The Garden Ensuite is part of a private estate nestled in an elegant, four acre woodland forest in Chapel Hill, NC (USA). The property was featured in Chapel Hill Magazine and on the Chapel Hill Garden Club Tour (2024).

(About the property) Guests may enjoy the half-mile of moss-covered walking trails, two creeks, and a dozen outdoor garden rooms complete with fire pits, hammocks, tree swings, and lounges. In addition, Guests have their own private garden with a water feature, and receive a map and reflection journal with prompts for a peaceful and transcendent experience in nature. Our goal is that our guests leave feeling rested, recentered, and renewed.

(About the Ensuite) The Garden Ensuite is 250 square feet and ideal for short-term guests seeking peaceful, clean, and quiet accommodations. The Ensuite includes a bedroom with queen-sized Pottery Barn bed; a full bathroom; refreshment nook with mini fridge, hot coffee/tea station, and complimentary snacks; and a writing station with complimentary notepad and pen. Guests enjoy private access (push button door code makes coming and going easy). The host uses environmentally-friendly Seventh Generation cleaning products, and the ensuite towels and linens are cleaned with fragrance-free products. In addition, a sensitive skin bodywash is provided in the bathroom and a Cuisinart Purxium Air Purification System with an H13 High-Grade HEPA Filter, which captures 99.9% of airborne particles 0.1 micron or larger, is activated.

(About the community) This special property in Orange County, NC is approximately two miles from downtown Carrboro and four miles from downtown Chapel Hill. Our community is known as one of the best college towns in America. Things to do include cheering on UNC student-athletes (NCAA Division I basketball, soccer, lacrosse, etc.), touring the Ackland Art Museum (European and Asian Art), wandering through the NC Botanical Garden (nature trails and themed gardens), fishing in University Lake (rental canoes, kayaks and flat-bottomed boats available), experiencing the Morehead Planetarium & Science Center (space exploration exhibits), and enjoying Franklin Street (the main corridor lined with shops, restaurants and bars). Beautiful Place To Stay

I had such a wonderful time staying at this retreat center! The land is so beautiful, peaceful, and really submerged in nature. The owner, Katie, was so helpful, kind, accommodating, and communicative. The ensuite room was so cozy! I would highly recommend staying here to get away from the burdens of everyday life.

This was my second stay at the ensuite. I so enjoyed my first visit that I was quick to book again. What a stunning place, all nestled in the woods, yet just minutes from downtown Carrboro and Chapel Hill. The ensuite itself is very private and quiet. It has a separate entrance to the side of the house. Self check-in was a breeze. Katie was available to answer a few questions, but otherwise I felt I had the place to myself. Everything was so clean and well thought out. It had all the basic amenities I needed. The bed was super comfy. The room had black-out curtains for a good nights rest. Then when opened, allowed a light filled view of the gardens. I made coffee and just enjoyed my morning surrounded by nature.I took advantage of the many trails on the property, walking them twice, once in the early evening and again in the morning. I used the map and terrific reflection journal that Katie provided. Lots of stops to just sit, reflect and enjoy the peace. Lastly, I appreciated that there was no cleaning fee or unexpected charges. I’ll definitely stay here again.

The place was very clean and comfortable. The property was beautiful with lovely sitting areas and resting spots throughout. The host was accommodating and very responsive. In fact, was quick to get back with me when I mistakenly entered in the code wrong to access the room. She continued to check in to make sure all was good. Great location as well - close to restaurants and the carrboro’s farmers market. Will stay here again.

I recently developed my four acre property in Chapel Hill into a restorative environment and therapeutic landscape with healing gardens, and then founded the Chapel Hill Retreat Center LLC, through which I offer personal development retreat experiences based on principles of permaculture, therapeutic horticulture, and Shinrin-yoku (Japanese forest bathing). Through the VRBO and the Chapel Hill Retreat Center programming, I enjoy helping people turn down the noise in life and experience the peace found in nature. Helping people feel rested, recentered, and renewed is my vocation:-)
