a generous allowance and every inch has to earn its place — useful training, it turns out, for building and running tiny homes.

I’ve been hosting vacation rentals for over eight years, and I take pride in stays that are genuinely well made rather than merely photogenic. I answer my own messages; there’s no management company between us. Whether you’re here for the beach, the woods, or the charm of historic St. Augustine, I’d rather you text me at 9pm with a question than spend your evening working it out yourself.

Looking forward to hosting you at Casa Fuego.

Why they chose this property

I wanted to build the thing I could never find when I traveled: somewhere small and genuinely well made, private, with a hot tub you do not share and a fire you can actually sit around, close enough to a real town to walk it after dinner.

Casa Fuego is that. The fire is in the name for a reason — the fire pit and the spa are the point, and everything else is built to keep you out there longer.

What makes this property unique

• A private hot tub, not a shared amenity — warm and ready when you arrive
• 160 sq ft of covered outdoor living, so weather does not cancel the evening
• A fire pit, with firewood provided
• Detached, with your own entry and no shared walls
• Self check-in by keypad at any hour — arrive at 2am if that is when you arrive
• Three miles from the oldest city in America, and quiet at night
• A host who answers his own phone
