¡Poponi Cottage fue nombrada una de las 7 mejores estancias en el Caribe por la revista de viajes Wanderlust! (23 de abril de 2019)

Poponi Cottage es un estudio privado a 100 pasos de una playa desierta de arena rosada de una milla de largo. Rodeado de hermosos jardines, Poponi se encuentra en el segundo piso con un garaje debajo. Vistas al agua están disponibles desde el balcón. Poponi Cottage comparte una propiedad frente al mar de 4 acres con Poponi House. La casa y la cabaña tienen buena privacidad entre sí. ¡Hay un gran esnórquel en nuestra playa! Dos restaurantes / bares frente al mar están a poca distancia de la playa: Unique Village, a 10 minutos, y La Bougainvillea, a 15 minutos.

La cocina de Poponi está totalmente equipada con estufa a gas, refrigerador grande, microondas, cafetera, licuadora y tostadora. El área para dormir es una cama queen size y un baño completo con ducha a ras de suelo. La cómoda sala de estar cuenta con TV, DVD, cable y WiFi. Las puertas dobles de vidrio se abren a un balcón con sillas, parrilla y mesa de comedor al aire libre. Hay una ducha al aire libre en la planta baja. La casa tiene aire acondicionado.

Poponi Cottage está ubicado cerca del asentamiento de North Palmetto Point, que cuenta con varias tiendas de comestibles, farmacias y restaurantes. La histórica ciudad de Governor's Harbour, la ciudad principal de la isla, se encuentra a diez minutos en coche de la propiedad. Governors Harbour tiene supermercados, bancos con cajeros automáticos, tiendas de regalos, licorerías, tiendas de buceo, panaderías y media docena de excelentes restaurantes. Uno u otro de los restaurantes / bares tendrá música en vivo casi todas las noches de la semana. También puede comprar la pesca fresca del día para asar en casa desde el muelle de la ciudad.

This is one of those places that has that thing!

Poponi Cottage has that sweet indescribable vibe - authentic and relaxing. Well equipped, everything you need to cook and relax. Beautiful beach location. Lovely, lush well kept property.

Beautiful cottage

Poponi cottage is a short walk down the lawn to the beach, which is perfect for walking and wading. During our stay, the ocean was rough on this side, so swimming and snorkeling were better on the Caribbean side if the island. Overall, a lovely property ina great location.

Island Time

We truly enjoyed our stay. The apartment was exactly what we expected and provided the comforts of home. It was centrally located on the island. The short walk to the Atlantic was rewarding and the short drive to the Caribbean side of the Island produced equally magnificent views. We would highly recommend this for a couples time together.

Steps from world-class beach

Enjoyed our stay at Poponi Cottage. The pictures and info on VRBO are very accurate. The beach is incredible and rarely do you see anyone else. Amazing. This studio apt is ideal for a couple. The outdoor deck is wonderful; we had morning coffee there each day. The owners live next door. Don't worry, they do not interfere at all, but were there to help and provide suggestions for the island. Highly recommend this place!!

The place has seen better days and was not cleaned well. Strong smell of mold upon entering the rental. Rather than address our concerns the owner literally argued with me and got super snarky. Never had a rental experience like this. We left the rental and did not return.

Off the beaten track

Great get away from it all location. Set back about 100m from superb beach. Further rental house in front. Very helpful and attentive hosts. The cottage consists of one room and bathroom above garage. Although very basic there is a thoughtful comprehensive inventory. Drying line outside but partly shaded and if humid drying beach towels etc. difficult. Would suggest change of these every 3 days or so. Overall we enjoyed our stay and good central base to explore the rest of the island.

We enjoyed our stay

We enjoyed our stay at Poponi Cottage. It was a short, pretty walk to the beach, and we mostly had the beach to ourselves. It was nice to have morning coffee at the sitting area in front of the beach, and watch the surf. We appreciated the outdoor shower for rinsing after swimming. The hosts, Rick and Missy, were very nice. The linens were not allergy free, as they were cleaned with detergent and/or fabric softeners with fragrance and likely other ingredients that irritate sensitive individuals, and that gave us some issue. VRBO needs to have standardized laundry policies, similar to hotels, for the products they use. (We don’t have issues with hotel linens.)

Paradise found

We searched online for an island paradise and found it on Eleuthera. Poponi Cottage is exactly as described in the posting! The accommodation is perfect for a couple. The gentle breeze in the evening means you don't need to use air conditioning. The beach is in front of the main house and a 2-minute stroll from the cottage through lush vegetation. The landscaping is well-manicured and invites leisurely evenings on the deck. The private beach is beautiful and sandy, perfect for swimming or lounging. We stayed for 10 days on this trip and hope to make it longer next year. Our host Rick was very responsive to the few requests we had because everything was set up to allow us to have a turnkey experience with just the right amount of privacy.

Poponi Cottage Stay in February

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a truly amazing stay at Poponi Cottage. The beach was gorgeous, the swimming excellent, and the accommodation spotlessly clean and very comfortable, including a very functional kitchen, a bbq, and super comfortable bed. If you enjoy a hands off approach by the owners, this is a good place for you. Note, while the beach is very close, you can not see the beach from the property (although you can hear the water), and there is a bigger property right in front. That said, there is an awesome shady hammock right by the beach. The only things I would recommend are: replacing the cracked lounge chairs on the terrace, fixing the AC, and providing a cellphone (it seems easy to get a SIM card, but really nice if you don't have to worry about that). Fortunately it wasn't that hot, we managed to get in and out of the chairs without falling through them, and we didn't need to make any calls! We have no hesitation in recommending the property.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Poponi cottage. The lounge chairs have been replaced. If it had been requested, we could have replaced them during your stay. The AC works fine. We have never had any complaints about it and it's working fine today. As a courtesy for our guests we provide wireless, high speed internet. It is up to the guests to bring cell phones. Poponi cottage does have ocean views. The two story cottage sits above the house which is one story.

It was exactly as described and from what I could tell one of the nicer locations to stay. The cottage was just enough for my fiance and I. It was so cozy and included all the amenities. The best part was the beachfront. The beach looks like the picture...perfect. We only saw a couple of people here and there on the beach making it feel like our own private beach. Missy was very kind and was available if needed. Two thumbs up!Tip: definitely rent an SUV, the secondary roads are more like trails. The island is very expensive so be prepared. Directions around the island are not great, especially the first couple of days. Lastly, the food truck next to Burrows store has amazing sandwiches and salads for decent prices.

Absolute Heaven

My husband and I love Eleuthera and have been there many times over the past 11 years, usually with our daughters and their friends/partners, and have stayed in quite a few rental homes of varying sizes around the Governors Harbour area. This trip was an anniversary trip for just the two of us and Poponi Cottage was the perfect getaway! We felt instantly at home in this bright, cozy and very private bungalow surrounded by lush trees and flowering plants. The property is on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island and the cottage is about a 1 minute stroll to the gorgeous and mostly deserted beach. In fact, we only saw 2 other people on "our beach" one time the entire week of long walks, swimming and snorkeling. It was truly like a fantasy vacation on a private island...only better because a short drive away were all the restaurants and shops we've grown to love over the years of visiting central Eleuthera. Missy, the owner who happened to be on island, came by to say hi our first day and goodbye our last, but otherwise left us to ourselves...which was unfortunate because she's such a lovely ray of sunshine we'd have loved to spend more time with her. Hopefully that will happen next time as we 100% plan to rent Poponi Cottage again along with Poponi House when we return with the rest of our family in the fall!
