About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, Sleeps 4-6

Beautiful fully furnished 3 bedroom 2 bath home for rent on Lake Gaston. Open floor plan on the main level includes living room with fireplace, dining room and fully equipped kitchen with icemaker. Two bedrooms, both with queen size beds and bath with Jacuzzi tub complete the first floor. French doors open to the spacious deck with gas grill, and a beautiful view of the lush green trees that shade the lower yard along with a view of the lake and evening sunsets. The spacious lower level has a large open living room with a large bathroom and third queen bedroom. The downstairs recreation room has air hockey, fooseball, bar area and movie pit with 60 inch TV with surround sound. Movies, books and even toys for small children are provided. French doors open to a patio area outside the lower level rec room with comfortable patio seating for enjoying the lake view.

A wooden walkway accompanies you from the lower level all the way to the covered boathouse with lift, power and light. Use of the private boathouse and boat ramp is included in rental. Because this house sits in the rear of the cove, boat noise is very minimal. There is good fishing right off of the dock and also a ladder for swimming. No smoking or pets allowed. Also, there is no internet at Lyric's Lair which is perfect for those who need to unwind and take a break from email and Facebook! Verizon cell service works best, but cell reception can be spotty at our rural oasis.

Amenities for the little ones include, high chairs, bed rails, baby gate, and toys and games, and books for smaller children. Teens and adults will enjoy the selection of video games and movies and books for evening or rainy day activity.

For larger families, second home may be available for rental right next door. Sleeps 6 additional. Notify owner when submitting inquiry.

About Malena Malone-Blevins

Hello! We are the Blevins family. We live in Woodbridge, Virginia and are a family of three. A working wife and husband who both work in downtown Washington, DC. Our daughter, Lyric, for whom the house is named (Lyric's Lair) is a rising 8th grader. We are your typical two-income working busy family. In our spare time, we devote ourselves to a cover pop band. With a singer and a guitar player in the house, we live in a musical environment. Our daughter also shares our love of music along with her other activities which include rock climbing, kayaking, and swimming at the lake! We love making memories at Lake Gaston and still schedule use of the house ourselves working around our many repeat renters who come back each year to make their own memories at Lake Gaston.

Malena Malone-Blevins purchased this house in 1997

Why Malena Malone-Blevins chose Gasburg

This property was originally suppose to be a 'build it and sell it' type of investment, but we fell in love with Lake Gaston and its been an important part of our life ever since. We didn't originally think we would rent the house, but found that we loved it so much we wanted to share our little piece of Lake Gaston heaven with others who wanted to enjoy this unique lake.

Everything we do, we do with family in mind. Like childproof locks and outlet covers throughout the house so that parents with small children can relax a bit more. Nightlights, high chairs, and a pack and play are provided to help keep families with small children from lugging around a lot of stuff on their vacations. The movie area downstairs has a sectional sofa instead of theater seating so everyone can sit together. We work hard to keep the house in excellent shape, keep it modern and provide all the comforts of home for our guests.

What makes this house unique

The house faces the west, so the sunsets in the evening are particularly spectacular from the upstairs deck. The house is shaded and protected by the tall trees that stand in the yard. These trees provide shade, protection from boat noise, but most of all provide a natural playground for many species of native birds, including humming birds, and red crested woodpeckers. The low level lights outside at night provide opportunities for star gazing at a level you just can't get in the city. The lake house was really designed to fit as unobtrusively as possible into its natural surroundings. We provide Kayaks for getting out on the lake to experience it's beauty even if you don't own a boat. A ladder is provided for swimming right off of our dock. We have a saying in our family that "You haven't been TO the lake, until you have been IN the lake"!

