About Stacy

Don Nelson is a retired NBA basketball coach and player. Joy Nelson loves to paddle outrigger canoes and may take you along.

We went to Maui on our honeymoon and fell in love with the island. We lovingly built the home in Kihei on the south side and lived there off and on for 15 years while working. Now that we are retired we live on the north shore in Paia, next door to the rental cottages. We love sharing the tropical beauty and ambiance of Maui with others.

Stacy purchased this house in 2000

Why Stacy chose East Maui

Why you should book one of these pieces of paradise? The views are incredible, on both sides of the island. Maui has been named the best island in the world several times by Conde’ Nast. You will enjoy your privacy, while being able to walk to nearby shops and restaurants.

Paradise in Pa'ia!

  • 5 of 5

Ok…Ok...I’ll admit it…as a HUGE Dallas Mavericks fan, I booked Don Nelson’s house without even looking at the details of the place! What’s good for Don is good for me! I booked for my family of nine, so having a home with several other cottages on the property was a plus. Pa’ia…never heard of it…but hey, it’s Don Nelson’s house! Had to be great, right? Well…I am now the new travel guru in our family for choosing such a great place!

Stacy, the operations manager, was easy to work with…a real pleasure! She answered all of my questions very quickly and gave us lots of advice and recommendations.

Six of us stayed in the Milo Cottage and three in the Koa Cottage. The location could not have been more perfect! Out our back door, the gorgeous ocean with palms swaying in the breeze, was our “go-to” spot. Lounging with a cold beverage, watching the sea turtles, cooking out a burger…the serenity of the back yard was fabulous! But, walk right out the front door and through the gate..and POOF…it’s like you were transported to another place…you are right in the town of Pa’ia. It literally takes you about 1 minute to walk to the coffee shop in the mornings. Pai’a is a small village and everything is within a five-minute walk…a grocery, delicious restaurants, fun souvenir shops…but you'd never realize how close town is while on the property... Location…perfect!

We also enjoyed that Pa’ia was not a big commercialized town. It was fun visiting with some of the locals…a handful were very colorful and eccentric. This town truly has that Bohemian vibe with its diverse mixture of locals…. Loved it!

We drove the Road to Hana, visited the Haleakala crater, and explored the entire island, but we were always happy to get back to Pa’ia and the Milo and Koa. The houses were clean, furnished nicely, and had lots of amenities. The washer and dryer were an added plus. There was not one thing we would have changed about the house! The Milo was great for our family because it had a downstairs with kitchen (full refrigerator), living area, and bedrooms, while the upstairs had the same set-up…nice to have two refrigerators!

We loved our stay in Pa’ia and at Don Nelson’s cottages! Don even came over one day and took a photo with my sons and chatted awhile. Don, I knew your place would be fantastic! Even though the family thinks I researched accommodations forever, this Mavs fan didn’t even have to read the description further…Milo and Koa it was! Thanks, Don and Stacy!

Clean, spacious home in great location for beach time and local eateries!

We had the most lovely stay at the Milo House in Paia! It's right downtown and has excellent access to the beach. The hosts were present and friendly, the home was prestine, and it was everything you could want in a non-cliche Maui vacation.

Clean, roomy, space and bedroom separation was good for the generations. Grandson loved the yard to run around. Right on the ocean view was gorgeous with lovely trade winds.turtles to watch.

Roomy 3-story house in Paia

  • 5 of 5

Ocean view. Surfing beach access if cross 2 adjacent properties. New, comfortable, clean, functional house. Share yard/complex with 2 other rentals and owner' fantastic home. Gated for parking and privacy, but IN Paia--walk everywhere. Will be back!

Great ocean views.Short easy walk to the beach. Perfect vacation spot on the north shore.

This house is both remote and right downtown in Paia. I know that sounds impossible but the home faces a beauitful ocean view while the town is a mere 50 yards behind you with access to many restaurants, shops and galleries. This is a great central location with the road to Hana right at you doorstep and Haleakala only 40 minutes away. The house itself was immaculate and well supplied with all the ammenities we needed. Overall we had a wonderful stay and I highly recommend this home.
