About Marilyn Benemann
We, Carlos and Marilyn Benemann, by mistake took the right turn off Highway 101 across Fernbridge 36 years ago, and have been in love with Ferndale ever since. We own a two-story Craftsman house, built in 1912, right across the yard from your Francis Street Home. We owned antiquarian bookstores in Ferndale and Eureka for 25 years, until Marilyn retired. Carlos continues his career as a California court certified Spanish and German interpreter. We love talking with our guests about books, foreign travel, horses and the good life in Humboldt County. Francis Street Home was built as a retirement dream home for Carlos’ parents. We now want to share it with you.
Marilyn Benemann purchased this House in 1999

We enjoyed every second, it is close to everything. The owners are very helpful and there dog is nice too.
I am glad this family enjoyed their stay. Having a comfortable place to stay makes family holiday get togethers enjoyable, not stressful. This family was a pleasure to have stay, and so helpful, we hardly needed to clean.
Thanksgiving in Ferndale
Lovely comfortable house walking distance to the town of Ferndale. Marilyn came out to meet us and gave us a tour of the house, she lives next door. She had the heat on which made the house very welcoming. 2 bedrooms with single beds in each and a pullout couch in the den. There’s a tv in the den and in one bedroom. Both TVs are on the same dish so you’ve to watch the same movie on both. The grounds are lovely with a fenced in yard for the doggie. Overall it was a great weekend with our family.
It was a pleasure to have this very nice family stay in our house for Thanksgiving with their college age children. We try to keep the house well-equipped and comfortable, especially for winter holidays. We would certainly welcome a return visit.
The comfort of Ferndale
The home had good amenities and a comfortable atmosphere. The grandchildren enjoyed the outdoors.
We thoroughly enjoyed having this family. Our grand-daughter got in little play time with their grand-daughter, and we enjoyed having this nice family. We try to keep the house welcoming and enjoyable for everyone, and Ferndale is definitely a family town.
Beautiful spot and home
Very nice property, short walk to restaurants and shops. Very convenient to the ocean, and a great drive away from the Lost Coast.
Great house to stay with family. Close to shopping, hiking, beaches and fun!
Ferndale is a lovely small Victorian town with the entire town listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Access to Redwood National and State Parks is just a short drive. The drive along the Lost Coast over Petrolia through Rockefeller Forest is described as the most scenic drive in the world. The best description of Ferndale's quiet, picturesque atmosphere is 'Brigadoon'.
