We loved this cabin. It is so peaceful. It’s furnished very nicely, everything was clean and the kitchen was well-stocked with everything we needed to cook a meal. The only complaint we had was the porch hadn’t been cleaned. We swept it, vacuumed the rug and cleaned the pollen from the table and chairs. After that was done, we enjoyed it immensely! We will definately come here again!

Thank you for your wonderful review! We're delighted to hear that you loved the cabin and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. It's great to know that you found everything clean, comfortable, and well-stocked for your stay. We appreciate you bringing the porch condition to our attention and apologize that it wasn't cleaned to the standard it should have been before your arrival. We'll share your feedback with our housekeeping team to help ensure a better experience for future guests. We're so glad that, once that was taken care of, you were able to fully enjoy your time at Simply Serene. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Beautiful cabin and we loved the privacy. The only thing that would make it more pet friendly would be gates on the back porch. We will definitely be renting again!

It was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway! The cabin is close enough to go do things-West Jefferson, hiking, breweries, etc. but secluded enough to enjoy some peace and quiet. The kitchen is packed with all the cooking necessities so we made all our meals at the cabin. Our dog also enjoyed the big yard and beautiful deck to nap on. 10/10 would stay here again.

I really want to give this place a higher review but this place needs some TLC. The cabin has everything you would need for a peaceful relaxing stay however you first must navigate a small gravel road in pretty good shape with a 5 degree incline, not too bad. Second, you then have to make a 150 degree turn into a steeper gravel driveway of about a 12 degree slop. Finally, there are few spots that have large ruts developing, one right when you first turn in and second right at the very top that would bottom out most cars. There are also spots along the side of the driveway that have reflectors letting you know the road is slowly eroding away and there are several soft spots that need attention. Lucky for us it did not rain during our stay and we had a 4x4 with us, not sure a low profile car could make it up if it rained. As I mention this driveway needs some serious work which caused this! (See picture below). I don’t suggest bringing street motorcycle, or any towed motorcycle trailers to this property. The driveway is not in good enough shape. I hope this review helps others make informed decisions before they book this property.

The cabin itself is lovely, clean, and the furniture (especially the bed in the front bedroom) was comfortable. The road to the cabin is a bit difficult to navigate, and there was nothing in any of the communication from the hosts to warn of the road condition. We went in the middle of October and between the condition and the leaf coverage (expected) the driveway was hard to drive up and feel safe doing so. The home comes with NO supplies except a couple of rolls of toilet paper and very inexpensive paper towels. There were no seasonings, coffee, sugar, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, so you truly have to bring everything with you. I don't normally mind bringing all of that, but again, like the road, it would have been nice to know that in advance as its at least 20 minutes to a store from the house. The pictures of the house show solar lights around the outside deck. Those were not working for us. It was absolutely pitch black outside with no outdoor lighting we could find aside from the porch light on the front stoop. Again, none of this would have been issued if we had been informed in advance so we could have adequately prepared. The reservation details come from a third party other than VRBO, so I had to search my emails to find the details for check in and make payments. Overall, I think the owners need to make it easier to access the reservation and property and communicate what to expect as part of the listing and the check in documentation.

Thank you so much for taking a moment to leave a review. The roadway is a secondary private gravel road but it is in excellent condition as well as the gravel driveway. Yes I can see that it being leaf covered in the fall could cause a bit of questioning. The home is supplied with starter paper towels, bathroom tissue, trash bags, sealed individual shower soaps, hand pump hand wash, dish detergent, laundry detergent and linens. We do not provide shampoo and conditioners as most persons have specific products for their hair. We have checked the solar lighting since your stay and found it to be working as did other guests after your stay. We are available to be reached 8am to 10pm with our phone number for guests. We are very responsive to emails as well. We automatically email guests their check in information and cabin information as well as provide an easy guest app to find all info. We are always here for our guests.

The property was beautiful, clean, and we were pleasantly surprised by how stocked the kitchen was in regards to cooking supplies!! We love to cook, so we were happy to have a wide array of tools at our disposal. We enjoyed coffee on the large covered porch overlooking a quaint, forested yard. The property was everything we wanted from our rental. We were easily able to get up and down the driveway without 4wd even after heavy rains, and there was a food lion within 15 minutes of us, so we got to enjoy isolation while still having access to a nearby town without it being a major inconvenience. There were heavy unexpected rains, which interfered with the running water for the property. The owner of the property was quick to respond, deeply apologetic, and frantically worked to get the issue resolved. The company that runs the vrbo account, or whoever is in charge of handling the messages on vrbo was snippy and dismissive. We reached out a little bit before 5pm when we lost our running water. Despite us responding quickly and asking questions in hopes of resolving the issue ourselves, the person responding vanished after 5pm-- mid-conversation-- as it seems clocking out was more important than us being able to flush the toilets, shower, or wash our hands. After going back and forth with this person all day on our anniversary, they finally gave us the number to the actual property owner, who was a very kind breath of fresh air and was able to immediately resolve our issues.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for highlighting so many of the things you enjoyed about the property. We’re thrilled to hear the cabin, kitchen setup, porch, and peaceful setting helped make your anniversary getaway special. It means a lot to know you felt comfortable and well-equipped during your stay. We also sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding regarding the unexpected water issue. While we’re grateful we were able to get things resolved, we completely understand how stressful and frustrating it was to experience that interruption—especially on such an important occasion. Unfortunately, getting a plumber out quickly can sometimes be challenging, but please know we were doing everything possible behind the scenes to restore service as fast as we could. We were happy to compensate you in an abundant way to show our sincere remorse to you. We’re especially thankful for your kind words about the owner’s responsiveness and care, that was actually our property manager, Sherrie. At the same time, we’re very sorry that your communication experience through the VRBO messaging system did not reflect the level of hospitality and support we strive to provide. We are happy to report that the plumber replaced the well pump so water has been restored. Thank you again for staying with us and for your graciousness throughout a difficult situation. We truly hope to have the opportunity to host you again under smoother circumstances