Quiet haven on a busy weekend

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful location for our family weekend! It was busy on the lake (Memorial Weekend), so it was nice to be back a bit in the quiet cove. We were visited by a heron and Canada geese and goslings. It was great to have a flat grassy area for outdoor games plus the lake to jump in afterwards. The kayaks made it into the water a couple times. The home is well kept and very comfortable.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed Lyric's Lair, yes it is nice to be off the busy lake back in the cove. It's nice and quiet and you also don't get beat to death by the passing wake...which is great if you have a boat or little kids swimming off the dock. The wildlife love the quiet cove as well. I am glad you got to meet our heron, he lives there year round! Thanks so much for kind words, Give us a call next year to plan your vacation, we enjoyed having you!

Fully equipped treehouse with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at Lyric's Lair. The sundeck was a great place to catch some rays while the property itself was cool and shaded. The cove is quiet and clean and the kayaks were perfect for those without motor crafts. It rained 2 days while we were there and my boys (ages 11and 8) were fully entertained with foosball, air hockey and a huge screen TV with movies and video games. On one of the nice days we found a mini golf place out on River Rd that was perfect! Food Lion isn't far and has a couple of casual dining options in the same shopping center. The house felt big with lots of space for our family. The kitchen is nicely equipped. The wood walkway down to the pier was nice and had no steps. The neighbors were really nice too. Renting from the owner was like renting from a friend. She is extremely responsive and great to work with. This place would be perfect in any season. Fall looks very promising with all the trees. The lake side of the house is mostly windows and we felt like we were in a treehouse! We loved our little getaway and hope to be back soon!

Awesome!!!!

  • 4 of 5

The only thing I would change about our experience at Lyrics Lair is there isn't any Wi-Fi. We spoke with the owner when we checked in and you couldn't ask for a nicer, more informative lady. We will definitely be going back this fall to see all of the beautiful leaves changing colors!!

Owner's Response: Thanks Bryan for the kind words! You were a great renter to work with!! Internet is a double edged sword, it's nice to get away and not have to worry about reading Facebook, or Twitter. The cell service for Verizon customers is good enough to receive calls and texts, and pull up websites with limited graphics but yes, on a busy holiday, or weekend cell reception can certainly be an issue and there is definitely no streaming. Even if we wanted to install internet Hughes net is our only option and it's still not fast enough to stream. If we got it, we would have to charge more because it is so expensive so we would have to raise prices for little internet service value...it's just not worth it. Here's hoping for FIOS in Look Out Point sometime in the near future! Lyric's Lair would be happy to welcome your family back anytime!

Great Lake Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We have rented this house every year for many years and it just gets better and better. The house is well equipped for families with everything you'd need to enjoy the lake. The location on the lake is perfect and you can bring your boat or use the kayaks that are provided.

Our lake house on Pea Hill Creek on the Virginia/North Carolina boarder is in a rural area away from the hustle and bustle of the city and exactly what is needed for a vacation. Historic sites, antiquing, and even a old fashion drive-in theater are within a 30 to 60 minute drive. This part of Virginia/North Carolina is full of small towns with shops and restaurants with plenty of Southern hospitality, character and charm. There is even a winery, Rosemont only 45 minutes away

One of our favorites is the Raleigh Road drive in theater located in Henderson, NC about a hours drive from the lake but well worth the trip. The drive-in shows first run movies, with ticket prices well below what you would pay in a indoor theater. In front of the screen is an old fashion playground for the little kids and all the food purchased at the theater supports the operation.

Another favorite is the Watersview Restaurant at Easton's Ferry bridge on River Road. About 25 minutes from the lake house, this fine dining restaurant offers outdoor seating where you can catch some of the best sunsets on Lake Gaston.

Be sure to take the kids to The Point at Lake Gaston so they can feed the carp and geese that live at their docks. The kids can buy fish food for $1.00 a bag, while the grown ups can order typical American/bar style food such as burgers, fries, pasta etc. The food is good and beer is cold and if you get there early enough on a Saturday afternoon you can catch any number of sports on their TV's in the screened in Gazebo. This is a good place for casual family dining anytime while you are at the lake.

There is also a winery, called Rosemont of Virgnia. Rosemont features tastings as well as live music during the summer months with a 4th of July celebration.
