Beachfront Villa was awesome! It felt like a home away from home. Absolutely loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Words cannot describe our wonderful stay at Mitch and Andrea's beachfront villa. The villa as well as the views were awesome, not to mention the island. We had all the comforts of home. Enjoying coffee in the morning on the lanai, watching the day come alive while watching and listening to the ocean was our favorite. The water is crystal clear and we were lucky enough to see two large starfish in the water in front of the villa. We enjoyed sunset cocktails with some of the neighbors and enjoyed learning more about the island. During the day we spent time exploring the island, sunbathing, shopping and making friends with some of the locals. The restaurants were a real treat. With all the different nationalities on the island we were able to experience foods from many different cultures.

We enjoyed our stay so much ...... we've already booked for next year!

Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with us! See you next year!

Perfect, peaceful, paradise

This was our second year at the villa and loved it even more! We grilled some jerked chicken from Hurley's, watched several sunsets, dived a bunch with Living the Dream Divers, and enjoyed lazy afternoons on the private beach which is a short stroll right out the villa door! You can see the water right from the family room. We can't wait to come back in 2018!

We absolutely loved our week in Grand Cayman and the villa was just perfect! It was beautiful, spacious, very well equipped and we felt like we had our own little piece of Paradise. The pristine beach, palm trees and turquoise water are just steps away from the villa. As we walked and snorkeled behind the villa the first day we saw two starfish and almost daily we saw 4 very vocal bright green parrots when we we returned to the villa after excursions (scuba diving and riding horses in the sea!) around the island.

It took us a few days to realize that there was a small grocery store east of us about 20 minutes as opposed to driving to the south side of the island as we did initially. It is a drive to the more populous areas but that was precisely why we chose this villa...peace and quiet! KaiBo and Rum Point(short walks) both had awesome Caribbean views and delicous mudslides!

Thank you so much for opening your GC home to us! We hope to return and enjoy the relaxation in paradise!

Total Relaxation in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

If you are cool with a little solitude with a very private (almost deserted) pristine beach, with neatly groomed palm trees and Caribbean shrubbery; An occasional starfish appearing on at your beach or lobster in the water; and a owner that stays on top of his game in keeping his renters happy, than this might appeal to you. Some things that the other reviews did not mention:

1. There were two complete sets of snorkel equipment in the closet and some beach

floats on the porch.

2. There is a small grocery store about 15 minutes away at the intersection of Hutland

with all the food essential you might need, and a full size Fosters Grocery store about

25 minutes away on the east side. There is also a small liquor store 15 minutes away

at the intersection of North Side and Frank Sound Roads. These stores are an easy

drive and you do not necessarily need to drive back to the West side for groceries as

we were led to believe.

3. You can walk along the beach (high water mark is the "right of way") all the way to

Starfish Point, 10 minutes away.

4. Walking to Rum Point ("The Wreck Bar") will take you 18 - 22 minutes each way.

5. "Ocean Frontier" operates a Stingray City tour from the dock across the street

at "Kaibo's" ($96/ ea). "The Sweet Spot" operates a Bioluminus KayakTour every night

at 7:00 PM from "Kaibo's" ($55/ ea).

6. "Kaibo's" across the street is a bar/ restaurant where you can just about wear anything

you want for dinner (unless you go upstairs). I was in my board shorts and a tee shirt

the 5 nights we ate there. They usually slow down at about 9 PM and probably close

about 10. Foods OK but expensive by USD standards ($19 USD for a Hamburger and

Fries). A bottle of beer is gonna cost you $8.50 USD. But this is the same for all of

Grand Cayman.

When we arrived I had a concern about the security of the lock on the door. After e-mailing the Owner, it was quickly remedied. The only thing that I would add to my wish list would be the use of the owner's kayak that is locked to the stairs of the Villa. This is not a complaint as there was no indication that the kayak was available when we reserved the villa. The view from the Porch/ Veranda is even more breathtaking than the photos. Overall, we were very satisfied.

Rum Point Paradise

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I have been enjoying Grand Cayman for the past 30 years. Like many folks, we initially found GC from a cruise ship back in '87 and just never stopped coming back. This was somewhere around our 15th trip (we managed to lose count along the way. We have always stayed on Seven Mile Beach and just taken a day trip around to the Rum Point area. We always loved Rum Point and besides, it gave us an excuse to drive all the way around the island on the "wrong side" of the road. Since our family wasn't going to be traveling with us this year, we decided it was a perfect opportunity to experience Rum Point for a full 10 days and we are so glad that we did. The north side of the island has a completely different feel from the hustle of the Seven Mile Beach area, but there is certainly no shortage of things to do. There are a number of great restaurants within a 10 - 15 minute drive and the solitude of the area is unsurpassed. Golden Kai (Unit #11 of Gardens of the Kai) was perfect for us. The house feels spacious for a 1 bedroom house and it was fun to make it feel like home. We also had the very spacious and very pristine beach all to ourselves for 10 solid days. While we did see an occasional beach walker, most of them were "full-timers" that walked by most everyday. You'll have plenty of time to meet them and hear how they arrived and just never left. It truly felt like we had our own private island when we were on the beach. So, if you are looking for a quiet getaway from the rat race and the populated beaches found on the Seven Mile Beach, this might just be the place for you as well.

Great home away from the touristy area

  • 4 of 5

A great vacation house on Rum Point. Small, quaint, clean and quiet. About 800 yards from the house to the water. Just walk out and sit in the chairs under the palm trees and enjoy the ocean views. We loved the house, the bedroom, kitchen, living area. Everything was very good. The Gardens of the Kai area was also good. We were there during off season so the first few days while we were there, nobody else was renting the houses around us. We had the entire place to ourselves! Eventually, a family here and there came in.

We enjoyed the Tuesday night BBQ Buffet and live music at Kaibo. We enjoyed the beach bar and food at Rum Point. We enjoyed the iguanas and land crabs wondering around!

Tips and things to note: We were stung by jelly fish twice. Once in the ocean right outside the house and second while swimming in Bio-luminescent Bay. Nothing that needed medical attention, but it did make my spouse sick for the day afterwards. The mosquitoes can be relentless! The screened in Lanai is great for avoiding them. If you need groceries, everything is a 40 minute drive. The Best store we found was Foster's by the airport for a full variety. Also the alcohol is 200% overpriced, so be prepared for that. We found the US dollar compared to the Cayman dollar was not good. Prepare to pay 20%-25% over the listed "CI Price". If a bag of bread is $2, then really it's more like $2.50; it adds up really quick!

All in all, we enjoyed the peacefulness of this villa and the area surrounding it. If you're looking to decompress and have coffee on the lanai while watching the ocean, this is the place for you.

Thank you for sharing your home!
